  1. Yes. Contrary to what seems popular belief, the IPCC don't automatically become involved in complaints!
  2. You won't get a gross misconduct charge as you put it. It will be dealt with by way of local resolution.
  3. It might not have been the defence and counterclaim pack...it could be a solicitor's letter stating intent to claim. Many OPs read CCJ and panic, hence the request for further info.
  4. Every time I wake up, I have the potential to inadvertently kill someone. Does it mean I will?
  5. If I've understood it correctly, a CCJ has been mentioned but court papers haven't been rec'd. The third party's insurer will have traced the OP's insurer via index and Hastings are making the threats? OP, we need to take this one step at a time. Can you confirm what post you have received thus far please.
  6. Usually, o'25s are insured with policyholders permission but not always. OP, was your friend over 25? Was he/she a valid licence holder?
  7. I'm afraid that the responsibility rests with you for a) allowing your friend to drive uninsured b) you are the owner. You are probably lucky that this is only a civil claim because you could have been prosecuted for use/cause/permit the uninsured to drive. The particulars of claim are standard for a road traffic accident. It is as it says, your friend was negligent in his/her control of the car. It sounds like your insurer is going to settle the claim with the third party but will look to you to re-imburse them which is no doubt a term written in the policy. Your best bet is to negotiate favourable payment terms with your insurer. If you haven't got the money, it will have to be in small amounts weekly/monthly. Who is your insurer (some are more reasonable than others).
  8. It's better that you don't delay the claim. That's the type of thing that causes suspicion.
