Does anyone have any recommendations for car hire for a trip to Toronto, Canada? On this occasion I cannot book car hire with my flight. My only previous experience hiring in North America was in Orlando in the 80's when after a long flight with a young family I was well and truly fleeced by Alamo. I've checked out all the comparison sites recommended by Moneysavingexpert.com and also got online quotes directly from all the major car hire websites (Avis, Hertz, etc etc). In every case the small print is mind boggling.... when will these companies stop dreaming up additional insurance and other charges? I'm thinking I should probably take out CDW/SLI & Excess cover with a UK insurer but this still leaves the question of which hire company? They all seem to have bad reviews. I also get the impression that the "cheap" deals can be false economy.. I'm particularly interested in any members' experiences when picking up a hire car at Toronto airport.

You might want to consider switching from npower to ebico as I did recently. Unlike all the other suppliers, ebico have a conscience and charge the same rate whatever the method of payment, so even a prepaid meter wouldn't cost you more. I wish I had switched a long time ago... on my last npower bill of 528, I would have saved nearly 100 had I been with ebico. I know this won't solve the immediate cash problem you are now facing, and it takes a few weeks to effect a switch, but you might feel better for getting rid of npower for the future!

Just had my "automatic renewal" notice from Homeserve (premium up nearly 50% over last year, despite no claims!) - found this forum on a quick web search, and am very glad I did! I've not had to make any claims so far, but reading this thread gives me a clear idea of what would happen if a claim became necessary! To all the previous posters on here, thank-you. I will certainly not be renewing with Homeserve.
