  1. The rover K-series is as prone to HGF (head Gasket Failure) as any other make of engine (just remember the PSA 1.9 XUD9TE). If the cooling system is not bled properly after re-filling, the coolant boils, and the resultant cavitiaiton causes 'hotspots' in the engine block and cylinder head. This then warps the head, causing HGF. Another reason for failure can be using water, instead of water/anti-freeze in the correct ratio. There's plenty of people here...MG-Rover.org Forums - Powered by vBulletin who can help. I have had a Renault Megane with HGF after the bleed screw leaked (cost me £190 all in), and therefore sucked in air after cooling, and also a K-series HGF on a 416i the day after I bought it when a clip rubbed through a hose (free, though it took the garage 3 weeks to get it back to me...did lend me a 420 in the meantime) Please don't be put off by the Rover K-series...it is one of the best engines around if looked after, and was way ahead of it's time when it came out (and still is compared to some. My 414 has a 1.4 litre K16 and puts out 104 bhp!). Robin
  2. Evening. My broker (Dial Direct) is cancelling my policy at 2400 on the 23rd oc due to the DD bouncing (bank problems at the mo!). I have tried to get them not to cancel, as I get paid on the 25th, and I'm more than happy to pay the installment by card then. However, they won't budge on the cancellation. But...they stated in the letter that they had to give 7 days notice in writing and they sent the letter on the 18th and I received it today (which by my calculations is the 25th). I told them this, and they claimed that the policy booklet states that failing to collect the payment a second time counts as notice in writing...even though the letter is dated the 18th!!! Have I got any recourse with regards to this. I know I broke the terms first, and I was all for paying on the 25th, but surely their letter blatently lied in saying I had 7 days notice? Not too bothered, as I'm going to change insurers anyway, but it's a right pain in the nipsy. Robin
  3. Thanks for that info and letter...It cheered me up, especially after learning that the council are extracting £320 - this month! - on an attachment of earnings (swear font) Hope it's not 'Karma' for me wanting to nail HBOS! Robin
  4. Posted SAR recorded on 6th Oct and as of today, Royal Mail still haven't delivered it. Nothing on Track and Trace. Even rang Halifax head office and 'they haven't received it'. Don't know who's worse...HBOS or RM...!
  5. Morning all, I am currently paying Robinson Way & Co. £50 per month on a Capital One debt of £1365.90. I've not used the card for ages, and I've been paying RW&Co for ages too. Question is, can I still claim back from Captial One back 6 years? Thanks, Robin
  6. Hello all, I'm new here, so be gentle. Just started the claim process as the Halifax have recently decided to charge me £39 x2 for failed DD's. I am also expecting a charge of at least £28 for these charges making me overdrawn. I've been a good boy for the past year or so, but before that I sort of wasn't. I therefore sent in a DPA request today. Registered delivery and a crossed PO for £10. Can't wait to start to looking through 6 years worth of statements. I shall let you all know of my progress Robin
