  1. I'm 14 and I got fined £20, I was really Ill and forgot to tell my parents about the fine. now they've sent a letter saying you have been fined £55 and now i don't know what to do now. My parents can't afford to pay this, can I get away with this because I live in a flat and theres 2 gate's. Do you think the debt collector will come in? I don't want my parents to go court, really scared right now:(
  2. I sent letter 3 plus section 10 notice plus intent ofestoppel, got a response from the dca telling me to send £1 to cca requests, for 77/78 request. I suppose I just do nothing for now and wait for the next letters, to issue estoppel? Thanks
  3. got 2nd charge mortgage, on repayment basis, only 23% of each payment goes to capital payment, the rest is interest. How can I challenge this, I think I am being robbed here, I was thinking of contacting the ombudsman about it. Is there anything else I can do? Any template letters to send to them? Any help / suggestions, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. on thursday i didn't buy a train ticket and the machine for buying a 'pay later ticket type' wasn't working i went on the train from Burnham to Windsor. The train was arriving at 8:16 and i was at the station at 8:12 but the line was so long. I couldn't miss this train. 4 to 5 people were still ahead of me by the time the train came. i got on it because i didn't want to miss my examination. When i got to Windsor i told the inspectors all of this but obviously they don't work on assumptions. i gave my details and left without doing the whole Q&A. This is where the problem comes into play. I forgot my weekly ticket a couple months back. Got fined that day too and got a £80 fine and a pre-court action letter. Paid it all off as soon as it came but i re-read the sheet and it says 'if this ever happens again. There will be court action' This is only my 2nd time in 2 years. Is it likely that they are going to take me to court this time?

  6. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?372400-MBNA-PPI-Award-“Interpretative”-Calculations/page25 The long running thread above is dedicated to the bizarre way in which MBNA calculate their PPI redress awards. The FOS apparently do not see the figures, so from what I understand, they are just confirming that PPI is due and that MBNA will provide them with a figure. One guy (next post) decided to investigate a little deeper and discovered that the original award of £3,000 was INCORRECT. This was confirmed by Ian Doherty(head honcho at MBNA) and he was advised there was another £8,000 due to him. He is waiting on his cheque to be processed right now.
  7. I agreed to lend my brother some money off my card for food and gas, i have social anxiety and depression and so i barely leave the house anymore so obviously he knew my pin so he could get it. Ive trusted him in the past with it before, except this time i didn't get the card back straight away. About a week later on september 15th when i did, i realised £155 was put in and taken out by wageday advance. Now i asked him about it, and we had a big argument he said he didnt tell me because he was going to put the money back anyway. It turns out a friend of his gets these loans all the time and helped him do it, obviously he knew all my details as we are immediate family, but he used his own email address as he didn't know mine. The due date was october 12th for £194 and i have no idea what the interest is but i am guessing its extortionate as these usually are. Obviously i cant prove to the company that it isnt my debt, ive thought through it and thought through it no end but no solution comes up, and i dont want to acknowledge the debt by contacting them. Is there any options here at all?
  8. Hello, I haven't received a letter from TfL yet, I just have been reading threads here and want to seek early advice before it arrives. Here is what has happened, I took the wrong oyster card when i left in a hurry after seeing my brother and I used a PAYG. He thought he has lost it and didn't report right away. It was my bad habit that I always don't check the monitor on my way in and way out as I only commute between work place and home Monday to Friday and I work out the number of journeys I make in a week and therefore top up weekly. As you all know it didn't take me that long to find out this card wasn't mine when I was doing the weekly top-up. I told my brother that I had his card and he said I could keep it since he didn't use it as frequently as last year and I just started my internship and he thought it could help me a bit since I was saving up for a qualification course. I must admit that I had made a hugh mistake back then by continuing to use his card in the hope that I wouldn't get caught that easily until yesterday. Detail of questions being asked: - whose card it was, answered it was my brother's - who bought the monthly passes over last 2 months, admitted it was me - why used my brother's card, told him that our cards got mixed up and I thought it was mine plus I didn't check the monitor on my way in and out and I agreed that I should have done so. - when start using his card in April, answered I was unsure about the exact day. I didn't tell him that I have been using it for more than 2 months. All i was thinking back at the station was that he only got the evidence of last 2 months and I only answered to what he has got.... - Do I have another card to use, I told him that I have a ordinary adult one. What is the purpose of asking this question? I don't know if I have made my situation worse by doing so and I really worried sick, even more when thinking of the serious consequence of having a criminal record for being a fare evader. I can't afford to have a criminal record since I just started my career. I feel so stupid and regret for my action and looking back I have made it through in an even worse financial situation. I certainly wouldn't do it again. I understand I will be receiving a letter from Tfl soon and I know I can't do anything but to tell the truth and how sorry I truly am. Is it a good idea to voluntarily disclose the actually start date of the misuse? any specific advice on what to include to make them believe that this is only a one-off case will also be much appreciated. Thank you very much.
  9. So i got caught today with my mothers discounted oyster card. The inspector made me pay the bus fare and then took the oyster card from me. I confessed it belonged to my Mother after some interrogation. She didn't take my address or name so i asked what would happen to the oyster card and she said they would send a letter to her house. What does this mean? My Mother phoned TFL and told them she lost it on my advise so they blocked it now. Have i gotten her in trouble or have i gotten away with a slap on the wrist? I've been worried sick all day and i definitely won't be using it again. I'm a cash strapped student so i wanted to save on my costs.
  10. So 4 months ago I decided (don't know the hell why) to shoplift two nail polishes and a cream from Boots. I've done also a purchase of £80, and before going out, I realized they were looking at me and left the stuff behind and went out. Outside a security guard stopped me and led me to this room. There they checked my bags and they also had what I left behind with them. I asked if I paid the items would they let me go and they said yes. But before, they got my details and I don't know if as a smart or stupid move, I gave the address of the house I used to live, not my curent one. They never said they would send me anything, and what I sign was something saying I was ban of the store. anyway, I was too nervous and ashamed to think properly. They never call the police, but as a international student, I have to go to a police station and notify that I moved all the time I do. I haven't done that yet and I'm afraid that if I do, they will see my matching name-address with the papers I signed. I'm just worried that I received something in my old address and now not paying or whatever I had to do will actually put my name on the record. My concerns are: is my name on the police's record if it was not envolved at the time? and also, was I suppose to receive anything if tehy let me go and pay for the goods I "almost stole"? Thank you!
  11. Finally managed to get one, came back from holiday today and in the pile of post was a special gift from a PPC. As I intend to play with this I don't want to reveal the company involved but it is one of the active ones and I know that they do trawl this site. The details are over stay in a free car park for a shopping centre. So how do I start? Should I play dumb and contact the company with a straight forward 'appeal' saying that it's free and therefore I dispute any charge they is payable and wait for the 'aapeal to be rejected and then on to POPLA or do I go straight in with the deny any charge/breakdown prove costs and entitlement to claim/contract with landowner letter?
  12. Hi guys, that case might be easy for many of you, hope so,as I need to appeal it and prepare with proper grounds Ill need some help. Hopefully will work. Let me explain the situation I got the PCN: It's from Islington council,I did some work there and was loading some things for short time and was planning to leave soon,so I did put a visitor voucher for 30mins on public road resident permit holders, all fine but the time was going to past and I did ask for second one, checked the car was fine and start scratching the new permit and making my way to the car as I was on the third floor of a building,so when I got to the first floor window I saw the warden parking his bike and getting off and making his way to my car I run and in 5-10 sec I was behind him with the new permit and telling him that all fine while he was taking a picture of my tax disc, I kept talking and showing him the permit but he didn't even turn his head to me and took one more photo of the already just expired Voucher. So in this moment I thought he has eye and ear problems and I touch his shoulder to ask for his attention and he start shouting not to touch him and that its too late, that moment I got really upset and I get in to the car and ignored him, turn on the engine, lights and at that time he printed the ticket and tried to put it on the windscreen but at the same moment I turn on the wipers and the ticket stick to the left wiper and start moving with it , he tried to do a photo, may be 2 while my new voucher with started time was already on the windscreen showing and I was shocked looking at him what he is doing.I took the ticket from the moving wiper I calm down and simply asked him why he is doing that and its unfair and I should be stupid not to appeal,He said that's my business to do,he is doing his business, what a business? Got a witness(the resident I was visiting who gave me the voucher came to see whats going on cause she knew I have voucher for the parked time with me) I mean this shouldn't be right, cant pay this ticket,no way,the time on the ticket I got and its been printed is 3 mins after my second voucher time starting,I got the new one and the old one with me,he got photograph of my tax disk and the old Voucher and the rest of the photos are with me in working car and new voucher on the screen. Any suggestions for grounds? Thanks
  13. Hi guys. I have a friends laptop, that just won't play ball. Basically, Windows appears to start normally, but after the starting Windows logo appears, the screen just goes blank (and stays blank). I have managed to start it in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt and Safe Mode with networking. All seem fine. I can go on internet, and surf, but only in Safe Mode. I have tried System Restore. The only restore point was day of purchase 'Crytical Update', but an attempt to do that failed. I got this message :- System Restore failed to extrace the file (C:\sExtend\sRmMetadata\sTxf) from the restore point. error code 0x80070005 (this code seems to be something to do with Windows Activation). I tried 'last known good configuration' and got the message 'Windows loaded normally'. I just can't understand why the screen goes black in normal mode. I have also done chkdsk c: /f /v /r (with cmnd prompt) but that hasn't helped. Must be something simple, but I can't figure it out. Thanks for help in advance.
  14. Hi I am new to the site and just wanted some advice. I had a 3 mobile contract which I ended 3 years ago at the end of an 18 month contract. I ended it by calling up and telling them that I was leaving and the reason was that their service was poor due to poor signal and problems with voicemails. I then cancelled my direct debit and thought nothing of it but I have since found out that I have a default for £82 which lowell have taken over and I have since paid in full. I emailed 3 complaints and have had many conversations with them but they will not remove the default. They are saying that the default is a true reflection of the account and that it was not logged that I ever called up complaining. I disputed this and asked for all itemized bills over the duration of the contract which I have since received. After looking over them I have found 2 calls made to them to make a card payment but nothing to 3 customer services although I could have called from a landline but I don't recall. My point is that I had spoke to them but I don't think they logged the calls which is their mistake. They say that they have no logged calls from me but I can prove I have rang up on 2 occasions and that they never logged the calls which highlights that they can make mistakes. I also do not remember getting a default notice from them as at the time I was working away and the letters may not have been passed on to me by my mother. The default that is on my account is now 3 years old and I would really like it removed. "Deep Breath" After looking through all the numerous bills I have noticed another massive mistake on their part, they have sent me some other persons phone bill with all their details on as well as all the persons call logs etc which I find very naughty. So the question is with the above information do I stand a chance of getting this thing removed ?
  15. my debitcard recently got refused when paying for shopping obv on a tight budget, but i knew i had money left got back home looked at my online portal found a payment called Amazon prime for £49 debited 28/1/13 at xmas i got given a £50 amazon gift card/voucher as a thank you by someone i looked back at the emails/order details when i used the giftcard on 2.12.12 it had bit right at the bottom about auto sign-up to amazon prime scheme if i did not cancel in 30days. bit cheeky. but had info to cancel membership etc straight on the website to amazon unticked and cancelled it, however gave no indication about the return of the money taken. on the phone to amazon explained the scenario operator on a very poor IP phone sounding like a dalek stated that because i had purchased previously [2011!!] and paid by the debitcard [even though that item was super saver free postage] i had enrolled myself in the prime scheme. any subsequent orders activated the prime scheme and thus the card give almost 2 yrs before was debited with the £50 [incidently the £50 item i just order was free postage too on the ad] stated i was none to pleased about this, a bit of a sharp practice after a wee bit of to'n'fro, where i was told there is nothing that can be done i needed to read the small print!! i said ok i'll goto my bank and get it back under the chargeback scheme 'we won't allow that' said the bod.. i said you've no choice, you can't just decide almost 2yrs later to debit a card without any notification. said email was sent on the 3rd jan i said no nothing received etc etc went over again how can you charge me £50 for this prime scheme about instant express postage when both the items i've had from them were FREE POSTAGE. eventually got somewhere when i said i was going to terminate the call and expose them on their twitter feed and do a chargeback. told the money had been recredited there and then. i'll wait and see if it appears if not watchout amazon..incoming!! after all that i did a quick look around and found lots of people have had this problem so if you've ever used amazon and given them your card number and then ordered again check your bank statement carefully. DX
  16. Hi there, I have searched high and low for information on whether my DRO would be stopped if I got a maintenance loan and grant when I start university this year but to no avail. i've tried to get to the bottom of whether these loans and grants are classed as income and would it affect the dro but there is nothing. Basically just this month I got my DRO through and it has dawned on me about income in general (i'm still shaky on the idea of getting a part time job whilst i'm in my current study at college) and since i have had my offers to numerous universities that means without my loans/grants I can't move and study at my preferred choice of university as the the loans and grants would be helping me with rent and living expenses. anyone had a DRO and still got loans/grants from student finance? or anyone know anything about maintenance loans affecting someone's DRO? I don't want to find myself in a flat miles from home living on little and having my DRO stopped on top of that! Surely if it's for higher education means this should not affect it right?
  17. Hi all, earlier today I got a parking ticket for £70 whilst I was parked on a Taxi Rank, strange, seeing that I drive a taxi, the Council Parking Warden said that because I was not in my Taxi,( I had nipped out for a pee) he could give me a ticket. The sign next to the Taxi Rank says "No stopping except Taxis at anytime" it does not mention anything about the Taxi needing to be attended. I know that I am supposed to be by my Taxi and available for hire if I am on a Rank, but that is a matter for the licensing officer and not a parking offence I hope. Has anybody got experience of this, or knows the parking law and can help please. It is not a red route, and there are no other restrictions in place, just a normal Taxi Rank. Many Thanks

  21. Hello! My sister accidentally took my 16+ photo-card today. She was caught by the bus inspectors. She said she accidentally took it because we both had the same oyster cover and few minutes later they called me to ask and I said she probably took it by accident. My question is, will my chances of getting another 16+ be affected? some say i'll have to do voluntary work to 'earn' it back or i'll be suspended for 3 months! It's not my fault because I was sleeping so I didn't know she took it but I can't say that obviously because she didn't mean to take it in the first place and that'll get her in more trouble. Please let me know. Thank you.
  22. Hi everyone. I work for a corporate, about 6 years now. Twice I've been sent to college by company. Finished twice with the highest grade. I have good record at work with relation to overall performance (attendance, sick, always on time, never refused to do my job etc). On Friday I've been approach by manager asking me to do some more hours to which I replied "no thanks". Minute later my colleague ask me why I am not interested in doing extra hours to which I replied "I have work my ass off for this company for the last 5 years, spent my free time on getting educated, when I could be sitting down the pub with my mates and now they are not interested in doing anything for me, so I am not staying any f****** minute longer". What I did not know is that my manager was sneaking behind by back. So she approached my and ask to repeat what I said to which I replied it was a private conversation between good friends and has nothing to do with her. Obviously I've been asked to step into the office and had a chat with her about how unacceptable it is to say thing like that about company and that it is not true, that they invested many in me etc. I said then "investment is something you care about, something you may want to make sure company will benefit from in the future and that during all that time I've been doing my HND certificate not even once anyone of them have come down and ask me how I am doing, is everything OK, not even mention college ended in June and they did not even asked my for a proof of final grade. I also said that it is now time to get me into practical training before I loose what I learned at college, they know I am not after more money but simple chance to put in practice all my knowledge. I then said I believe my opinion is justified by their actions or lack of it and I have sound grounds to feel that way." She was a bit shocked and said it is all for now, but I know I am gonna have to take b*******g on Tuesday when big boss is back and I am worry they may try to crucify me. Can I start packing my staff on Monday guys? What Is the worst possible outcome out of this. I just want to add that we (employees) have been slowly stripped from all our privileges like bonuses etc and overall morale is at its lowest ever been i.e. no one is willing to do any OT etc. Thanks for any advice, cheers!
  23. Having failed the selection proccess with 12 points for mental health issues, I have appealed. Is it right that the appeal is only about the day of the atos farce? If this is correct my appeal will be based on what did not happen as opposed to what is stated on the reportS. One report states that I was exsamined physically fully and that I had no problems, the second report states that I would not be exsamined as this would cause me to much pain, neither is true, as infront of a witness I told the nurse that she could examine me. So my question is how can I supply medical evidence from physios surgeons and consultants on something that never took place? Would it be sufficient just to produce the two conflicting reports and a written statement from the witness and let the tribunal decide which is true?
  24. Not received my award notice yet but seen a big chunk of money of which theTC office owes me in the bank today so hopefully it has now been resolved. After complaints I made and letters from the tax office saying I owe over£2000 and then confirming with the tax credits advisors that I do not and them admitting it was their mistake I don't know why it took this long to sort out. What took the biscuit was a final payment demand describing I had to payback this amount by 6th September. It seemed it was not until I got in contact with DMTC and them checking their system don't know why I was sent in their direction and made a note on end in fact I was indeed owed money to me. From then onwards the tax credits advisors attitude seemed to have changed and seemed to be in my favour. Strange. I can say now that I am pleased I took notes of my phone calls and sent my information in a nice reply with the overpayment form. A page long lol. I do have a question that this experience has brought up is now that as this was going on my claim was stopped and I am thinking when I do finally stop claiming for tax credits I am right in thinking I don't pay any of this back? this has got me a bit worried.
  25. Hi, Today Scotland have enacted changes to the Housing Scotland Act 2010 into law This now makes it harder for LLs and HAs to evict tenants who cannot pay the rent, as opposed to won't pay. See here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-19061258 G
