  1. Morning all, What is the best broadband provider for the Harrow area? Thanks.
  2. Hello all. I appreciate that this is the wrong sub forum to ask this so hoping to be moved to the appropriate one? My question is what device would you all recommend to record phone calls to such lovely people as banks, etc?
  3. what is the best pre paid credit card/debit card you can buy for online shopping for amounts less than £200 so to keep your finances in order and a limit on your online shopping? something you can buy from a newsagent without all the falaffle of appying online, whats good/bad?
  4. Hi all, I'll soon be moving home into a new 3 bedroom place 4 miles away. Anyway, I want to get everything set up in advance so that I can look for the good deals. I've been having a look online and checking out what quotes I can get for gas & electricity, but the range seems to be pretty huge. If anyone has any good suggestions, let me know please! Cheers, OhhEnnEmm.
  5. Having just inherited an iPhone 5, I am feeling my way around it and (sort of) starting to get used to it. But, unlike Android based cellphones, the iPhone (even the later models, I am led to believe) will not, as standard, record a conversation. So third-party Apps and/or workarounds are de rigueur and widely used by those of us with such a need. Unfortunately, I am: A) Skint B) An Apple OS novice:oops: Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone reconciled it? We wonders. Aye, we wonders.
  6. My son was billed by Harlands for a cancelled DD and an admin fee. I did not want to get into copious amounts of correspondence with them over the issue, so I advised him to pay the £39 claimed. I then issued a Moneyclaim online summons to Harlands for the £39 plus the court fee. They did not bother to defend and a judgement was entered against them. A final letter to them advising that if they did not pay the judgement within 14 days a bailiff would be appointed at a further cost of £77 plus bailiffs fee. Within 48 hours they had paid in full. If ever I have a dispute with a company, I always pay in full to avoid any possible credit rating issues, and then retrospectively sue. To me, this is easier than entering into months of fruitless correspondence.
  7. How to fight / complain about a council Norwich city council / Norfolk county council (both names on letters) that you believe are idiots and or committing fraud Actually in credit (£35) with rent account and council tax as we pay shortfall ourselves... but I'm a carer for 1 of 2 of my autistic daughters and my missus works for fixed salary with no chance of overtime ever.. so you'd think h/b and c/t benefit would be fixed. Not a chance when missus worked 5 days a week we got around £10 per week h/b, now same job but 3 days only, as original job holder has come back from maternity. we got just £1.10 a week ... no sense or reason. Asked for written explanation from council, both verbal over counter and via telephone, 6-8 weeks later no response. we have done and have receipt for change of circumstances from November ( 5 to 3 days work ) from council. now April time and suddenly we got a letter from housing officer with projected housing benefit from council (not the council ) saying they would be paying £55 1 month, £97 the next month and then £45 the month after that.... problem is we have a paper debt of £538 rent arrears. This I sorted myself and it's purely a computer error from projected h/b to actual h/b received (i.e council say gonna pay £100 but only pay £40 so a -£60 debt occurs on paper but not in account as we pay short fall) I've done the letter requesting a detailed written breakdown of all housing benefit since claim beginning - ignored ( 6- 8 weeks now) asked for a review of it - nothing but recalculates showing different amounts every week! ( just the standard letter -no explanation ) I've phoned and read from council letter saying please ask for a detailed breakdown made very clear this was what I was asking for - the response was I can only print off letters you have already received !! how do I fight someone who basically knows its wrong but wont admit it? who is the person to complain to in charge of h/b or higher? would SAR's and / or L.B.A ? be next step?
  8. Hi all I need some advice, I want to pay off all my debts. Background :- I have around 5 debts One is statute barred so I wont worry about that one Two others I am paying off weekly or monthly but will take about 8 years with what I am paying Two the judge ruled I had to pay but I have not paid anything for 2 years and not been chased for payment either. One of them includes a charging order on my house. Can I get this removed if they settle for an offer? My circumstances will be different in around 6 weeks time when a large sum of money will be available to me. So the question is this :- Do I get a balance owed for all my creditors then send them a full and final offer? I have had previous letters for 50% discount. What do I offer to pay them? Can I get a CCJ cancelled if I pay them areduced amount. Basically I want to get it all paid off so I can start fresh so any help would be appreciated. I dont know if this is right but I remember seeing something somewhere that if I sent the same offer to all my creditors and most of them agreed then the others would have to agree as well? Is that right?
  9. We had a second charge against our home of aapx. £24k about 10 years ago. we have been paying £30 per month since then. So the current balance will be around £20k. My family want to help me remove this charge. Can someone please give me any advice on how to best approach this. A sample letter to write to the debtor maybe asking for a discount to settle and release the charge. Thank you. GH
  10. I will be travelling to France next week, and am looking for a sim card for use in France to call and text back to the U.K. I have looked at several deals but none are suitable.Ideally,I am looking for around 1,000 international minutes and around 200 text messages.I hav elooked at 02,vodaphone,3,I.D(who I currently have a contract with), but none give a good deal for the prices they are charging.Lyca mobile have some amazing offers, but after reading some reviews,I am not so sure.........Is there anyone on here who has been to Europe, and used a sim for contacting the U.K.?.If so, who was the best provider please?
  11. Hello I have various outstanding PDL loans that I've been ignoring and need advice on the best way to sort them out. I want to begin repairing my credit file ASAP. Wageday. Default £286 Not paid since Nov 15 Lending Stream. Default £507 Not paid since Sept 15 Uncle Buck Default £307 Not paid since Oct 15 Instant Cash Loans t/a Payday UK Late Payment £608 Not paid since Jun 16 I also show two settled accounts: Pixie Loans LTD and Mr Lender - both of these accounts I've received letters chasing the debts from CRS and SLL Capital. What does this mean? These two companies who the letters are from aren't on any of my credit reports. My account with Instant Cash loans hasn't defaulted. If I ring them and agree a payment plan will it default? I have already rung Uncle Buck and agreed to clear the debt in two months with a partial settlement. Was this the best thing to do? My overall objective is to prevent any CCJs. Thanks for reading
  12. Hi I have several defaults for various amounts totalling approx. £5000. For whatever reason I didn't pay my bills for several months and am now in a position to begin tackling this mess. I can probably pay off all of the debt in around nine months settling several smaller accounts within three months. Lots of the debts have been sold on to various debt collection agencies. They're offering me various discounts to write off part of the debt which I am open to for obvious reasons. However I am also keen to begin the process of rebuilding my credit rating ASAP and am wondering whether it is better to settle in full for this reason? I've also read that if you only settle partially, the remainder of the debt can be sold on which is concerning. If I decide to offer a partial settlement which is then accepted, how do I avoid that scenario? Thanks
  13. This Bank has given me no letters to say that I am overdrawn and ive had no defaults at all. I have only had good experiences with them on my basic account. bankers4me
  14. Now that i have a shiny new smart phone i need a home accounting APP. Free is possible. Personal recommendations are always the best Any recommendations as i am not that Tech Savvy so a dummies guide program will be ideal. Many thanks
  15. Hello I have been victim of constructive dismissal in past and been on lot of short term work - obviously trying to get permanent work I went to one place within two months offered perm role Obviously since then work been zero hour contracts - not been by choice - was told on phone by someone - you've not been in jobs long have you, seemed a bit rude - how is best way to handle next time - I said it's been lot of project based work and I would have stayed in roles if given opportunity.

The Credit Today Awards is the largest awards ceremony in the industry. Marston Group received the award for a range of vulnerability initiatives established throughout its business, in support of customers that are potentially in need.
  17. Hi Guys I've been granted a default judgment against a large well known house builder company for just under £5k. They initially filed an acknowledgement of service to defend the claim but failed to respond after I sent the particulars of claim. I took the next step to request payment immediately but would like some advice about the best way to enforce this judgment if they fail to make the payment. Can they still apply to have judgment set aside at this stage? If so, what happens next? Your help would be appreciated as I'm unfamiliar with these matters.
  18. Hi all not been on here for many years but i hope im asking in the right forum, if not please move Ive got a DMP had it for several years slowly steadily paying my debts off . The thing is my dad owns a few houses and to offset any inheritance tax he's thinking of putting a house in my name, now if he does and i sell the house ill have x amount in my bank and if my creditors see it they will want or even might want their share. I want to put the money into a project that will earn more money which means i can pay my creditors off when it suits me Now my question is: can i put my dads or someone elses bank details on the conveyancing form so the money will not go into my own bank account? Or is it a legal requirement that the house owner has to put their own bank details for any monies to be paid into? thanks
  19. I have been looking into entitlements all day and I am just going round in circles. I could really do with some advice. The abolishment of the family element in housing benefit is my main worry. I don't know if it will affect me or not? I have a 2.5 year old and our second baby is due in May, and according to 'entitledto' we will be entitled to some housing benefit in 16/17. But I don't know if this will start after I have the baby, or when I go on maternity leave in April. Also, as mentioned above, I don't know whether the abolishment will affect the result I am getting. I know it only affects new claims after 1st May, so if I submit my claim in April when my maternity leave starts- will I be entitled to the family element? I am thinking I will still get it, because I already have a child and my circumstances are changing prior to 1st May. Now, it seems I will be entitled to more help (around an extra £70 a month) if I do not continue with my childcare vouchers through my employer. But I don't want to opt out of the scheme to find that the calculations were all wrong and I would have been better off with continuing with the childcare vouchers. Would it be possible to cancel the childcare vouchers once I've heard back regarding my claims? Anything else I need to consider? Thank you in advance!
  20. Hi Everybody, I have a local cafe business which I am looking to relocate to a better, more prominent area of my town. At present, I have been trading for less that 1 year yet the business has seen significant growth and customer footfall is increasing despite it’s current location within the town’s local market (which has seen better days!) Recently, a rare opportunity to rent a shop on the main busy high street has presented itself and I am very eager to move my operation to this new premises. The shop is smaller than my existing premises, however I would be looking towards providing ‘food to go’ rather than offering a seated menu. Furthermore, I would be keen to carry on renting my existing kitchen facilities to produce the ‘food to go’ for the new shop, with the existing cafe operation being reverted back to how it was before I took over – moving my branding etc to the new shop. I have a 2 months waiting period before the occupiers of the new premises move out. What would be the best strategy to help me pull this off successfully? All advice and constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated
  21. Hi, I am currently representing my daughter on the McKenzie friend basis in her claim for unfair dismissal on the grounds of discrimination ( pregancy ) We have followed all the procedures through ACAS and we are currently taking her employer through the Employment Tribunal, which has taking about seven months to get to a Trial which has been listed for next week 4/5th February 2016, this was after a previous hearing. Today i receive a letter from the Tribunal stating that the trial might be postponed on the grounds that despite knowing for a number of months that in any event, the trial would be considered by a panel rather than a single judge because it is a discrimination case, to use this as a reason, and so late in the day does not add up, they would have known months in advance that a panel would need to be assigned, so in using this has delayed even further. The Tribunal are also aware that the Respondents are in abuse of process as they have failed to abide the previous order for them to provide a trial bundle, witness statements and further and better particulars in readiness for the trial next week? Because of this we made an application for the Tribunal to make an unless order for this evidence to be giving as all of it is central to the claim and it had been previously ordered. We have also written to the other side and in anticipating the Tribunal not making the unless order, which seems very reasonable, by stating that we would provide our own trial bundle and giving them seven days to object. Since all of this has happened in the last couple of days, the Tribunal as it would appear are bending over backwards in allowing the previous orders be breached and ignored and they have also giving the Respondents more time to defend a claim that evidently cannot be defended because of the circumstances which led to my daughter being dismissed. Whilst i am not legally qualified as to adjudge it would a appear that (a) she has been denied the right to a fair hearing because her opponents have abused orders which if followed would have allowed the trial to proceed and ( b) the Tribunal could have not only made the request for that evidence to be disclosed, in postponing the trial next week, giving those facts and the excuse of needing a panel, which would have been knowledge as soon as pleadings were made, i feel this is unequal and unfair as the Tribunal are not only allowing orders to be breached, they are also giving the Respondents more time to further breach the orders. My daughter i feel has a very strong case and my theory is that because of the strength of her case, the opponents and the tribunal are doing everything in their power to keep this matter out of court. It is hard enough and most times financially impossible for pregnant woman to establish unfair dismissal claims because they are pregnant, the Tribunal who should protect, if my experiences are anything to go on make it even more difficult by allowing employers the right to ignore orders and as in this case give further encouragement for this to happen again by postponing without reason or justification. Any help would be greatly appreciated by this angry dad:mad2:
  22. Hi long time lurker. I have got into a situation where I have ran up some quite high debts with Mbna and Barclaycard and these are due to pop the interest rates very soon. I have been reading that sometimes a DMP is not the best way to get interest frozen and maybe to stop paying all together to get the debt moved to a DCA. I am a home owner with not much equity and owe roughly 15k to barclays and 10k to mbna all debts are 2 years old and fully paid no missed payments or chaerges on the account . thank you
  23. First let me say hello and thankyou in advance for any advice or help. A brief account of my problem... Received court letter from hoist holdings re debt from Lloyds. It is a CC and was used from around 2007 - defaulted around 2011 . They are claiming in total with court fees and interest a total of just over 9k. They have and will continue to add interest every single day so this debt will only get bigger. This is what I have done so far - 1. Sent a letter to hoist holdings asking for copy of credit agreement etc 2. Sent letter to their solicitors requesting CPR...agreement/contract and Default notice. ** its not really relevant but it was never my intention to get to this postion. the CC was taken out while I was married and naively I thought that my job would be secure..my marriage would last... In 2011 it all changed and I found myself divorced and on job seekers.. I did in 2011 write to folk with a breakdown of my finances and a letter explaining my situation. Offering a token payment with the promise of larger payments when I found work etc. They did not want to know, and went on to sell the debt on... ** Sooo fast forward to now. And I got the court letter... which I have dealt with as above. I have looked on another website and only seen this website today. I wonder ----> what forum would be best for me and this issue? any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thankyou folk :0)
  24. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/65567/best-car-insurance-companies-2013 I'll add my own experiences with swiftcover through and beyond this period start 2013 - start 2015 It was initially very difficult to contact them if you had doubts or problems with 'self management' at the start, but by the end of my time with them, the email contact had improved massively and the responses were good rather than just a response referring you to the premium rate number as it was at the start. The self management online changing of features/cars was effective and penalty/charge free and gave no shocking increases in charges as a result, and in one of the cases resulted in a reduced premium with the difference speedily paid back into my account. I did not need to make any claim, so cannot comment on that side of their service. I left due to increases in basic renewal premiums/cost, parhaps due to the increased cost in customer service. No issues at all with leaving. and the 17 years NC was on the renewal offer and confirmation available for download from myspace on swiftcover. They also apparently confirm to other companies on request - per Hastings Direct.
  25. My first contribution to this site. I owe the Co-operative Bank money on a credit card and had problems with repayments. They were being quite unpleasant about it (I had asked for a 'breathing space') in one week claimed to have passed my debt onto a collection agency and then said they were taking me to court. I wrote to the CEO Niall Booker and he sorted things out and I received an apology and a cheque for £75. its worth going straight to the top. I also discovered that Phil Burrows who I received a lot of post from doesn't actually work there anymore! Is this normal for a bank to continue using the name of an ex-employee on their letters? Does Phil Burrows know?
