  1. as soon as I get my bank charges back, I will donating to the site. Just got a weird letter from LLoydsTSB about my claim but that is for another thread...
  2. Cher-ching!!! They paid up. I won't say for how much but I am satisfied. Many thanks to all who contributed. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Power to the people!
  3. Another response from NCP Please advise... Dear Mr ***** Thank you, for your correspondence received on the 9th May 2007. Having considered your case I feel it is best for us to revalue your vehicle via our insurance service. Having spoken to our insurance service they have advised with a copy of the V5 and the MOT certificate they will be able to revalue the vehicle via qualified engineers You have also advised that you have an independent quote from Club Audi uk, if you can send this through to us this may assist also. If you can send these documents to me via email, (scanned documents,) or in the post to DVLA / NCP Compound Crabtree Manor Way North Belvedere Kent DA17 6LJ I will then forward them immediately to our insurers. Hopefully we will find a true value for your vehicle and can close this matter therafter Yours Sincerely Jamie Barnes NCP/DVLA Area Manager London

  5. The following is the letter I am sending to them. Wording OK?? RE: Impounding of Vehicle K*** ***, an Audi, 2.8i Quattro V6 Dear Mr Barnes Thank you for your response dated 19 April 2007 which I received via email. It is a great relief to at last seek some closure on this matter and I thank you for admitting responsibility for the loss of my vehicle. Your offer of compensation is greatly received, however, the amount in which you have offered is highly insufficient. Please understand how much this car meant to me and for how much sentimental value the car has with me. Your figure of £380 is what I would regard as a scrap value for my car and not a true valuation. To obtain a true valuation for a car as old as mine, you cannot obtain one from a standard pricing guide. The best way in which to value a car like mine is through an Audi club such as Club-Audi, UK. They have written to me and given me a collectors valuation which is for £1500. This I would deem a much truer price for my car. When you consider the length of time in which I have remained in “limbo” awaiting an outcome of your investigations, the amount of emails I have composed to NCP Car Parks and the DVLA, the number of phone calls to try and ascertain an outcome and the investigating that I had to carry out through land lords, land registry fees, letters to the Metropolitan Police Force and several other agencies such as Greenwich Borough Council. I feel that I am justified in seeking compensation for more than just the value of the vehicle which was, as you have acknowledged in your letter, in immaculate condition. I am therefore seeking compensation to the sum of £2000. This matter should not take too much more time to resolve so I am therefore giving you 14 days to compensate me or I will be seeking further legal council in taking NCP to court. Regards ********
  6. this site is amazing. If you can't get excited and feel empowered by the energy of you all, I guess you must be in a coma. You guys/ gals are truly amazing. I'm doing the whole bank charge thing as well now. Update. I have made contact with 3 Audi clubs. I am seeking as many valuations as I can. I have tried to find a replacement vehicle, since Decemeber I have only found one car like my one for sale and that was in Germany! I tried to report my car stolen originally and some snotty desk officer stated that I couldn't as my car had been destroyed. I wrote to the Chief Constable, he investigated but I never obtained a crime number. I am cautious of going down this Audiless road though as trying to prove a criminal law suit against a government body, I imagine, would be very hard and costly. Does anyone out there know of anyone else that may have been through this experience before?
  7. cheers for the heads up. I will try and establish a value and send this to them. No doubt they will negotiate what ever I say so I might just come up with a silly figure and see how far I can push them out of court. Legally, aren't they guilty of theft and criminal damage? :?
  8. can I not be compensated for things such as emotional trauma, sentimental value etc etc?:?
  9. I have just received this letter by email. Personally I am insulted. This has taken since December 2006 to resolve. Lots of letters, emails and phone calls. Loads of stress and let us not forget that this car is incredibly rare. You simply can't buy this car in this country and I have been searching to get a price comparison since Dec 06. My car is a a very beautiful and rare machine. RIP x Here's the letter... Re Impounding of Vehicle K*** ***, an Audi, 2.8i Quattro V6 Dear Mr Tony Clare In reply to your letter we have fully investigated the clamping impounding and subsequent destruction of vehicle K*** *** Our enforcement team spotted vehicle registration K*** *** on Battery Road SE28 , they obtained authorisation to clamp and impound the vehicle. You have stated and provided evidence that the vehicle was parked in a Private car Park allocated having examined the photographs taken of the vehicle when clamped it appears that the vehicle was parked on Private land. We will reimburse you for the value of the vehicle; we have valued this vehicle at £380 which has been obtained using a price guide based on the vehicle condition. which was immaculate If you wish to dispute this valuation please contact us with your valuation, we will then pass this to our insurers who examine this further. Can you please confirm the payee name and address you require the cheque to be sent too. As we have spoken before regarding this complaint and your are completely dissatisfied with the process of the compliant I add the address of my manager to address a formal complaint with regard to this. Mr Geoff Topliss National Contract Manger DVLA NCP Services 21 Bryanston Street London W1H 7AB I apologise for taking so long to resolve this issue Yours Sincerely Jamie Barnes Area Manager London DVLA
  10. :? NCP car parks removed my car and destroyed even though it has a valid SORN and was parked in a designated bay on private property. DVLA have just about admitted responsibility and liability. How much compensation should I settle for?:?
  11. Firstly, allow me to apologise about my current username. I was today the victim of some banter as I registered. Right, one of the reasons I'm here...I am here, as with most others here, to reclaim what LloydsTSB have stolen from me over the last 17 years since I have banked with them. Also, I am here because recently, I have had a run in with the DVLA and NCP Car Parks. My car, a very rare collectable, was parked in a privately owned plot of land within an allotted bay. My car had a valid S.O.R.N My car was removed by NCP car parks wheel clamping division of the DVLA. I was fined for using/ keeping my vehicle on public highway etc etc. Since Jan 07, I have been in constant correspondance with them and they have practically admitted responsibilty for their error. I have a feeling that their insurance company will only offer me the market value of my car. Here lies the question: Am I entitled to compensation relating to the inconvenience, emotional stress, the fact that you cannot buy a replacement vehicle as they are so rare etc etc Please advise........
