  1. Hello After renting for more than six years having sold my house, I put in a claim for housing benefit which was awarded. 3 months later it has been reviewed and the LA want to know details of the house sale. I know about the five year rule for sale and rent of same property - does that apply here as well? Thank you
  2. need a Friday boost, try the British paraorchestra, Kaos signing choir and GB paralympians If the link doesn't work search paraorchestra True colors.
  3. See below links. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/bribribourbonbourbon/citypcnpg1final.jpg http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/bribribourbonbourbon/citypcnpg2.jpg Car was parked with a blue badge on singel yellow which is ok in Islington but this was on Golden Lane. One side of the road is Islington but I didn't realsise that the other side was City of London. The location on PCN is only Golden Lane. Also I think yellow line has a break of about 50cm-1m. hard to tell becasue it goes through motorcycle bay. the map link http://goo.gl/maps/MiSXp. The car was next to the bays at junction of Fann Street. It is in a CPZ. No photo provided by CEO. Suggestions welcome. Thank you
  4. It was residents only. I will appeal on discretionary grounds but was hoping there will be something more substantial.
  5. Morning all Any flaws in the attached photos? I wasn't sure if it should be a 12r code - not that I had a permit. Also shouldn't there be a stated reference to 'the enforcement authority'. Front copy http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/bribribourbonbourbon/pcn%20160208/TowerHamletsFront-Copy.jpg Back copy http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/bribribourbonbourbon/pcn%20160208/TowerHamletsBack-Copy.jpg the car did have a blue badge but TH is one of those london authorities with different rules - but I didn't have my BB book with me to check. Will appeal for discretion as first time error. Any other help appreciated. Road not on streetview so no photos yet. Thank you
  6. Also have a look at the work of the Ombudsman. I was given a £50 apology from Haringey after they failed to cancel a PCN until two days before PATAS so I said £50 was the going rate for penalties from the Ombudsman for such failures.
  7. The council have said they could take up to 50 days to respond to an informal challenge. Is this in itself an impropriety? Will post actual details about PCN if informal response fails.
  8. There is a thread on here and Moneysavingexpert.com about this but I have only just twigged. Since March 2010. I have made calls and texts costing approx £79 (ex VAT I think) to an 07404 number which is used by Lycamobile. Like other people I would have considered it a UK number but in the current T & C (someone on T-mobile website but I can't find it) it is an excluded number. It is therefore not included in call allowance. On my bills it is variously described as International, other network and non-standard mobile. I am going to ask for the money to be refunded as I don't have any notification that T & C were changed. To support my case I will need previous versions and issue dates of T & C. If I do not have a durable T & C does that help me? Is there any other supporting evidence I can request form T-mobile to help me further. I also know that some people have contacted OfCom - is that of any use? Thank you
  9. . That's where I am at. It seems that the person who rented us the space was slack. Your questions are reasonable and the same questions I asked. The answer given was that it will be sorted out later. Now someone else has taken over managing the building and their solution is to begin eviction proceedings on the grounds of non-payment of rent - I believe. Am still waiting for eviction notice. My point is - if we offered to pay rent and asked many times how much but none was requested is that our fault. There may be some verbal terms, but none relate to period of tenancy or rent amounts and anyway I think it will be argued that the person who made arrangements with us didn't have the authority to do so. Bit of a mess - local government eh?
  10. It is a council commercial property. We were invited to take occupation. The person who we believed had management of the building gave us the keys. We kept asking for a lease but never received anything. The council is now doing a review of its buildings. There is no written contract thus no terms to refer to.
  11. My small, company has been reisding in a property for a number of years. The person I believed to be the responsible person gave us the key. On a number of occasion we have asked who do we pay rent to and how much. No reply. Now the overall landlord wants to evict us and will serve one month's notice and is blaming us for not paying the rent. Questions, can they evict us or should they first offer us a chance to regularise the situation - but we can't afford backdated payments. Secondly, is there anything to sya that it should be more than one month's notice. Thirdly, even if we had a lease agreement, ho wmuch notice would they be likely to give i.e. is it worth challenging. Thank you
  12. Why is the standard contravention code 25 allowed to be worded "Parked in a loading place during restricted hours without loading" When someone may be unloading.
  13. Here is a link to newspaper article and blog from Lynne Featherstone MP who is the gov't minister in the Home Office proposing a ban on wheelclamping. http://www.lynnefeatherstone.org/2010/08/wheel-clamping-continued.htm#comments She is requesting comments. I have already referred her to this forum and Pepipoo.com.
  14. Kiptower is absolutely correct. My point from earlier is that this is one of those occasions when the statement from Looplouie earlier, referencing Fake Britain, does not hold. i.e. that the disabled must be in the car when the blue badge is being used.
  15. If the nearest available parking to the day care centre is 100m away. I will have a blue badge on the car because gran is with me. I will escort her to the centre and leave. I will hop and skip back to the car and get in. Anyone seeing will wonder why an agile person like me is getting in to a car with a blue badge but that is the difference between seeing a segment of the picture and the whole context.
  16. Didn't see fake Britain. But on what you have written, seems a shame they didn't consider what happens when supporting a disabled person or indeed the blue badge scheme rules. Actually I am sure that it was to do with trying to simplify it because as you will see at the end, it’s all about the detail of the statutory instrument (or common sense reality). From the blue badge booklet http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_186198.pdf it states that you can use the badge if you are waiting for someone to return to the vehicle so if I drop granny at the day care centre and park in disabled bay outside to pick 'er up, then that is legit. If there is no immediate parking outside then it might mean parking on dyl nearby or in a pay and display bay. If granny cannot make the journey unescorted then you will see able-bodied me park with a blue badge, get out the and the car and stroll up the street to get her. My point in this and previous post is that the badge is not being used for my own use, it is being used to transport the blue badge holder and it is only that there cannot be a disabled bay outside every venue that the badge holder would use and that the badge holder does not drive which leads me to park without the badge holder in the car Anyway, I am pretty sure that these two references from the Statutory instrument bear be out. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2000/20000682.htm#13 http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2000/20000682.htm#14
  17. It's not that straightforward. If I drop the blue badge holder off at the theatre and then go and park, then it is reasonable to use the badge for parking as I might have gone by bus or train if I was on my own or with a fully able bodied person. Perhaps at the end of the night, It isn't possible to get to the pick-up point with the car and so the badge holder will accompany me back to the car. Finally the nearest parking may be some distance away , so I would have to drive off to find it.
  18. you say either, he says both, let's call the whole thing off. The OP has a PCN from the LA, not constabulary. they are threatening to pay it and we haven't seen the PCN for errors.
  19. Have a look at Street view to see how long the sign has been like that
  20. Katygio - Doesn't entirely help you but when I looked a few days ago the second set of signs still showed the no u-turn picture and just the caption "100 yds". Are you able to check and get that? It all helps to show council confusion. Also contact the highways dep't and get written confirmation of the various changes. I have presented an e-mail from TfL in the past to show evidence for me. I forced Haringey to back down before PATAS and then I got a £50 apology from them.
  21. No doubt you have searched the congestion charge website or contacted them. On their Q & A the nearest I found was https://custserv.tfl.gov.uk/icss_csip/GetDetailInformation.do?entityNum=00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000002737&kbname=SDB&src=searchSolution&newTabtext=Congestion%20Charging. which in summary says tough. Unless anyone knows different. It is always worth an appeal on one-off leniency and post up the PCN in case there are some errors.
  22. The sign was changes about 12:30 on Saturday 8th. I saw the guys do it. Ther is a sign on both nearside and off side. Don't know if it was always thus. There are signs further down the road,e.g. no u-turn 100 yards, not sure if they have been changed.
