  1. On a side note, there was also issues with the ignition (an unusually long start), and fuel gauge not working half the time. So, before collecting the bike I specifically asked for confirmation that those had been fixed, as it was a long journey for me to make. Shortly, I got a call back with the required confimation. Later on, having picked up the bike I found... yeah you've guessed that right. It takes just as long to start as before, while the fuel gauge fails randomly. Hours wasted, money for travel, phone calls, etc... Thanks for tightening my brakes, Metropolis Motorcycles. Not that I asked for it.
  2. Anyway, I've collected my bike. Seeing that there was little wool on that sheep, they did not ask for any money, suddenly changing the tune to that the indicator switch came under the warranty, after all. The wobbly stand could've not been fixed, though, since the required part wasn't on stock (who would've thought - in the largest motorcycle shop in London stocking up on plenty of identical machines). Besides, I wasn't going to leave my bike with them for days for the sake of the stand, I need to use it on almost a daily basis. I'm done with them, since repairs in many garages cost a third/a half of what I'm asked to pay there while the bike is still under warranty. When buying the machine, in my naivety I'd assumed that paying the double price of an almost new second-hand one, for the next two years I was not to be asked for cash should anything go wrong...
  3. Hi. I took my motorbike to the shop (Metropolis Motorcycles, Vauxhall branch, London) where I'd bought it, for repair under warranty. But they say that the stiff right indicator switch and wobbly stand are things that wear down, and so don't come under warranty, wanting me to pay for the parts and labour a sum of £127. As I can't really afford this, they refused to look into other problems, like the vibration from the engine, saying this might be affected by the stand itself... What are my options, any help please? By the sound of my last telephone conversation with them, I figure they've already replaced the indicator switch, assuming I'd pay the steep labour cost (the switch itself costing me about £3, they say). So the man on the phone sounded really disappointed to hear that I couldn't afford to pay the labour. And why would I pay it since the switch has been not great from the very start. And I was warned about buying from them... My first bike... Sigh.
  4. More aggro, just a little moan really. The flat has heating (tap water and radiators) included in the rent price, as there's communal hot water supply to all flats. But I'll be out before the cold strikes, without fully utilising what I've paid for. Oh well...
  5. Apparently, the agency has been instructed by the landlord that he requires possession of the property. I also received the accompanying Housing Act 1988/Section 21(1)(b). Therefore, although it appears I wouldn't certainly die by staying past the specified date, I'd be running the risk of extra court charges, etc. by doing so. In effect, it looks like I'm gonna have to move out timely, whether convenient to me or not. Thank you for help.
  6. So here we go. I received the notice saying the landlord requires my vacating the flat in two month's time, so I will have lived there for only 6 months. I imagine that's how both, the agency/landlord typically go about their business: charge the initial agency fees, sign a 12-month agreement with the break clause possible at any time after 4 months with a 2-month notice, then get a new tenant along with more fees and the increased rent price... All legal and according to the contract, it seems. However, I wonder... Must I leave the property by the stated date? What happens if I don't leave, and stay until I can move to a new place? After all, it will be hard to find a new flat with the move-in date to coincide with the moving out. I think it's only fair that I'm allowed to stay, say a few more days or weeks longer, until my new place is secured. What do you think? Just in case anybody asks, my tenancy has been impeccable, no issues, no rent arrears, etc. Thank you.
