  2. Hi All I tried Sharons approach and sent 2 letters 1 for myself and 1 for my husband. I sent them 2 weeks ago and today got the replys. My reply said they are investingating the complaint and my husbands was totally different it said when he opened his account in October 2004 he agreed to the terms and conditions. However they were willing to offer him a payment of £160 as a good will gesture. Looks like they hav'nt got a clue what they are doing. LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL BE GETTING THE DPA LETTER AND I HAVE WASTED 2 WEEKS OF MY TIME.
  3. Hi The letter I sent was the DPA letter. I sent it on the 10th June. I sent the letter ( Alan's Letter From Derby ) afew days ago. Dont really fancy talking to them so I will send another letter telling them they have 7 days to comply to the DPA. Wait and see what response I get. Thanks.....
  4. Hi All I received my printed statement's today and it only goes to April 2005 then at the end of it, it says END OF ACCOUNT. I am confused as I have had the account for over 10 years. I started with just a normal cash card account then a cheque book account now I have a Visa Debit Account. Do they class these as different claims / accounts although it has still been the same account number and everything or are they just trying to BLAG me. HELP??.........:o
  5. Hi Can Anyone Advice I have received 14 month of statements. I then received a printed version for 4 month transactions, at the end of the statement it said account end, which is April 2005. I have had my account with Abbey for over 10 years. Is this because I had a check book account previously??......Although it was the same account number and everything. Do the bank class it as a different account. None of my details changed or account details. Do I have to make a seperate claim for when I had a cheque book account or are the Bank just trying to Blag me. HELP!!!!!!!!..........
  6. Hi Sharon Thanks for your quick reply, Which address did you write to. I will type my letter tonight and fingers crossed. Thanks
  7. Hi Devereaux, The same fob off story I see, I have sent them a prompt today recored delivery. Its one that someone else has sent and afew other people. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...-argument.html I have sent this today need to keep them on their toes. I think after the 40 days is when you report them. Good Luck - Looks like theres afew of us at the same stage with Abbey.
  8. Did they really just refund you charges, I am looking to claim my back around £800. Did they cancel your card. Did you state that they were not comply with the DPA or was it just a basic can I have my charges back. Please reply and good for you.
  9. Martin's right if we all inform each other of their tactics we can be one step ahead of them. When I think of the times I have been to the bank and they have taken all my money out and I have had to wait for them to refund it back. e.g £145 for a DD and kept it 2 days, then charged me because the DD was for £146.50 and still not paid DD. Even though you dont have enough in the account they will take what ever is in there hold it for afew days so you cant get at it and then refund it into your acount, informing you it has'nt been paid but hey don't despair we are charging you £35 for not paying it because you were £1.50p short. Bleep Bleep Bleep. No more Abbey National. And another thing they do, I have my Child Benefit paid in monthly, and I cant remeber the last time I had any of it, because my Bank charges always always come out on the day my Child Benefit goes in. I have 3 children so get around £150 a month I dont get it Shabby Abbey gets it. Has anyone else noticed this?. Sorry For Ranting - But we have had to do without food sometimes because of there tactics. I will be defineately making a donation to this site if, sorry WHEN i succeed.
  10. Hi Candles. Yes I got my letters all individual envelopes. I sent (Alans) letter today registered post, reminding them that they only had 17 days left to comply with the Data Protection Act. Good to feel I dont have to go this alone (if you know what I mean). My husband just smiles at me and gives me a pat on the head when I'm on the Forum. He thinks I am wasting my time and is amused at the fact we mere mortals are daring to take on the FAT CATS of this world. He will soon be on my case asking me to help him claim around £4,000 back from a closed account from the YORKSHIRE BANK. I will keep you informed. Thanks to everyone for there help.
  11. Hi Candles47. I am in the exact situation as you, I received 12 months worth of statements same as you yesterday, and the crappy letter about microfiche the same. I have read Martins reply, and to will be sending the same letter (Alans) tomorrow recorded delivery. I have had £940 charges in 12 month. I will follow your thread if its OK, As we are both in the early stages with Abbey and I'm not quite sure what comes next. . Good Luck and keep posting as I may need some guidence.
  12. Hi cillitbanger Thanks for your reply, I only got 14 statements because they have said that my information is archived onto microfiche which is not covered by the DPA. However they can supply details of the transactions held on microfiche on payment of £10 (which I did send with the origanal letter). Do I wait know for the 40 days to be up to see if i receive the rest of the statements?..If I dont receive them which letter do I send next. If I do receive them which letter do I send. I'm a little confused. Good Luck - laineyhappy. Thanks - Good Luck to All Of Us Living in RIP OFF BRITAIN -
  13. Hi All, I am a little unsure as to what I am doing I have read the Forum for 2 weeks and may (will) need some guidence, I have sent mu DPA & £10 to Abbey and they have replied sending me 14 bank statements, In the 14 statemants I have paid £970 bank charges. I estimate over 6 years I have paid around £5,000. They say something about keeping records BLA BLA BLA. However I am at a bit of a loss what to do next. I can only estimate the Bank Charges as they have only given me 14 statements. Do I send them a letter claiming £5,000.? Which letter do I send next?. HELP - I would be greatfull of any help. Oh - My husband closed his account with Yorkshire Bank 15 months ago because of Bank Charges. Can he claim them back. Hard Working mum of 3, A little nervous but determine to go all the way. Thanks - Good Luck to All Of Us Living in RIP OFF BRITAIN -
