  2. Hi All, Any day now Im hoping to reveice the £2,500 that Halifax owe us, and my Mum has just arrived with the last 6 yrs of statemets that total up another £1,500 of charges. From looking through various threads in the RBOS section it appears that they really do put up a fight. Are they harder to win over? Any top tips? thanks Jude
  3. The acknowledgement of service was dated 11th July, So I guess 28 days from there takes us up to 9th August. I have been reading through the paperwork and the Halifax had 4 options in their Acknowledgement..... 1 Admit to the claim 2 Admit to part of the claim 3 DISPUTE THE WHOLE CLAIM AND MAKE A COUNTER CLAIM AGAINST US 4 Ask for 28 days to prepare a defence or to contest the courts jurisdiction. Its just occoured to me that if they were really on the ball and so sure about their charges, they would have chosed option 3 but they have gone for option 4 instead. Sorry - Im not she sharpest tool in the drawer! I keep checking the account daily, I will update you when I hear anything..

  5. Just been away from home for a few days and returned to find a notice that Acknowledge of service has been filed. The halifax intend to defend all of the claim. Its signed by A O'Brien - the Defendants solicitor ( Head of legal services) and I feel physically sick now. I know when I started all this that i was prepared to go right to the end, but Im just really scarred now. Have many others got to this stage? Please re-assure me if you have! cheers jude

Not sure where to post this info, forgive me if its in the wrong place, had a bad few months, and only just been able to complete the forms. it didnt tell me which court it would be in (will that info follow?) good luck to everyone else
  8. Recieved all statements after much messing about by the halifax, totalled up the hideous £2500 they have charged in just 3 months and then sent the first letter off. Just had reply back from them offering £400 as a gesture of good will. Second letter goes in the post today
  9. best of luck, I am just so excited about this whole thing!
  10. Before posting my DPA letter today I phoned and asked the Halifax how much they would charge me for some copy statements....they bloke was most helpful and told me its as many as you want for a fiver. So in my letter I stated that their charge is £5 and I enclosed just that (cheque)
  11. it will come to you when you are least expecting it (the love and the loan)
  12. good luck Joanne, Mine has gone off in the post today too
  13. I though he was a weather man? I was just wondering, does he actually have to use the stamper thing every time his signature appears on the bottom of a letter, cause looking thorough our files he must be limp wristed by now
  14. The DPA letter is in the post today to halifax.... Its not actually for me but for my other half. When we met he was 3,500 overdrawn and in such a state I felt for him so much, The halifax had actually extended his overdraft to 3,500 from 2,500 just so that they could re-coup the 900 charges that they had just hit him with. They were paying some DDs and charging him, they were returning some and charging him, and then banging loads of interest on top just for a laugh! I was so appalled at how they were treating him I went into the local branch with him and tried to get the customer services manager to repay some of the charges. (even asked if they could just wait a few weeks before taking them) Every charge they were giving him was just making his situation worse, and it was just like a giant snowball. The bloke in the halifax was just so cold and couldnt care less about my friends situation. ( His Marriage had just broke up, wife had started her own business and it had all gone a bit tits up, so he got all the debt to deal with) so really it wasnt even his fault. I did ask the usual charges, how do you justify etc... but got nowhere. That was November last year, and I finished up giving him money just to stay in the red that they had caused - it was an awful time, but as per the title, I am totally charged up and inspired by everything I have read on this site and will update anyone who is interested. Good luck to everyone else!
