  1. CCA'd HF yesterday by recorded delivery, and RM website states delivered already! Original defence was that most if not all of the balance of the account was charges, and that I was requesting the credit agreement from C1. This turned up after 30-odd days I have a letter from C1 offering £272 (out of £776), and copies of all the letters I sent them, plus statements.
  2. The application form is unfortunately missing. I did ring the court and they said no bundle submitted by HF, though! Robin
  3. I sent a cca to Capital one who the debt was originally with - they owe me £776 from charges, but I can't afford the MCOL fee to kick it off - they only offered £272. A copy of the flyer I filled in was sent to me (which the wife appears to have binned) and nowhere on this was any mention of the APR etc, if that's any use. Can't remember how long I've had the debt, but like I said, Court is 5th Sept, 1400h at a small ex-steel town SE of Hexham-ish. I have all my statements from C1. Robin
  4. Can anyone help on this? I have a court date on 5th Sept as the defendant - HF and Robinson Way are taking me to court over my debt. However, on the Notice of Allocation to Tack, it states that 'The parties must file at the court and serve on the other party not later than 14 days before the hearing the following: (a) copies of all documents upon which they wish to rely (b) ...etc 3 Parties should note that if they do not file and serve documents and statements as set out abovethen the court may decide not ot admit the evidence of the party in default'. HF/Robinson Way have not served me with anything, and there is 1 week to court. What does this all mean? I have been rather stupid about this one, and had other things on my mind - not the best way to defend ones self! Thanks, Robin
  5. The internal combustion engine is our saviour. Imagine all the beasts a farm would need to plough, etc, the multiply by tens of millions, and then realise just how mush worse all the methane produced by the beasts is compared to CO2. Currently, animals produce more 'greenhouse gases' than all forms of transport put together! I do know that global warming exists, just I also think that it's cause is more to do with natural cycles, rather than man. Vaguely remember being taught at school years back that we were coming out of an ice age...I guess that meand earth is warming up whatever we do. And yes, Renaults suck. As do French cars in general.
  6. Atitudes do need to change - the one where people believe in global warming for a start. Sure the planet's temperature is on the increase, but it has done that in cycles for millions of years. The current hysteria regarding GW is all for the benefit of neo-labour who want to tax the tits off us. I have to have a car for work. I buy older cars (currently an N-reg Rover 414 for the wife and a Rover 220 Coupe for me) as I can't afford nor get the credit for new ones. Under your scheme, these 2 perfectly good cars would either have to be scrapped or I would have to pay £240 and £380-ish respectively. And as much as I hate soap-dodging hippy ****, the way I see it, I'm recycling, no new reserves are used up and MW of power are not consumed in creating the cars I buy. You hardly ever see real old cars any more...my Coupe is the oldest car in my works car park. Still has a catalytic convertor though. If anything, there should be a curb on sales of new cars until the older cars are so knackered they fall to bits. TG
  7. I really would like this too. You obviously have so much money yourself that you can afford tou buy me and the wife a car each. Might as well buy my fatha one too. If you don't want to do this, I suggest you either buy me 2 houses, closer to where me and the wife work, or just give us £35k cash per annum. And by the way, current hybrid cars such as the Honda Inshighte or Toyota Pious are far, far worse on fuel economy than a small-ish petrol or diesel such as the Citroen C2 or Pug 107. [edited], insulated in your comfy worlds where you can afford a brand new car every 3 years or so, or a shiney house. Some of us don't have this luxury and have to live where we can afford, miles away from **** wagons (public transport), and drive cars several people have owned. Nee offence like:rolleyes: TG
  8. I have so owned the Halifax...! Joint account - £264 paid into account this afternoon! Bills and old student account - Acceptance of £1921 sent on 6th Jan - hopefully cash will be in at the end of the week. Basically, as I couldn't do MCOL with Visa Electron, I rang up Customer Services and asked if there was any way it could be sorted without going to court as the courts were shut until 27th Dec. Guess what - they settled! I think they are learning that going to court costs more in fees and interest!!! Thank you very much CAG for all your help! Teethgrinder
  9. Evening, Sent prelim and LBA ages ago, and got the 'we will look into your complaint' letter. Another letter this morning, so I rang them. Told them I was about to send an N1 wht Court opemed tomorrow, and bloke said he'd ring back - 1535 and they caved in - £267 being refunded, once they send letter etc on thurs/fri!!! Wonder if they'll do the same with the other 2 claims (£1K+ each!!) Teethgrinder Apologies for rambling - on gin at moment.
  10. evening... Just went through to process of filling in my MCOL forms, however when it came to paying by card, visa electron (card of the pauper...!) there waas no option. Grrr. Is there a way around this without filling in forms by hand? The court isn't open until 28th dec, but it would have been nice to give the Halifax a nice Xmas present! Robin
  11. Evening...I was just thinking exactly the same, as I have just this evening added up all my charges - £1082 in total from around 2001 to present. BTW, it's the older statements (pre 2002) that is like this for me. Prelim will be sent tomorrow. Robin
  12. Well now..The Halifax turned down my kind offer of allowing them to repay all of my student claim (£1082) and not just £330. Guess it's LBA next  Why do they do this to themselves? It'll cost them more in fees! Robin
  13. Evening, wrote CCA request to marlin (who now have the debt). They have a copy of the agreement However, when I bought the car from Fenham Hall Motors in Newcastle, the persuaded me to sign 2 credit agreements - one blank. I know... The first one I signed had the financial particulars filled in by hand and I signed on the 27 apr 02. The second was signed by me only, not dated. When I received the copy this morning the financial particulars were typed in and it was signed by their representative on 30 apr 02. however the copy has a fax date on the top of 27 apr 02. Basically, I think that the copy I received is a copy of the 2nd blank form I signed. Can this be voided as it's not a true copy of the agreement, or am I stuffed. (the car was given back ages ago after paying over half of the total financed) Thanks, Robin
  14. Had a letter from Halifax regarding old student account - claiming £1082.49 - they have offered £330:lol:  Going to write back accepting partial payment and ask for the remainder tomorrow. Also seems strange how joint account claim was 'dealing with you as quickly as possible' and this one 'here's £330, go away' Robin
  15. If it was a dodgy second had one - sourced from a scrappy or badly reconditioned - it is possible that the shaft oil seals might have a leak. This can lead to oil seeping into the exhaust via the 'hot' side which then burns in the exhaust, or oil seeping into the intercooler pipes via the 'cold' side which then gets forced into the combustion chambers and burnt. Either way you lose oil and money! With my car (405TD) it would make no financial sense to replace the turbo with a new one, but then it just takes me to work and back...It's not the tool of my trade.! Robin
  16. Turbochargers do connect up to the lubrication system - the oil lubes the bearings. It is important to let the car idle for at leat 30 seconds after a particularly hard run in order for the turbo to 'spin down' otherwise the lack of oil whilst the vanes are still spinning will lead to (usually expensive) problems. Robin
  17. All info I needed was in the complex spreadsheet from Vampiress (thanks in abundance)... Added up £589 charges and £493.49 in interest accrued when account over OD limit. Prelim for £1082.49 being sent tomorrow!!! Come on Robin
  18. Righty...Old student account was interest free until I left. OD is £750. Can I claim all interest as debited as well as charges as notified, or just the portion of the interest for the amount over the OD limit? Thanks, Robin
  19. Ouch... that is harsh. Give it to them, in a financial deliverence stylee
  20. Hello... Just sent off SAR to Monument with PO for £10...Can't wait! Robin
  21. Oh yeah. SAR sent today with a PO for £10...40 days and counting!
  22. Sent the prelim for the joint account today And...just received statements for the bills account - £957! Therefore the prelim for this will be sent tomorrow. Also requested statements for my old student account from the local branch. The laydee behind the counter wanted to know why I wanted them, but just said that I was replacing ones I lost in a fire... Robin
  23. I'll bet they ragged it to McDonalds or something whilst the engine was cold. The K-series is not a fan of being ragged until warm. Robin
  24. Received statements for joint account, and they owe me £264! A little disappointed it's not more, but that is what the bills account and possibly my old student account is for... Prelim letter and schedule of charges will be sent tomorrow. I'm going to do to them what they did to me. :D Robin
  25. Are they the national company beginning with K or N? Up here, neither have the inclination to do engine work, so would probably pass it on to someone else. Some of the places I have been little more than (mildly) glorified fitters of parts. A classic kwikfit ploy is to use different flanges on exhaust fittings to everyone else. When you need a new part, you need to buy all the rest of the parts as they don't fit the parts on the car already. I try to do most work on my cars myself, but use independets as much as possible.
