got a reply from the good old bank of scotland today, and i'll quote it for all the avid fans of banks here.
Dear Mr Darling,
I am writing in respone to your letter dated the 30th 2006. Naturally i am concerned you have found cause for complaint and from the outset please accept my apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.
To Summarise, you are requesting the refund of any default charges applied to your account in view of the recent media coverage surrounding the subject.
Following publication of the OFT's report on industry-wide credit card charges , i can confirm that HBOS is reducing it's default fees- although it does not support all the OFT's findings.
HBOS Disagrees with the legal analysis of the default fees outlined in the OFT's statement published in april. However, the group confirmed 2nd june 2006 that it will be reducing fees across it's credit card product range to £12 with effect from 1st august 2006. And until that date all existing terms and conditions will apply, so unfortunately no refund of charges is due to you and the default has been registered correctly as a true and accurate reflection of how the account has been maintained.
I trust this response has clarified our position and resolves this matter for you.
I enclose a copy of our complaint procedures and all the usual rubbish.
Liam Pollitt
Customer care manager.
Now that i have a name and i'm going to let mister pollitt get both barrels and let him know excately what i think of his kindly worded letter telling me that HBOS isn't interested in my petty little concern and to get lost. Already phoned them up and told them excately what i thought of the reply to my concerns and it has been noted, the letter following it up should get them a little more interested.
