1. I bought a Samsung 32" LCD Smart TV from Littlewoods back in November (ish) 2013. After just 3/4 months, the TV developed a fault, sound but no picture and had to be repaired under warranty for a faulty inverter. Now, not even 3 years old and it's gone again, same fault, sound but no picture/black screen. Phoned littlewoods, won't help, phoned Samsung, won't help. Although it wasn't a majorly expensive purchase, it was still over £300 and it didn't even last 3 years. Is there anything I can do? TIA
2. Experts say most people only use 10% of their brain’s potential. What if there was a pill that could unlock the other 90%? Clinical Trials have shown that the ingredients in this pill can boost your brain power, sharpen your mind, and sky-rocket your energy levels. Has anyone heard about this Pill. Good, bad etc.Just came across the article. Not had time to go into it in great depth.Just wondering. The link. Is This Smart Drug The Most Powerful Brain Enhancer in the World? http://secret-brain.com/?source=socialpubs&a=69 Another article. Scientists: Drugs to boost brain power should be legal for wider use. Healthy people should have the right to boost their brains with pills, like those prescribed for hyperactive kids or memory-impaired older folks, several scientists contend in a provocative commentary. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=6428947 I am thinking of donate ing my brain to the scientists.Sort that out if you can thoughts.
3. Hello, I hope someone can offer some guidance. I'm writing on behalf of a friend who isn't very internet savvy, he had a PPI claim back in 2008 for a lot of cards/loans and went to Bank Smart to manage it (not realising at the time he could have done it himself). to cut a long story short, they didn't do much, he ended up dealing with the bank directly and then last month they won against him in the county court for unpaid fee's of 9k. He did issue a defence which said that they didn't do anything for the money but they had a tonne of paperwork and won. Now here is what he did not realise at the time of the court case - he went bankrupt in 2011 and this affects the debt. A few notes: He did tell bank smart in 2011 that he had gone bankrupt and they requested a copy of his bankruptcy certificate which he emailed to them - so they knew. He didn't mention the bankruptcy in his defence as he didn't think it was relevant. The money recovered from PPI went to the mortgage company for the house which at the time was the responsibility of the official receiver. Can you tell me where he stands and how he might phrase an N244 defence to set aside? Thanks

5. I just thought that I'd share that I've been with a company called Utilita for a year now and had their prepayment Smart Meter energy. From the get-go, I've had nothing but great service. The handiness of having an accurate (to the minute) update on what I'm using, how much I've used and how long I've got left before I need to top up has been immense. be warned they don't participate in warm home discount in all cases, but on that note, as the sales person told me that I would get it, they honoured that, apologised for the confusion and sent me a letter as proof of honouring their mistake. Something I've never really seen an energy company do. On top of that, Since moving to them I've had two price decreases, both outside and before the "big 6" decreased their prices and at 2% more than each of their decreases. The only gripe that I have, and a minor one, is that their smart-phone app only deals with payments. It doesn't have any interaction with your energy usage results. Anyhoo, I thought that amidst the gloom and doom of energy I'd share this little gem. Hope this helps others! Cheers, Ade
6. Hi, On 24 Feb 2016, I got PCN pasted on my car's windscreen with the reason 'No Valid Ticket'. That was handwritten PCN issued by patrol officer No. TEMP1. I dont know what sort of TEMP1 is who issued this ticket. I was not aware of paying for parking which could be claimed back on till. I did some shopping at that time and paid through my credit card. I brought that PCN along with my shopping receipt to customer services and requested them to cancel it out but they refused, I spoke with patrol officer but he also refused to cancel it out. I went back to ASDA Customer Service to try again, on second refusal I did protest, returned back all of my shopping and told them that this was my last visit to ASDA. I also told them that I will not only write this to ASDA Headoffice but also will put this on social media websites that how ASDA butchering their loyal customers who take pain to come to their store. It is very unjust that if mistake is been done by ASDA, they just say sorry for inconvenience, but if customer makes any unintentional mistake he is been charged. In my opinion this is totally unfair that you have reserved parking for customers but still penalizing them. On ticket, fine was showing £70 / £40 but when I checked detail of PCN on smart website it was showing £60 / £30. Luckily before moving ahead, I visited this consumer forum and learnt that I can get my self out of this issue and I can save my hard earned money from these hungry giants. AA
7. British Gas Smart Meters have issued a safety warning regarding the Power Adaptor for their Smart Energy Meter. The letter states the following; It goes on to say, that the actual Energy Smart Meter is NOT affected & you are to keep that aside. A replacement adaptor will be sent out within the next 8/9 weeks, along with a envelope for you to send back the old adaptor. Once the new adaptor arrives, plug the Energy Smart Meter back in. The letter does not state any kind of serial/part number or area, I live in Essex, so I've no idea who may be affected or not by this. Contact 08009806121 Mon - Fri 8am - 8pm. Sat 8am - 6pm.

9. Hi, Just wondered if any could offer me some advice! Ive received a parking notice ( I won't say fine ) from Smart parking after overstaying about half an hour in Asda car park in Llandudno. Im aware the 'ignore' option is not the way deal with it these days, but the whole appeals procedure seems very complicated and its a straightforward case of overstaying, should I just pay it while its the lower £40 rate? My only defense is that I wasn't aware it was 3 hours parking only! Im sure there must have been signs around, but was in too much of a rush to notice. Im not from the area so I can't go and check. Just wondering whether an appeal would have any chance of success Thanks
10. Energy giants are set to use digital smart meters as a way to double the cost of power when families need it most — adding nearly £60 a year to the average bill. A Money Mail investigation has discovered Britain’s leading power firms are expected to introduce tariffs that charge more at peak times when they roll out new electronic meters which monitor how much energy you use by the second. It means electricity and gas used in the evenings could cost 99 per cent more than at other times — penalising everyone cooking family meals, watching popular TV shows and heating their homes on chilly winter evenings. Higher charges will also apply in the morning when people are most likely to be taking baths and showers and having the central heating on. Money Mail has discovered that British Gas has already trialled a tariff that charges more at peak times. 11. Good morning Looking for some advice bout this company. My partner is the owner of my car but I drive it and use it for work..he has his own car. When I got home from work last night there was a letter from Smart Parking Ltd: Now, I know that I definitely did not use this store on this or any other date in the last 2 years. It is located at least 7 miles from me, across a very busy town centre (I have a large local ASDA about 2 minutes down the road from where we live so use that one). In addition, I would have been leaving work at about 5.15pm on a Monday and as I work 20 miles away I cannot see how the car could be in 2 places at the same time! My partner is understandably upset about this as it is in his name and he has just got his credit rating back on good standing. Can anyone please give some idea of what to put in writing in this appeal - they have sent no evidence..how can they? You can't put a ticket on a car that was not physically there! MC
12. Smart underwear designed to protect male fertility from radiation emitted by smartphones and laptops has been unveiled by a British scientist. Described by Sir Richard Branson as "underpants for superheroes", the Wireless Armour underwear contains a mesh of pure silver woven into the fabric. It shields against 99.9 per cent of electromagnetic radiation, which is emitted from devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, and has been linked to fertility problems by scientists. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/11800254/Pants-for-superheroes-Underwear-that-protects-sperm-count-by-blocking-smartphone-radiation.html
13. hi i received a letter from our van lease company stating that a parking company had been in touch to identify the owner of the van as a parking ticket has been issued. the letter stated i would have the opportunity to appeal etc and would i let the lease company know what my plans were with regards to paying it or appealing it etc once id heard. then i receive a letter from debt recovery plus for an unpaid ticket £150 stating failure to comply with their previous demands in a previous letter (which i never received and asked for a copy which i got but was dated the day before i received it) i contacted smart parking and explained id heard nothing since the lease company contacted me and then a demand for £150,i told them i wanted to appeal this ticket and what should i do etc, they were very rude and abrupt and told me to deal with drp,not sure what to do here as ive now received a second letter from drp for £150 today any help would be much appreciated as always
14. We've had two letters today First letter: Notice to owner date of contravention : 27/01/2015 letter dated: 02/03/2015 received by us : 11/04/2015 Apparently we parked in a parent & child bay with no children, we do have two children under 6 but cant say for certain if they were or were not present ( though child car seats would have been visible within the car regardless ) amount: £70 second letter Debt Recovery Plus date of notice: 09/04/2015 received by us: 11/04/2015 demanding payment of £120.00 no later than 23/04/2015 Both letters have arrived today, almost three months after our contravention who would I write to and what would I write, I recall a template of an appeal here but cant locate it. many thanks
15. Hi all, I have just received a PCN from Smart Parking for "the alleged breach of advertised terms and conditions within GREENWICH SHOPPING CENTRE CHARLTON on 21 April". It arrived within the 14 day period of the date of the alleged breach. They are "invoicing" me for £70, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days. The PCN shows two photos from their ANPR (?) system - one of me entering the car park, and one of me leaving it some 3 hours and 33 minutes later. The parking T's & C's allow 3 hours of free parking. The car park was only half full when I returned to my vehicle to leave. I have read many of the threads in this forum during the past 24 hours, including a recent one regarding Smart Parking Ltd and ASDA. All of the comments and advice that I have read are of great help. Could you please clarify my position, in your opinion, regarding the £40 fee, the 14 days, et al. NB - there is no mention of POCA 12 or section 4 (hope I have those correct), nor any mention of VAT on the "speculative invoice". Many thanks in anticipation.

17. Hi guys I live in the north of England and travelled to Crawley for a family function. During my stay I went to Asda yesterday and parked up genuinely without realising the pay and display. I received a ticket. Do I have to pay this? Any help is greatly appreciated Ash ]
18. Hi all, have been helping a friend of the wife's out with a parking ticket from smart parking. Original notice was for £30 but she only received the letter on the 16th day from the so called over stay, I think I have read correctly that they must write within 14 days. I will confirm the dates if needed, from the time of overstay to the day letter received. Sent an appeal in under those reasons or asking for POPLA code and they sent another notice this time for £70 and ignored the first letter sent via recorded delivery. Sent a 2nd appeal letter again via recorded delivery and this time they have provided the POPLA code. The actual car park is free and I am 100% sure when it first opened as a private parking the maximum stay was 2 hours, This has now been changed to 1.5 hours. The signs I have seen are small and where it stated 2 hours has now been changed to 1.5 hours, about the size of an A4 sheet of paper, if this even matters. Friend over stayed by 26 minutes while shopping at the various shops there. Could do with some help on next step and the POPLA appeal form on what to put down, I have read that the appeal should be arguing the genuine loss of earnings or something along those lines. Any help appreciated George P.S Have enclosed the latest letter as PDF
19. Hi everyone, On 15/11/2014, I over stayed the set 3 hours set out by Smart Park. Although to my knowledge there is no signage indicating a min/max duration of stay at the car park entrance. Although I may have missed it as it was dark. I have stupidly taken advice from elsewhere and have binned the letter. Yes, I still have the Charge notice reference. I have now received a letter from DRP (Debt Recovery Plus Ltd), with a total demand of £120 or court action. I am now concerned how I stand regarding this matter. Can I still appeal to Smart Park even though this matter has been handed over or do I now need to deal with DRP? I have read a few posts (which I am unable to link) concerning the matter. One of them was actually on this site with a standard copy/paste response for them. Posted by havinastella on 12/2/14. I planned to copy/paste the response as my appeal. However, unsure how this will work now DRP are involved. Can someone please advise? Thanks Chris
20. Received notification through the post today from my electricity supplier SSE informing me that I had been selected to be one of the first to have my meter replaced by a smart meter. This was despite me having informed them 18 months ago that under no circumstances would I entertain having one fitted. The publicity makes a lot of all the benefits to customers and suppliers, and used phrases such as the Government has said that ALL homes will be fitted with meters where possible by 2020. What was more concerning was that when I contacted the call centre listed to reaffirm my intention to opt out of the scheme, (which they did have a record of), the call centre operator still reiterated that I would have to have one by 2020. I have logged a complaint with SSE concerning the false information being provided and the lack of any mention that acceptance of these devices is not mandatory. I'm all for anyone who wants one taking advantage of the offer should they believe that in their circumstances that to have one would be beneficial, but DON'T lie to customers if they wish to reserve the right to decline.
21. Hi i'm new to this site.. My friend received a PCN from smart parking for £70 on his car yesterday on his University Campus. The University is free parking at all times with a parking permit. Without a permit you can park from 4:30pm to 9am. You may also may load or unload your car 9am-4:30pm when you usually need a permit. Me and my friend had just been to Tesco and done a big shop. Parking off campus is a nightmare and long walk so he just parked on campus while we unloaded our shopping. When we finished unloading and came back to the car there was a parking ticket on it. We saw the security guard who issued the ticket and he said "oh sorry, its too late to cancel it now for you, you need to talk to smart parking and i'm sure they will be sympathetic and let you off" (i bed to differ) When opening the parking ticket i noticed that it has a spelling mistake (not sure if this makes a difference?), seems to be missing some of the information (is there specific information that must be vacant on the ticket?) and also the University is called "St marys university" but on the ticket its says location is " st marys university college " which is a university in belfast and this one is in london! (also not sure if this makes a difference? ) I have read various other forums and posts stating that they can only charge me for actual losses and since its private land and and free parking where does £70 fit in to that? Should my friend ignore the PCN and await to see if they sent a notice within 14 days ? Or should he set about to write up an appeal stating various arguments ? I have read the following letter sent to them about a PCN should my friend follow the points in this? How strong are they? (it wouldnt let me post a link but its title is "Tcp / smart Parking - send cheque to apologise over speculative invoice debacle!!!! " Also one thing read that wasnt mentioned in that letter was asking for a POPLA code? Im unaware what this is? If someone could give some advice or a process best to follow to avoid this ridiculous charge that would be greatly appreciated ! Especially since students nower days dont have a spare £70 to cough up ! Thanks
22. Interesting news blog from the Prankster; ' The Prankster's Smart Parking mole has informed him that they have poached Ben Johnson from ParkingEye, and he is now Smart Parking's new Managing Director. Ben is rumoured to be ruthless, and his first action was to made a large number of redundancies, sweeping out unnecessary senior operations managers to streamline the operation. It appears the company will now concentrate primarily on ANPR only operations and remove manpower from sites. ' http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/are-smart-parking-next-parkingeye.html
23. We parked in Asda car-park in Brighton Marina from 19:05 hours until 23:09 on 17/11/2014 as clearly shown in the PCN photos of our number plate. We have we received a PCN from Smart Parking dated 02/12/2014. I understand that the PCN has to be sent by the 12th day in order to be valid. My question is, is this 12 working days or 12 days? And .. where do I find that information please? Incidentally, neither of us saw any signs indicating that parking was time-limited. I have looked at Google Earth, and you can drive in without seeing any signs. You successfully helped me get a PCN from Parking Eye cancelled, so I am willing to try again!
24. Received a parking charge notice through the post on 04/09/14 from 'smart parking' For parking in an Asda car park overnight. (slept in car) The charge was £40 within 14 days, or £70. If not settled within 28 days, an admin charge of £10 will be applied (so it says) "failure to respond to this notice may lead to civil legal action being taken to recover the parking charge notice charge (sic) together with any judicial expenses that may be incurred" It's been more than 28 days, and I've done nothing. I haven't received any more correspondence from them either. What would the best course of action be at this point?
25. Hi, i'm new here... I've just received in the post today (18th October 2014) a letter from Smart Parking... a Parking Charge Notice saying that on Wednesday 1st October, my vehicle entered the Asda Sheffield site at 08:52, and exited at 16:46... with a picture of my number plate on these occasions. It says I have 14 days from the date of the letter (16 October) to pay £40, then it goes upto £70. Obviously, this is a load of rubbish, as for whatever reason they've not recorded that I left the Asda car park at approximately 09:00 (having purchased newspapers for my next door neighbour... after this I went (in the car) to work, and was at work until approximately 16:30 - on the way home, I popped into Asda again to pick up something else... I didn't keep any receipts (as I don't usually expect to have to return newspapers, and had no reason to expect to get this stupid PCN). I then left the car park again at 16:46. Between 9:30 and 12:00, I (along with around 100 work colleagues) were at our company's Quarterly Employee Meeting at the local Holiday Inn for 2.5 hours - i've got a number of people who can confirm I was there if needed. I was then back in the office and I have work emails I sent out between 14:00 and 15:55 showing I was in the office... and there is absolutely no way on earth I would have parked at Asda all day and then walked down Sheffield Parkway, rather than parking in my own spot in the office car park! So, I know that this is either an error or a con on their part, I just want some advice on how to proceed... having read someone else's response on another thread, it appears ignoring it is not the best option (though on some other sites some people do just say to ignore!). I haven't had any involvement with this kind of thing before, so don't know what POPLA is (that was mentioned on other threads), or what I should and shouldn't say. I had been tempted to go back upto Asda and goto Customer Services, saying something along the lines of if they don't do something to get this cancelled ASAP, I won't be shopping there again, and that'll cost them a darn sight more than £40 a week! But as i've already been upto Asda this morning to do some shopping (before I got the letter), i'm wary of going in there a second time today... in case their camera is 'faulty' again. Any advice greatly appreciated - and just a warning to others who may visit the Asda twice in the same day, keep your receipts!
