  2. Yes, thats along the lines of what I was thinking too. Apparantly, the banks say that they are "not supposed" to be enforcing these charges against minors, though as I see it, they're unenforceable against adults too, so why bother excepting one group but not the other? I suppose it may be related to the fact that financial contracts/credit agreements, etc. are only legally valid between persons over the age of 18.
  3. From Halifax: Lucky Looks like I won't have to "take action" this time. Just out of interest, does anyone know why Halifax "doesn't" charge under 18's for failed payments, while some other banks do? I guess it might just be at the discretion of the bank, but might there be legal implications too?
  4. Maybe it's because they have the most customers. Or maybe because they're more up front about their charges. Or maybe because they charge the most. You can't just make random deductions from the number of posts on a forum about a bank!
  5. Whoops, I apologize. I thought as I was asking about Scottish law, it would be vaguely relevant and didn't want to start new threads unecessarily.
  6. Just a quick Q. My account was opened/is held in a branch in England, my home address is in England, but I'm studying in Scotland right now. If push came to shove, should I be making the claim in a Scottish or English court? If I'd have to claim against them at the court local to my branch, would travel to there (nearly £100) be considered "reasonable travel expenses"? And, as it's my first post, I've have read the FAQ: 743rjfrrE4
