  4. I wrote my letter to TSB. I actually got a nice letter saying thankyou and we would look into the problem (which I never got from Abbey) so least I knew they'd got the letter. I received a reply on saturday saying they were prepared to refund the charge (£35.00) as they understand it was an oversight on my part - WHERE. They never answered my question why they take direct debits early. I've got the refund but I would really like to know why they do this so going to write back I think and just say thankyou for the refund but you never answered my question.
  5. Hi do not give in to Abbey. They did similar to me last year, took 2 months to get restiction lifted and able me to get money. I'm now with ombudsman as abbey didn't give me a reason or notice they were going to do the restriction. Go through the complaints process then to the Omb as abbey don't seem to give a toss. What happened to me is on one of the other subjects. DON'T GIVE IN!!!!
  6. I'm not sure about them been given the numbers. They really didn't want to know tbh. I've written to them again 2x in one day lol saying that there is no way I'm acepting charges and they can get the idiot who advised me they'd sort it out when I rang back the day after to pay them. I put again about indemnity claim for consequential losses dunno if this applies to this sit though but no harm in trying. I told the 3 rd woman spoke to I was claiming this and she gave me the bull about you can only claim if monies been taken by mistake I told her that was total rubbish and I'd spoken to bacs and apex and they'd told me previously that it was the banks job to claim the money back off the company and not mine, she said that was rubbish and got rather snotty with me, I hung up in the end so wrote to them
  7. Actually got the company involved to email back appologising and refunding the money. Phoned the bank to let them know this and ask what they were going to do about the charges and get told the usual oh the companies responsible. Abit hard to get someone in the blumming USA to cough up isn't it. So its yet another letter to them stating what I was told from Apex and BAcs they must think I've nothing blumming better to do.
  8. Sounds like what they did with me, but did they give you any notice that your account was been restricted? they didn't with me, I went 2 months without been able to take money out.
  9. I noticed last night that some money (£69.95) had been frozen on my account. I rang Abbey and said that this was wrong as I hadn't used my card and was told to ring back in the morning. I have now found out my card has been used to subscribe to something online called ansestry.com??????? I rang Abbey and was told there was nothing they could do and to report it to the police. Whats more I've now today had 3 direct debits bounce (total to Abbey £105.00) and someone outthere is still using my card. They didn't even offer to stop my card so it couldn't be used again. The internet thing has'nt got any contact details apart from email and do you think I will get a answer from that? Forgot too when called last night to lovely India I told the woman that i had DD going today and they would be returned because of this, she said don't worry it will be sorted tomorrow. Today been told they'd be returned. Called Abbey back got someone in this country (woohooo) and shes put in a complaint against the woman as she should'nt have said that. Don't know what to do now
  10. Thanks alot for the advise. Getting blumming sick of them tbh
  11. Sorry yes it is abbey I'm talking about. I talk in riddles sometimes. Going in tomorrow to tell them what I've been told. Do you think I'll have any chance about the charges from last year? The ones from them are in a complaint for the ombudsman I've also let them know in writting my findings, should I leave that to them?
  12. Last year I had problems with a certain internet company setting up direct debits or not stating dates and amounts of debits. ie I was charged. I'd phone up explain and get nowhere and the company refused totally to pay. so who footed the bill, little old me. This is currently part of a complaint to the ombudsman. Yesturday I look at my statement and guess what a company had taken money using a direct debit that was set up on friday as there were insufficient funds it was returned and ie charges. They never told me date or amount or anything. I emailed the company and told them that since they didnt' give me notice then any charges would be they're responsibility. They said it wasn't them as it was a 'verbal' agreement (even though there wasn't one) so I contacted the bank. Same again oh its nothing to do with us its the company who must stand the charges. And in the local branch one assistant even said that she didn't know what the direct debit guarantee was!!!! Getting nowhere I contact BACs who put me through to Apecs. The woman on the phone was great. She told me what was right all along plus more. The company is responsible for the charges but the bank should let me put in an indemnity claim for conceqencial losses (they told me could only claim if the money had been taken) and then they must recover the charges from the company and that was they're responsiblitiy or they weren't sticking to the direct debit rules. She also said that if they still refused to do this then she would phone the bank up herself and speak to them for me. she was great honestly someone who actually told me what my rights were and not ummming and arrring. So I hope this helps those who have paid charges which they can't afford and through no fault of they're own I was appalled at all them charges I have paid in the past just because I couldn't get the bank to help me or to get the companies to pay. This is discusting.
  13. I'm glad to see others (well you know what I mean by glad) have had the same problems. Got really fed up with problems with my other bank so was tbh just going to leave it (how daft am I) but not now.
  14. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem. I started to notice that the bank would apply for direct debits early. E.G. 7th of every month I have insurance due. I had an account with another company and it would go 7th and this is the date applied for by the insurance company. On the 6th January Lloyds applied for the money. I went into the bank and asked about it and was told it would have been either a weekend or bank holiday (so applied for late) I tried to tell them no it had been taken early but got nowhere. I had the same problem on the 9th February for my sky subscription. it is due to go on the 10th but yet Lloyds attempted to take the money on the 9th. As the money wasn't there for the 8th I was charged £35.00. I still get nowhere with why they take the DD's a day earlier than is supposed to be.
  15. Last September I was having great difficulties with Abbey. They'd allowed a certain internet company to take money out of my account and also bounced standing orders when was told don't get charged for them and was charged a total of £196. I have over £250 per week going into the account and as I was at the end of my teather trying to sort all this out. just let them take the money (even though couldn't afford it). I was overdrawn for 1 day before my wage went in. after that I started to receive letters stating things hadn't been paid that would usually go out of the bank. I couldn't take money out of my account or access it to cancel things. This went on until the beginning of November. I had no warning that Abbey was going to do this. I couldn't even get money out to buy my family food or pay bills. This has caused me great problems having bills built up and borrowingoff people due to no funds. The best was that Abbey staff couldn't explain why it had happened and said it was wrong but yet nobody could help. I was told cards and pins were ordered and wouldn't receive them, then received a card no pin and was charged £6 for drawing out when had no choice. I am now waiting to the ombudsman to look into it even though they've had it for now over 3 months I still continue with problems.
