  2. They definitely do, they have closed mine! They refunded me £700 and then sent me a letter saying that they had withdrawn my overdraft and my account was being shut in 30 days. The overdraft facility was shut without my knowing so there I was merrily spending and the evil letter they sent me says that I am liable for more charges, which of course there will be as they stopped the o/d without my knowledge! So they are deliberately costing me money. Today, I sent a recorded letter to the Chief Exec pointing this out with copies of their most unhelpful correspondence. I have also copied the "Watchdog" programme, anything might help. Today I have frantically been opening new bank accounts and borrowing money to pay up the overdraft. I am furious with Nationwide. Interestingly they said they were shutting my bank accounts, but they are kindly going to leave my savings account open, what a surprise! As if after this treatment I would save any money with them
  3. They've now shut my accounts...
  4. Hello I sent off my two letters. Got a letter back saying "you aren't going to get any fees back". Filled in the moneyclaim.gov.uk form, claiming about £700 for my personal account and was about to do about £400 on my joint account (when they eventually send me the statements for this one). Anyway, looked at my online banking tonight and they have refunded me £196 into my personall account and about £500ish into my joint account, all without telling me. I telephoned Nationwide and the lady had no idea why they had put these into my account but confirmed that they couldn't take it back again (phew!). many thanks to this website for getting me to write off for my cash. However, I have an action outstanding with Nationwide for my personal account (they have refunded £196 of £700 on this one remember). Should I carry on and try to get all the money back or cancel my account and be happy with £700 out of a total fees of about £1100?
  5. I also took out a loan with Nemo for £30,000 which at all times in every telephone call I told them that I wanted for short term use (to finish building our extension) and that it would be paid back in a couple of months. I asked every time if there was an early repayment penalty. They said no. When it was time to pay I got stiffed with a bill for £1519.36. I phoned and complained, they weren't interested. I wrote, no reply. I have now contacted the financial ombudsman. Nemo stink in my opinion.
