  1. on what grounds are you going to go back and state SOGA??
  2. Just regarding your comment about formatting the partition and going for a clean install, this is fine as long as you do an image or backup of the recovery partition. However on fujitsu's this recovery partition is not required as you get a full OEM copy of windows xp with them. So yes you can delete it however it just meants it takes a lot longer to recovery your machine if you have any problems. Generally these machines can be recovered using the drivers and utilities disk which then access's that recovery partition. To put it in a nutshell, if you do it it means it will take longer to recovery your machine, or put up with it and have a smaller acccesible space.
  3. If you purchased the laptop in January and took out the PC performance service agreement, this covered you for Data recovery in store (providing the hard drive is not physically damaged.i.e. not calibrating) The old coverplans did not cover you for data recovery, however since October 2006 all coverplan agreements cover you for free data recovery. Remember this service does not guarantee data recovery.
  4. I think a lot of people reading regarding PC repairs are a little bit sceptical. I am aware that in some stores the Tech Guys knowledge and skills will all vary, however i know for a fact in my local store the tech guys are very very knowledgeable and wouldnt make such minor mistakes.
  5. Usually after the third repair, depending on how far the repairs are apart from each other the item would be written off. However because you have the service agreement it is up to the repair workshop and coverplan to write it off. Best bet would be to take it to store, explain all the repairs, they can then look on there system at the repairs, and then ask if they could request for it to be written off. Generally a good customer service department, with a bit of persuasion can make this happen, usually via email to head of customer services.
  6. Your best bet would be to go straight to the head of customer services. Usually to avoid publicity and any other legal proceedings "in my experience" they usually replace or repair the laptop, either free of charge or at a discounted rate.
  7. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. First of all I would just like to mention Currys do not have Tech Guys, so he must of been just a normal customer advisor. Unfortunately the post before regarding responsibility of data is not covered by Tech guys, unfortunately this is true, the specialist terminal they use is provided by Ontrack and is a very hit and miss terminal. The only other thing that you could possibly pursue is taking it to a PCW store and ask for the advanced recovery process, however you would be looking at 699GBP
  8. Sorry I also missed off my last post, the sticker on the bottom of the laptop is slightly worn in the middle (looks like a rip), this is how the new style windows COA's look.
  9. Before you go in and speak to Currys just to clear up about the disks. All machines sold via DSG (currys and PC world) with the exception of Toshiba, require the user to create the recovery disks. They do not come with the unit. Hence why they are "copied" disks.
  10. Laptop screens done just crack. Generally it is pretty easy to see impact damage and the point of impact. I have yet to see a screen just crack. Any decent tech would be able to see the cause of the problem and the point of impact.
  11. I received £180 goodwill payment from HSBC Credit card two weeks ago after sending them a LBA for £81. So gained on that one. I have claimed £3279 on my HSBC current account, this is now in Northampton court and should be seen in 28 days.
