  1. Hi Alison....

Good for you, each to his own I say. I had butterflies when I turned down their £2k offer, and there were times when I thought 'oh why didn't I just accept it!' my husband wasn't much help either - I asked his advice and he said 'it's up to you, whatever you decide i'm happy with' (it was his idea in the first place! MEN!!!!) and so the fight goes on....

  2. Hi guys,

ok, thanks for that. Since my last post I've read more recent ones (especially yours zootscoot! it was brilliant!), so I'm going to write to them one last time and extend my deadline by 7 days (I know; I'm soft), but I feel my previous letters were more bank related. So maybe they'll respond to that. Will keep you posted.

  3. Hi all,

I've just read a thread where 'nightmareforbanks' has discussed a formulae for working out the amount to reclaim, apparently we may not be the whole amount, so I will hold fire on this while I gather the original terms & conditions and ask him to calculate it for me (terrible with figures).

I wonder if this is why I haven't heard from Preferred - my moneyclaim would have been due this Friday

  4. Hi all,

Received 2k offer letter from HSBC (thought it was quite generous!) which overlapped with my LBA letter. Acceptance/Refusal letter sent with a sweetener taking off interest - didn't really want to spend £120 on filing claim. Filed MCOL today.

Mogglewomp, you'll be fine, read the 'frequently asked questions' and take things step by step. but initially dig out, or request your statements for the previous 6 years - if you have an online account you'll find them there. Then highlight all the charges and interest they've debited from your account and transfer those amounts on the excel spreadsheet.

  5. Hi peeps,

We have two accounts, both closed. they've offered us approx 1/2 for each claim. We're not likely to see the money as one has an outstanding overdraft, the other they want to put towards our personal loan.

I don't mind this happening, but if they put it towards our outstanding debt and loan they may as well put the whole lot we asked for!

So I will write putting this to them and see what happens; otherwise we shall keep fighting for the full amount. At least they can't say we haven't entered into a dialogue with them.

I'm a bit averse to ringing these people as I don't want to feel intimidated, and prefer to keep it all in writing.

    What do others think?

  6. Oohh dear,

They cashed my cheque today! fee for the DPA request. Didn't expect that.. Barclays didn't and I know HSBC don't either.

Tightwads.... Haven't got time to read through any recent threads, so don't know if this is par for the course with them.

    Just keeping you all updated.

  7. Hi guys,

Weezypoos, Your claim seems to have been settled quite quickly! Hope mine completes as quick as that! Will look at your threads later.

I don't know if any of you've noticed, but having looked around some of the other banks links and speaking with my colleagues; HSBC seem to have really high charges

  8. Hi guys,

Just keeping my thread updated. Standard letter blah.. blah.. blah... received from Barclays re. my prelim. letters. Their deadline is two weeks after mine; will be sticking with mine!

Does anybody think it's worth replying to these?

  9. Hi Vampiress,

I'm confused. when I sent off my schedule of charges I included the 'interest' figures that were on the statements that were debited from my account; regardless of whether it was overdraft or charge, as I see it as an unlawful fee and part of the above. Was that correct?

  10. Hi Carriehayes,

My statements came in two separate envelopes - luckily they arrived together! So it may be on its way. I personally wouldn't estimate as I like to deal in cold hard facts!

    Good luck.

  11. Hi guys,

Sent prelim let asking for £5,300 back which was their redemption figure for repaying our mortgage early.

The reason we sold in the first place was to clear debt and mortgage arrears, which I explained to them, they said they'd reduced the penalty by 1% I did try to negotiate more, but they refused. So I thought right; i'll get you later!!!

Think I may have boobed though - I forgot £5k is the max. Oh well, if they make me an offer - I'll just accept £5k on second thoughts, does that make the claim invalid? should I send another letter asking for less? or wait for a response? oh heck!:-|
