lindylou1974 replied to lindylou1974's topic in Debt Collection Agencies
Hi, Thanks for replying. Im not sure to all of the above im afraid. Things have been a bit hetic recentely as i have had a bad accident so im just trying to get everything in check. I havent received any default letters from Shop Direct so im not sure. Not a great help im afraid. Lx -
Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me? I recently received a letter from Hamptons Legal acting on behalf of Lowell Portfolio Ltd which are acting on behalf of Shop Direct. I am disputing the amount they want from me as I stopped paying the catalogue as a dispute to theie service. Some of the goods that i purchased broke down within months and the catalogue ignored requests to get them fixed, replaced until the guarantees had run out of them. I am willing to pay some of the bill as i had the goods but i am not willing to pay for shoddy goods. The letter is threatening to add legal costs to the bill, i ignored the first letter but they havent stopped. I would like to get this sorted but as stated above, I am not paying for shoddy goods. Can anyone help me further as im not good at writing letters etc and dont know my rights. Thanks in advance L xx

Right so i need to file a claim online I really would prefer to do this on Mcol as i am doing this on behalf of my partner and havent got time to file at court due to work. I am claiming CCI, i am a bit worried about the POC as i havent really a clue what to put, i have read up about it but at this stage without help on what to put, im likely to ruin the claim. I be glad when this is all over, give you lovely people a break lol Lindy x

Thanks again All i know is that i have a 16/17 month old laptop that has suddenly shut down and wont turn on, so i dont know if it doesnt conform to the contract. I havent damaged it, if i had its covered under my home policy. I just annoyed that after 17 months its worthless. Thanks for your help Lindy x

Thanks for all your replies I really only want the laptop repaired if possible but was worried as the item is no longer under warranty i wouldnt be covered and would have to pay myself? I am not looking for a refund. Should i just call PC world, i just wanted some backup incase they said no warranty no repair Many Thanks again xx

Hi Spike Thanks for your reply, i phoned work and if they would have provided me with a computer it would have been covered by them. However it was a voucher and they have said it the same as buying with cash. So where do i stand? Lindy x

Hi I bought a presario 4000v laptop approx 16 months ago and all was well until the other day when it crashed. I couldnt turn the laptop off by the usual log off facility as it had crashed so i had to manually turn it off by the power. I then just got a white screen, the power was off but i still had a white screen so i disconnected the battery and when trying to turn the Laptop on again , i got nothing. The laptop is dead, wont switch on and my warranty is finished, i am a bit annoyed as i bought the laptop through a scheme in work where i pay them monthly so 20 months left of payments and a dead laptop. Ive checked with work and they wont cover it. I bought this from PC world. Can anyone help?? Lindy xx

Hi I read before if claiming CCI then dont accept a part payment. Im sure you can request a cheque as its your money after all. Someone else will probably be along to explain a bit more about rejecting a part payment. Heres a link for the letter for rejecting the offer. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/25716-rejecting-offers.html Hope this helps Lindy x
