Getting ready to start 2nd part. Thanks for everyones help so far....Will donate when I get my parachute credited.Vee
  2. Thanks Guinness - wondered why no-ne had written to me! If I have no claim number , just a receipt, wondered will the court still be able to give me the info?Just getting a bit impatient:confused: ,hopefully in time for the halloween holidays then!
  3. BUMP Hiya well I lodged a claim at Belfast Laganside courthouse. Forms sent back to me to sign because being served in Swindon. Posted all that back recorded delivery again 28 sept - not recieved till 5 oct. (Query with Royal Mail but thats another story) Why have I not heared a dickie bird???Its now 14 Oct. Any opinions please post! Hope I`ve done this right...
  4. Hi - yes I think I read a thread here a while ago about someone taking Nationwide to court for this!Have a search around and see if you can find it.
  5. HIya Barry - (Any word ?)
  6. Hi - just another note - By the time the organisation refer you to a dca, then they process their stuff and send you a letter (or in my case several:-),This process can take weeks ...my advice - you`ll get it sorted before they actually do anything anyway - I mean even if the account wasnt in dispute it takes them ages! So you`ve got it both ways.
  7. haha Thats him showing his backside made you say that!Keep your drawers up gary!
  8. Hiya , I`ve just noticed from our partnership business tax return when checking the figures that our UlsterBank business account charged us (hubby and I) around £3k charges for the tax year 05-06.This is so unjustified, especially as we WERE(closed and sold now-and no wonder paying these fees!) finding our feet in a new small business. We we opened 2 years and the first years banking was meant to be free but charges did get incurred and I just kept asking for a refund at the time and getting it. However, these charges seemed to be incurred within the last 6 months of trading! (shame on us for trying) Anyway, will go to the attic and suss out the details when I dig out the statements then a nice 1st letter will be on its way. I`m assuming it doesnt matter the fact that we have an IVA that involves them? After all the charges were disportionate and unfair! Let me know what you think...
  9. Hiya - had to look and see if anything happened yet or not.I think the fact you have the letter is whats important but there maybe just really inundated with refunds! Its bound to be with you soon.vee
  10. I`m not in your shoes so I can honestly see that you dont have to worry but Isnt life so bloody cruel. It will be in within the next few hours - if in my case if you are with on-line banking. I usually see whats happened about 4.20am arent I sad... really gotta get a life...Please tell me you get it by Monday morning, go shopping and telll me what it was like to spend your claim - I`m at the stage of waiting on aknowlegement and cant wait now I `m on a roll - the first of many (God spare me). Sorry for the outburst but this is really awful
  11. Hiya - Go to the templates library and study the threads that are posted - its the only way to learn especially when Dolly was advising! I would send the Nationwide a letter explaining the whole situation and that if they dont comply or discuss this in an acceptable manner for the request for charges and close the account that you will have no other choice but to take action.See how that goes and if you have no joy then send them a letter before action.I dont understand why they wont close your account. Maybe you should ask a moderator what they think! The only way that I see it is to follow the guidelines and timescales given only adapt them to suit you. Hope this helps.Vee
  12. Yeah Good things come to those who wait:D As long as I get mine in time for Christmas shopping in I`ll be happy. In fact it`ll be the first time in the life of my kids that I`ll have cash not credit at Christmas...might have a wee holiday as well!
  13. I think you should get on the phone to this guy or e-mail him. It looks like theyre in the wrong but thats a standard letter you got cos I got one a few months ago after being refunded some charges to my account. You definately need to contact a person , cos all they`ll give you otherwise is an automated response. Tell them that you will take it further if they dont.Vee
  14. Hiya Dave - Good to hear that your going ahead:) I can tell you that Co-operative Bank let me open a basic account with an electron debit card with absolutley no fuss and I have an appalling credit history at the minute - sorting that out but thats another story! Before trying them I had tried Halifax. It seems for people with a bad credit history that Nationwide basic account and Co-operative basic account are 2 of the top ones and I spent a lot of time searching the web.
  15. The schedule of charges that is on the spreadsheet has te 8% column to make it easier when the time comes to include them for your claim. I filled the schedule in with 8% and saved it, then deleted the 8% and saved it.That way you have the copy you need for now and a copy saved for printing at court stage. Not being computer minded but wanting to be organised , this worked for me!
  16. Hiya and welome! - I`ll advise you what I was always told, which is to stick to the time scales - it shows that you gave them sufficient time to reconsider!(as if) and also allows time for postage etc.Vee
  17. Its entirely up to you wether you want to claim the charges back or not , but when doing so you do need to read through the site for hours and days for a complete picture of the whole process. I havent heared yet of anyone wanting to go back to their bank after an account has been closed! So I dont know what the situation is there though I do know you can take them to court if you want, if they do close your account - most people dont bother because theyre just glad to get their money back. I also have a lot of DD`s etc with Nationwide but if I get my £2k back I`ll have money to cover the transitional period with my new account at Co-operative Bank. Most banks offer good online and offline banking facilities. You need to depersonalise and be a bit more shrewd if youre going to go ahead with your claim! Vee
  18. Hiya and wecome. Just a wee word of warning - make sure you have a `parachute` account just in case!
  19. Hiya - yes thats right - I didnt bother with the conractual interest - for instance a lot of people dont think its worth the hassle. When you send your schedule of charges asking for a refund (before court stage), send your copy of the spreadsheet without the 8% on it. If and when you go to put your court claim in, then you submit your application to the court with the schedule of charges plus 8% interest (worked out for you on the spreadsheet also). Hope this helps - vee
  20. Hiya - well you can do it before the 14 days is up but its advisable to show to the courts (should you have to) that you gave them plenty of time through the timescales to reconsider. Thats what I was told and I could see the logic in it. I`m also frustrated waiting on my money- I have it spent in my head already:rolleyes: Vee.
  21. Hiya - yes this is the usual response. Just ignore the letter - everybody gets one! I`m just slightly ahead of you and have put my claim in. Still give them the 14 days from you sent your LBA then proceed with your claim. Vee
  22. Cheers Guinness - What a shopping spree I will have!!! I want to make this Christmas a gudn,Am counting the days
