  1. Is there an email address or telephone number to contact at BBC News in order that accurate information can be provided to the public?
  2. No wonder the courts are regarded with such ridicule. A court hearing does not start until 10.30am and is usually over by 4pm and earlier on a Friday. Oh and there is always at least an hour for lunch - hardly a system that is unable to cope with the workload. The legal system regards August as being too hot and dusty for work so many courts close until September. The judge in Tom Brennan's case could well take until the Autumn before he gets round to forming a judgment. These people are paid by the taxpayer and quite frankly are having a laugh at our expense - all that individuls can do is complain about poor standards of service to their MP but of course they are even worse....
  3. It is not widely reported but the Financial Ombudsman Service has proven to be an effective alternative to the courts for me. I claimed £2340 from Alliance & Leicester: the bank refused to pay a penny so I complained to the Financial Ombudsman. It took one form and no costs were incurred. Within 6 weeks Alliance & Leicester had offered to settle in full. It is also a nice feeling to know that they had to pay an admin fee to the Financial Ombudsman of £350.00.
  4. It is great to see so many individuals winning against the greedy banks. The thing is though the banks will not really get hit unless many, many more people start to claim. My guess is that the majority of customers will not bother or be too intimidated to begin the whole process. It would be great if CAG began a class action! That would force the banks into repaying all the money that they have no right to have taken. The Swiss banks in the 1990s lost a class action and had to repay many millions to relatives of Holacaust victims after shamefully using delaying tactics for years. It can be done!
  5. I would make a complaint to the police and confirm that charges are to be pressed. If the police do nothing, go ahead with a private prosecution against NCP.
  6. Car theft is an offence and should be punished in accordance with the criminal law.
  7. Did you report the theft and unauthorised destruction of your car to the police?
  8. Claim for the value of the car, all subsequent hire charges, statutory interest (8% p.a.), phone calls, taxi fares.
  9. Tom Brennan may be onto something with his point on exemplary damages. Does anybody know how to contact Mr Brennan?
  10. When I book a return ticket with RyanAir online an additional cost of £7.00 appears although I do not want to put any luggage in the hold of the aeroplane. Is it me not following the web site instructions properly or am I being ripped off by RyanAir for a service that is not required?
  11. To save money I always use the MBNA freephone telephone number 0800 062 062. It takes time to get through to a human being but MBNA are paying!
  12. I now hand to a member of staff at Lloyds TSB every letter in connection with my claim for unfair charges to be refunded. I get a receipt and save postage.
