  1. AA house insurance were the broker for Zurich but I guess there will be a different finance company they use if so where would I get that info from?
  2. We have just switched house insurance from AA to another company ending our current contract with them on the 24th August. Wife called them on the 22nd to let them know we wont be going back with them and stopped the DD. However we got a letter on the 27th August to say a DD had been missed for £12.01 which they tried to collect on the 23rd and a further £12 missed payment charge. My wife said it's probably a cross over from the insurance thinking we were going with them on the 24th she said if she gets another letter she'll call them. the letter goes on to say (This letter is notice under section 86E and relates to a default notice this does not take into account of default sums which we have already told you about in another default sum notice, whether or not those sums remain unpaid) However today we did get another letter from AA saying they had issued a default notice for £24.01. The letter goes on to say if a payment is not made by 20/09/19 they will recover the amount of £23.68 from her debit card which she has authorised them to use to collect overdue amounts. Checking my wifes bank today she did in fact miss a £12.01 payment which was the last one to AA on the 23rd, She did think the last payment had come out in July so fair enough we can pay that. But it's just gone 2 weeks today can they issue a default that quick looking at the first letter on the 27th they appear to be saying they already issued a default notice before the 27th August letter. even the payment amounts don't add up. She is going to call them tomorrow or day after to sort it as it will be paid but not happy with the default notice after just 2 weeks.
  3. From one of the letters Cabot sent me they are the owners of the Zopa loans debt for 11k left owing so I will CCA them The natwest account appears to be owned by Cabot but is managed by westcot so do I CCA Cabot? Intrum have the tesco debt and bought it from them in 2018 so will CCA them I will setup payment plans for the others. Is it just a letter for a CCA request or is there a small payment needed as well?
  4. Just an update to this thread. Likely Loans have taken my offer of £5 a month payment for 6 months to be reviewed in 6 months time. Argos have refused an offer of £5 a month instead they want me to fill out a financial assessment form so that they can then discuss what payments to make? Very/Littlewoods have so far not responded to the letter I sent which was the same date as Argos however I do have account details to setup payments for a standing order so should I do this or wait for a response back first? Westcot have now taken on the debt for HBOS from link financial (which says working on behalf of HBOS) Westcot have also taken a debt on for £2,407 it doesn't say what its for just that they are working on behalf of Cabot ( i assume its the Natwest debt) Intrum have taken on the Tesco Debt and Cabot have taken on the 11k Zopa loans debt Other than likely loans responding to me and me setting up a payment to them I haven't done anything with the other debts yet (other than writing to argos and Very/littlewoods, likey loans) I'm off work Wednesday so want to clear everything up so I know where I am I'm confused between who a DCA is and who the others are and who I should ignore and who I shouldn't? and should I do a CCA request if they work on behalf of? Cabot Intrum Westcot PRA group (they just call they haven't sent any letters out yet) Ok I just found out that Cabot bought westcot in 2017.
  5. Hi, Yes in the letter template from the site here I offered a £5 a month SO payment and asked for them to send their details so a payment plan could be setup until such a time as my situation improves. However the emails and text they send keep directing me onto their website where I can either pay by card or setup another DD with them. The DD is done through their own webform by me giving them my bank details to setup a DD there isn't an option with their details to setup a SO which is why I asked them to pass them onto me so I could set a plan up. they appear to have ignored the letter but keep sending me emails saying they can help me if in diffi culty etc and to give them a call
  6. Well reading the what is said a client that act on their behalf. a bit like what you said with Wetcloths to just ignore them? What do I do at the moment with likely not responding to my first letter should I shoot off a 2nd one to them stating they haven't responded to the first one yet?
  7. Right guys, I sent a letter off to Likley Loans dated 16 July regarding circumstancies following the templates on here and adding my bits with an offer of £5 per month. They have so far ignored the letter, still call, text and send emails. This is the most recent email they sent me last week. "Our records show that your Likely Loans account remains in arrears. Please get in touch with us in the next 7 days to discuss your account. If we do not hear from you we will send your account to Themis Recoveries who will commence debt recovery activity on our behalf" What should I do at this point? write to them again or wait for TR to write to me on their behalf and deal with them?
  8. So just ignore any letters and phones calls that might come from them and deal with the next ones they happen to pass the debt onto? Are cabot a bit like wescot just acting on behalf of a company?
  9. So those that have seen my older posts as the letters come in I will write them up here. Stepchange closed my account on Tuesday and wrote to all parties I was paying my DMP to, My first letter came today x2 from Westcot. One is for "Working on behalf of HSBC" The other is "working on behalf of Cabot Financial Europe LTD" What should I do at this stage?
  10. Just a small update on this, I sent my letter off to likely loans last week and haven't heard anything back yet.

    Argos debt

As per the request I have setup a seperate thread for this. So I have now missed my first payment, I will be sending a letter to Argos tomorrow as per the templates on this site to set up a min payment of £5 per month via SO Credit limit £750 inc interest charges and late payments total debt to them is currently £873 As in reply to you DX In another thread I said my debit card was stored on the Argos website I can't remove this card only add new card details. However in order to make payments every month I had to put in my 3 digit CVC number which Argos don't have it's not a regular recurring payment setup. The question being can Argos still charge that card to try and force a payment and if so I will probably have to cancel my card with the bank and get a new one?
  12. I'm just wondering Argos as an example have my card details stored on their site for payment, However there is no option to remove the card details. Can they charge my card without my CVC number? or will I need to cancel my debit card and order a new one?
  13. Is there a reason as to not pay by debit card via their online payment methods? However I'm wondering why a bank transfer payment wouldn't a SO be better?
  14. I've stopped payments on 2 of the current creditors Argos and Likley Loans and in the process of writing to them today with offers of £5 per month. payments were due start of this month so I haven't paid anything yet. Likley are like hot cakes calling me, emailing and texting about 9 times a day asking for payment. Do I make any payments e.g the £5 yet or wait for them to get back to me regarding that payment? I'm not sure about argos but likely either offer DD payments or to pay online via debit card. I've asked for standing order forms in the letter getting sent out.
  15. When doing a CCA request these debts are post 2007 I read today that laws changed for pre and post 2007 on CCA requests would requesting for them being post 2007 make a difference still?
  16. Ok after reading back the whole thread and looking around the forum think I am starting to understand. ok so Likely loans/very/littlewoods/argos will be recent debt so I will be offering payments to them The others I will be asking them for the original ownership of the debt with a CCA request. I'll post back with an update once I've caught up with all these and take it from there once I hear back from them Thanks again
  17. Guys I've now stopped payments on 2 of them likely loans being one of them who have already contacted me soon as DD was cancelled. Should I contact them by email regarding my status or is it best to do everything in writing and post it? I'm going to offer payments of £5 a month and was wondering should I do this right away or wait a while till they pass it onto a DCA? If they reject the offer do I still make payment via options on their site debit card or not make any payments at all because they are rejecting it? I'm new to doing this on my own so looking for a starting point.
  18. I need to ask something, My debit card is registered with Argos/very/littlwoods. Should I cancel my debit card and request a new one I'm not sure if they can still charge against my debit card without my permission?
  19. Thank you guys this has really been helpfull I've just gone onto my stepchange account ready to close it down with them and noticed they have DCA's down for payments that are different to my credit report which my credit report is upto date this month. PRA for example are now the owners of 2 debts according to my credit file yet stepchange have westcote down for one of them. Halifax CC debt has gone from westcot to Link Financial outsourcing yet until I got a statement today/looked at my credit report the other week I thought stepchange were upto date clearly they aren't so I'm not even sure at the moment who actually has some of these debts. They'll know doubt write to me will these companies once stepchange stop paying them and I will setup a payment plan with them as they write to me. Thanks again guys it's eased the stress a bit. Wife has a job interview today so I'm hoping we'll know more later on once they call her
  20. Thanks for helping out guys it's really appreciated. I will be stopping my DD with stepchange next month after they have taken payment and will probably default on the remaining creditors I haven't with already by the start of August. Stepchange will write to them and let them know I have stopped using them. Do I wait for them to contact me first and then shoot off recorded letters stating I am now taking control of the DMP myself and ask for a budget sheet to be sent to me or I can provide one and ask for Standing order forms? They were paying £30 to the biggest debt at 10k and the other 5 were getting £5+ a month =£61 However as I said Very/Littlewoods/Argos and Likley loans will be my next ones to default on. I can roughly afford £70 a month from September so I could split the payments up over the 10 creditors of £7 each until my wife finds a job. Total debt will be around £29k or if the ones I defualt on took there interest off it would be £23,900 I will try and ask them to do this. Should I ever speak to them on the phone? or should I just do everything in writing (recorded) PRA group are already buying up a lot of the debts and started ringing my home phone a couple of times a day. I've blocked them at the moment. I appreciate all the help
  21. It was suggested on another forum I post on that it could have been the DPF filter as you say. It was suggested that the wife took it out onto the motorway and spent about 15-20 mins doing about 50mph low gears high revs to clear it, however it brokedown as she got round the corner from our house. Recovery came out and checked it out and said it was the EGR valve that was stuck open and needed replacing or cleaned. managed to get it towed to a garage who fitted a new one. they also said the fuel filter was a total write off as well one of the worst they had even seen apparently so replaced that. They've kept the car overnight and told us it's running but they want to take it for a ride out and do about 15 miles to make sure it's all running ok and will let the wife know later if it's running ok and she can collect it then. It hasn't really been looked after, it had a regular service for about 4 years then they didn't do one for about 6 years, it then had 2 last year but it didn't say what kind they had only that in one of them the oil filter was changed. So it seems we are picking the tab up on lack of care for this one. The recovery guy said was it a bit jittery when you went to buy the car and we said yes but the dealer said it was normal for diesel cars and it did seem to run ok. He clearly new it was on it;s way out and just took advantage of our lack of understanding of cars.
  22. Hi, Zas90 How much has it cost to start the ball rolling might be going down this route myself?
  23. Bumping this thread as the car has developed a new fault. So the wife came to pick me up from work tonight, taking into account the car is now 2 months old and only done 1000 miles since we had it. She said it was feeling sluggish in first and second gear however she set off and it seemed fine, got around 1/2 a mile down the road and black smoke started coming out of the Exhaust and it did this sporadic for about 2 miles up the road before clearing. We drove the car about another 2 miles and picked up some food for my daughter who ate it in the car sat parked...after around 30 mins we set off home no smoke came from the Exhaust but the car was slowly struggling to pick up speed 1st/2nd gear but was ok in 3rd...got about 2 miles down the road and the engine management light came on. Car starts up ok...We paid £1600 for the car, 95k miles and put on about 1000 since we had it and now this problem. This is just a joke now it's a diesel car where do I legally stand it's only 2 months old since we got it and first it was the ABS sensor now this. We don't have the money to buy a new car and I feel ripped off by the seller if its a huge job we don't have the money which means no car and wife has no job anymore.
  24. I'm with Stepchange but leaving them to do a DMP on my own with the creditors. I've found SC not very good and kept pushing to go bankrupt and they are very pushy. I've also added more debt onto myself since being with them which will only fuel the fire with them so figured it might be easier to go alone with it. These other accounts Very/Littlewoods/Argos and Likley I haven't defaulted just yet I've got enough to make 1-2 more payments to them all and thats it. This way I've told the wife once I default on the other companies I have credit with I wont be able to get anymore credit for a long time which is kind of a relief because I've learnt a huge lesson from all of this and I don't ever plan on getting like this again. Once we have sorted out our financies, I'm setting up a savings account to fall back on if we need anything.
