  1. Does this set the precedent we have all feared???
  2. Second Request - Sorry. BUT is there anyone that can help me? We had an Access Credit Card issued by Natwest Bank up until approx 1995 when we finally paid off the balance and cut the blimmin' thing up!! We held the card for about 3 years and ran up loads of penalty charges for late payment etc. The thing is we don't even know the account number despite the fact that we kept the final statement showing a NIL balance for some years - we can't find it now! Should I send a full S.A.R. with £10 cheque and if the answer is Yes then where to please?
  3. Hi Mrs W. Just to let you know I successfully claimed over £1700 just before Xmas last year (thru this wonderful site). Since then I have successfully been refunded 2 more amounts @ £28 each for "service charges" - (yeah right!) Each time I wrote to my local branch manager and stated that as a previously successful claimant I wouldn't hesitate to take action again right upto Court proceedings if necessary. Each time the amount was credited back to my account! Fight the good fight and remember the money is yours NOT theirs they are taking it unlawfully. Good luck By the way does anyone know if there is a current thread on here dealing with old credit cards? We had an Access Credit Card with Natwest which we paid off in approx 1995 before that we had excessive charges for late payment and I would like to start a claim to try to get some back. Any help anyone could give me would be very much appreciated. O-B
  4. Better late than never I suppose. We had an Access Credit Card which is now defunct. Can anyone tell me how I go about obtaining details/address so I can kick-off a claim for unlawful charges (loads!) against this card please? I might add that we were successful in claiming back over £1700 in unlawful bank charges going back the six year statutory limit from NatWest at the back end of last year. through this brilliant site.
  5. Forgot to say that the only statement we kept was the one with a nil balance! But then probably shredded it after a couple of years.
  6. We successfully claimed (through this brilliant site) unlawful charges back from NatWest going back the 6 years. Does anyone know how we can begin a claim against the old Access Credit Card? They took shed loads off us but we paid them off in approx 1995 and never had a credit card since.
  7. This site is mentioned in the article in The Daily Mail today.
  8. They never learn!! Latest statement debits another £28 "charges" - yes I went overdrawn - by £3.15. Will wizz off another 'refund or else letter' await the credit and then CLOSE THIS BLOODY ACCOUNT. Oh how I hate NATWEST.
  9. REFUNDED - £28 S/C Having heard nothing from NatWest regarding the refund as above to date - lo and behold a statement received today with a CREDIT of £28. No ifs or buts or letters from them rejecting my request because they feel their charges are fair etc blah blah. Listed as Refund of S/C (service charge) Hurrah 3 cheers for this wonderful site, which, incidentally, I promoted whilst in live chat on a Bingo Online site the other evening.
  10. Click on Site Map at top of this page. It is under the heading Bank Action Group. Returned Charges Survey.
  11. It seems a lot doesn't it? My Court costs were £220, but don't worry as you will get it all back. Ollie-Bollie
  12. CONGRATULATIONS & WELL DONE!! Ollie-Bollie ;-)
  13. It's certainly going to be a better Christmas this year! Yes as soon as the chq cleared we despatched Cobbett's copy of NoD and also the Courts - don't expect to have an acknowledgment but you never know. ;-) If I don't get the £28 credited back I will start the process all over again They will never win............
  14. Thank you Claudiaamber. Since the cheque cleared there has been no sign of NatWest clawing any money back thank goodness. By the way I wrote yesterday to ask that a further charge of £28 (added in July) be credited back to our account after our recent successful claim against them for the return of unlawful charges. Am awaiting their comments.
  15. :-) WELL DONE YOU! CONGRATULATIONS It's a great feeling isn't it? I have two friends now willing to make a start on their journey (with this site's help) one was downloading copy statements at work yesterday and the printer nearly blew up!! lol - however her total was just short of £4000 so she's really excited. Still encouraging more people to do so. O-B
  16. :) CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE MICHELLE! Ollie-Bollie x
  17. Why thank you Richard, that is very much appreciated.
  18. DONATION MADE Cheque cleared today! So donation made to this wonderful site. Once again I thank everyone who helped and advised us along the way. O-B xxxxx
  19. Thank you for the correction Westy - ;-)
  20. Have today received letter from Cobbetts - "Further to your letter 1 November we can confirm that our client will not pursue the condition of confidentiality. We look forward to receiving the completed Notice of Discontinuance in due course" Total capitulation as far as I am concerned anyone reading this thread please do not be intimidated. If you follow the steps patiently and accurately on this website - you cannot go wrong and your unlawfully deducted charges will be returned to you.
  21. Well they offered me £900 against a total claim of £1711.86 and I said I would accept it ONLY as a first instalment with no conditions attached whatsoever! and would persue them for the rest. They coughed up! You DO NOT have to agree or sign up to anything you don't want to and the Banks know this but just keep trying it on. The thing is they know people are becoming more and more savvy re claiming back unlawful penalty charges through sites such as this one but are still trying to scare people off with jargon and legalese. Of course it is up to you whether you chose to accept their offer and conditions of settlement. My advice and it is only advice, which you may wish to take or ignore, I have no legal training whatsoever, is to thank them for their offer, accept it as part settlement ONLY of your total claim of **** I reminded them that this total increases with interest on a daily basis. It is true that the OFT did make an announcement re charges for credit card fees and stated a figure of £12 was fair. But with regard to bank a/c charges they have yet to make an announcement - it is due though soon. Please do not be scared just look at all the people like me who have got every penny back WITHOUT CONDITIONS attached. Personally, I think you are not too far away now. Good luck.
  22. C-o-n-g-r-a-t-u-l-a-t-i-o-n-s And Well Done On A Successful Claim!
  23. Sue, don't worry - I was just like you (and hundreds of others) worrying whether my case would be the first one that actually goes to court. The Banks ARE shelling out thousands of extra £'s in solicitors fees. They do this, in my opinion, in the hope of scaring people off claiming - however far down the line they are. Have you read the case histories of successful claims (including mine) they mostly tell the same story re scare tactics etc. Keep to your timetable just as this site advises and hey presto very soon the only thing to worry about will be what to spend your refunded money on. ;-)
  24. CONGRATULATIONS!! - ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL CLAIMANT. WELL DONE TO YOU - WE HAVE JUST BEEN SUCCESSFUL TOO - IT'S A WONDERFUL FEELING ISN'T IT?
