  1. Ho Hum.....on closer inspection it looks like these might simply be a rather convoluted way of breaking down the interest being charged. Panic over I think.........sorry!!
  2. Hope someone can help with this. I have been going back over some old Capital One statements from around 2000-2004 and found some charges etc. which seem to be rather unexplained. They appear as "Finance Charges", and later as "Special Purchase Interest". It is unclear what these relate to and I am tempted to think they may relate to some sort of semi-disguised PPI payment. Am I being paranoid, or has anyone seen anything similar?
  3. To be honest, I have no paperwork for complete verification so I am just happy to be getting anything back as I had written the possibility of getting anything back until recently.
  4. Halifax - £2650 Egg - £170 MBNA - £937 Egg - £3880 HSBC - £1415 Despite my recollections being that I never requested any PPI on any Loans/Cards, a friend of mine suggested a few months back that I simply write to all of my Creditors demanding they repay me the PPI that had been added to my accounts. I had very little by way of any paperwork to corroborate my claims but I simply tailored one of the template letters that are kicking around the web and sent it off to all and sundry. I suggested that my claims were largely related to pushy salesmen/poorly explained details etc. and awaited responses. In general the initial responses were all along the lines of "Very sorry to receive your complaint, please fill in the enclosed Questionnaire to help us with our enquiries". I NEVER filled in these lengthy proformas, and responded that I saw them as just a cynical ploy on the parts of the Banks to put people off pursuing any further, and were designed to trip people up and provide loopholes for the Banks to exploit" I also stated that I would only involve myself in lengthy administration if pushed to pass my claims on to the FOS. As can be seen above, I have had quite a few successes thus far, and the only losses were from Companies that produced proof that I had not had PPI attached to my Loan/Card. I would advise anyone to chase these charlatans, because for the price of a few stamps it can be very satisfying, not to mention lucrative. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!
  5. Thanks again. I am already formulating my response to their letter!! And greatly looking forward to posting it!! Really glad I found this site, there is so much on here that is of value to anyone that has been fleeced by the banks! Keep up the good work!
  6. Thanks for the speedy response ims21. I have some paperwork/statements dating back to April 2011 from CL Finance in relation to this debt. I have had no contact of any sort from Metropolitan since around 2006, about a year after I first commenced my DMP with the CCCS (Step Change). Since the DMP's inception I have forwarded all and any relevant paperwork to the CCCS. I shall be contacting them first thing Monday for their advice but wondered whether this was a standard ploy on the part of HSBC.
  7. My wife took out a loan with HSBC around 10 years ago. This loan had a sizeable PPI fee attached to it. My wife and I have been servicing a DMP for a number of years now, during which time the outstanding debt was handed firstly to Metropolitan Collection Services and then subsequently to CL Finance. She wrote to HSBC recently demanding that the unfair PPI be refunded, and after a bit of correspondence they upheld her complaint and made an offer of payment. The problem is that they have sent her a form to sign which essentially compels her to sign this figure over to Metropolitan to offset the outstanding debt. It is our belief that this amount should only be passed to CL Finance as they have owned this debt for a number of years now. I am also led to believe that Metropolitan are simply HSBC in a thinly disguised form. It would appear that, not content to mis-sell the policy in the first instance, that even when caught out they still attempt to trouser the loot. Hard to believe that a Major Bank could be so devious, ain't it? Anyone had anything similar to contend with?
