  1. I have had the same problem I sent off my iPhone 4 in a bubble wrap envelope as I didn't trust the flimsy envelope they sent me I waited 5 days and heard nothing so yesterday I emailed them requesting an update then at 10pm last night we got an email and first of all it came up headed Fraud [problem] with this company - further down the email said due to cosmetic damage they would only offer me £109 not £137 I had 5 days to accept or reject if I reject it would cost me £8.95 my husband then read all these nightmare stories. So at 9.03am after waiting 12 minutes and ready for an argument the bloke answered the phone I told him I am rejecting their offer I am not paying £8.95 and I am coming in person to collect my phone back he said okay. I got to their offices in Bounds Green and found their offices and after 5 minutes wait I am now back in possession of my phone - if anyone lives in London area go and collect in person - hope all ends well like mine. - Elaine Jones

  5. Hi, Go with the CCCS I have been with them for two years now and in two months will be debt free they do not charge you they go through everything with you and they stop anyone contacting you and deal with your debtors direct get in touch with them do not go to the DMP advertised on the television they charge you the CCCS work with you Elaine
  6. I have had dealings with mini credit and so many times they threatened doorstep collectors but they never ever send one I got a loan of £300 and it has risen to £1224 because they would not listen to my offer of payments they are allowed to go so high before they sell the debt on mine has now gone to McKenzie Hall who are arranging a payment plan for me they even offered to clear the debt by reducing it to £425 but I couldn't afford it so am having to pay off the full amount. They are also very rude on the phone but I did not take any nonsense from them you have to be as arrogant with them as they are with you as they think they are dealing with thick people all the time. Anyway I would not worry they will never send one and also they have to listen to the CCCS they cannot by law ignore them good luck
  7. Hi I only meant the £10 a week at worse obviously the courts take into account your circumstances and yes you are right £1 a week but 9 times out of 10 the courts do not agree with payday loan companies
  8. Can I just reply to the last part of the above message please do not go to Wonga they are just as bad if not worse if you fail to pay them they will add charges until your account is well up to £1,000 only then will they pass you onto their collection agents they have passed me onto two and both of the collections agents are sick of wonga and passed me back to them fortunately I am on a debt management plan with the CCCS and they have to accept what they are being paid by them so please do not go to Wonga
  9. Hi, I took out a loan with Everyday in 2008 for £2,500 I am now under a debt management plan with the CCCS who are government funded and don't charge. When I tried to get a balance from Everyday recently it seems that two and a half years down the line I still owe them £2,500 after failing to get a response from them for statements etc I have put them in the hands of the Financial Ombudsman who up until two days ago even they have failed to get any response from Everyday right up until yesterday which was the second deadline they had been given. The Financial Ombudsman themselves are not impressed with this company and I am now hopeful they will side with us and demand all my charges back that I should have been charged in the first place. Also once this is sorted we are going for any PPI they have charged. So as long as you are employed I would go to the CCCS and let them sort them out you don't have to be in contact with them as they do that and they will tell them how much a month they will be paid and there is nothing they can do about it. Good luck
  10. Yes it was there is nothing they can do they are not allowed to send doorstep agents its against the law they just threaten this to make people scared ring them and tell them to take you to court they wont and even if they do it will stop any charges and also the most they will get from you is £10 a week courts do not like these sort of people - keep a recored of every conversation you have with them and copies of any correspondence between you so if you go to court you can produce it but you wont cos they will not want to go to court.
  11. Hi I have a loan with these people they are awful no customer service at all my rollover payment was due of which you get four dates and I couldn't afford it until end of month so asked if i could pay it then I got told that if I left it til end of month the £200 loan I got would be £465 (fortunately I paid the £77) no way was it going to go to that amount. But I would say to those who are worrying if you get behind and can't pay the worst that can happen with any of these sort of people is that they pass your debt on after letting to increase to an amount they are only allowed to go they will then pass it on to another debt collector who will send threatening letters then they will get fed up and so on but these people cannot turn up on your doorstep they are not allowed they will not take you to court because courts do not like these people and if worse came to worse and they did you would only end up having to pay £10 a week there is nothing these loan people can do bailiffs will only turn up on your door if you don't pay council tax or fines and after six years there is nothing they can do as the debt is written off of your credit file. So basically if you can put up with letters coming then just ignore them or put yourself in the hands of the CCCS who will deal with them on a debt management plan there is nothing they can do then this is what I have done - Good luck everyone
  12. Would just like to say that these debt collectors never take you to court unless it is a very large amount like a couple of grand as they know the courts don't like them and you will end up paying them a tenner a month so what they do is after a while they sell it on to another debt collector. if you have large debts or lots of different creditors as long as you are earning go to the CCCS they are the best around and they take all the worry away from you I know I am with them they are a registered body and there are no upfront fees they just set you up with a plan and you pay them an agreed amount a month and they pay your creditors
  13. Hi, I had the same problem when i went overdrawn they cancelled all my dd and so without any notice but i have had the last laugh at hsbc my problem was i got myself into a lot of debt without my husband knowing and went for a whole year of hiding letters and throughout all this i had a managed loan with hsbc and when you have a managed loan you are not allowed an overdraft or to go overdrawn otherwise the managed loan gets cancelled but each time i went overdrawn when speaking to hsbc (in India, Phillipines, everywhere except UK) each time they added an overdraft to my account and charges to cover my monies i had gone over the top on this happened four times in the course of a year when my hubby finally found out the state i was in although it nearly cost me my marriage we got through it and I am now on a debt management plan with the cccs but we got onto the financial ombudsman re the unfair charges and interest on the basis that they had encouraged me to go further overdrawn and only last week the ombudsman found in our favour and hsbc have got to refund me £1757 off of my account and they have three weeks to do this otherwise we have to go back to the ombudsman. The biggest trouble with hsbc is they are so big you never get the same person twice and they have so many departments you never know where you are and the literature they send out they do not live up to "WE ARE HERE TO LISTEN" what a load of crap
  14. Hi I had a wonga loan which started at 300 and ended up over a grand because i couldn't pay and couldn't roll over and despite telling them (i wrote they never answered i emailed never got any response) and phoning you got no chance of getting anyone who is not rude or arrogant. You really need to stop the rut now with them as they will continue to charge it only stopped at a £1,000 with me before they sent it to collections because they are not allowed by law to charge any more interest now i am on a CCCS plan with my other creditors and paying wonga off slowly but please try and ask a relative or friend or even your bank to assist as they will be cheaper than Wonga i cannot understand how they are even being allowed to advertise their apr is a joke - do hope you get it sorted
  15. Hi I quite agree with above - sorry i didn't read the comments properly for CCCS you do need to be earning. But these loan people pray on people when they send threatening letters and for people who don't understand it can be frightening but there is nothing they can do courts half the time do not go in their favour as they don't approve of them and the reason they won't take you to court is cos they know they will get much much less payment than they want. Also loans like for instance wonga are only allowed to charge so much and then they sell it on but when they sell it on the charges and interest have to cease by law. But although this may not help this person i wold recommend cccs to anyone i get regular statements and also internet access to my account to change and up date details
  16. Hi, I just found this site - I am having trouble with Chantry but they are about to get their cumuppance - I originally took out a £300 loan with Speedloans in 2008 i then got myself in debt and am now with the CCCS and will be debt free by end of next year. I owed £25000. I contacted all my creditors recently to update my balances for the CCCS and when i contacted Chantry they told me i owed £835 now as far as i am concerned my debt is down to £139 i asked them to send me a statement of my payments (which I have still not received) and a copy of my agreement. We have found that when Speedloan sell onto Chantry all my interest and charges should have stopped - they are really horrible people to speak to no customer relations there hate to think what training they get anyway we are going one of two ways with them depending on advice from the cccs i am tempted to put their balance as nil and let them take me to court where they will get less payment or as with the help of cccs challenge them on the charges then take them to court they will not go they all threaten but they know the courts will never go in their favour - they are bullies but always remember they can't do anything tell them to take you to court they won't and even if they did you won't have to pay them anything like they want. But for anyone in debt please go to the CCCS (Credit Counselling Services) they are fantastic and don't charge you they sort everything out and deal with your creditors direct.
  17. Give the CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) they are excellent they are a charity organisation they do not charge and they take over all the payments for you you just pay them once a month i had debts of £26000 and was getting all sorts of doorstep threats county court threats you name it they sent me templates to type up and send to my creditors I pay them each month and they pay my credits it was originally gonna take me about 15yrs to clear but with the CCCS i will be clear by the end of next year they are brilliant these other debt management people want to charge you for the privilege of using them don't go with them
