  2. You know I was wondering if I was the only one who picked up on that!!!!!! I couldn't help but laugh as it made me feel like I was watching a Dave Allen clip
  3. Our nearest airport is an hour and a half away from the hospital (so it says on the letter). Go figure lol.
  4. Drastic diets do give fast results, but also tend to have fast results when you come off them too, you tend to pile the weight back on and more. Lifestyle changes that can be kept up with are the best thing and you're more likely to see long lasting results. However, everyone is different, and that needs to be take into account. I'd never advise anybody to take fat burners. Not unless you know their full medical history. It isn't just the heart that they can affect, and for certain conditions they can be very dangerous. From personal experience I know how weight can affect joints as I have a joint/connective tissue disorder, and only need to put a little on to feel the difference it makes. You are right about muscle burning fat but that and stating that surgery is a last resort is about all I agree with Elliebes (no offence intended). I'm pretty sure Monx is aware that it's serious and a last resort and is looking for support in making a difficult decision. Most people who come to this decision do so not lightly, as it does carry significant risk. It's not for the many but for some it is the right answer. Whatever you decide Monx just make sure that you have the support system there to help you through your lifestyle changes and difficulties ahead. Make sure you get the appropriate medical advice, and make the decision for you. However you loose weight, you will find coping with your joints and excercise much easier. Not harder. So do not worry about that. You won't be left to 'never exercise again'. But I'm pretty sure I didn't need to tell you that last bit :-P Good luck chuck in whatever you decide. x
  5. This made me giggle. Will be forwarding it to my dad, will be requesting he reads it with his pillow ready (he's had heart surgery)
  6. lo. you don't do your updates anymore BB. Happy afterbloomers all. Or strings
  7. You know I was actualy. Put in a heated box I was. oooh look, I'm in front again. Morning peeps
  8. I don't know anybody in this country who is very bothered. I may watch it on TV if the weather is bad and I have nothing else to do. We'll see. My folks live in the states and there is so much fuss over it over there. It's always on the news, people are getting really excited apparently, and on a recent trip to the Dominican every Canadian and American we met were asking if we were looking forward to it and practicaly cooing. They looked very shocked when we said no, not really bothered and some looked rather taken aback lol. The other english people we met there were experiencing the same.
  9. Awwwwwww. We want an Eclectus. prob a Solomon Island sub species. Probably male, but wouldn't be put off if they had female chicks. have wanted one for about 2 years (I think). Have done my reasearch, even found a breeder we like (bit of a drive but worth it). What species is yours? Does sound like a case of jealousy, or just random fun. Eckies tend to have random mad moments when they attack their toys for a few minutes and then go back to normal playing. Especially when young and in their 'teens'.
  10. I'm never that difficult. Never. They did say that if they were trying to get blood they would have been ok, but as they were injecting dye they needed a stronger vein. They said they couldn't get the vein but that didn't stop them sticking needles in! One paw seriously swolen (still). After this and having 2 in my gum at the dentists on Sat (don't ask *sigh*) I've made a record with needles that I never ever, ever want to come close to again! *shudders*. I think I've had double my entire life's worth today! It just goes to show how desperate I am for them to find the cause of the problems. Even the special guy they got said he'd never seen anything like it. Thank goodness I hardly ever bruise (seriously, it's a godsend, I'm one accident prone pup, soft on the inside but tough skin on the outside. I'd be shipped off the the RSPCA if I bruised like normal pups). Hope you get 'em told Nystagmite x.
  11. You know Dotty, I stood there waiting but no plane *mock sobb*. I should sue. It did make me giggle .
  12. Went for CT scan today, was only in the machine 5 mins, but I spent an hour before being a puppy pin cushion as they couldn't find a vein They got their special guy in who hasn't missed a patient yet, and he gave up . I begged and begged him to try again, which was hard, as I HATE needles, but have been waiting for over 15 years for this being looked into properly, so wanted it done properly to give best chance of them sollving the problem and after several more 'last attempts' he finaly struck vein!!! Yay!!! Was a bleeder though. So now have lots of holes everywhere and swollen paws (they even tried there too but no avail). Hope peeps out and about don't think i'm a druggie, and hope they don't bruise. I'm heading for my chocolate now
  13. looking at a letter for an appointment to my local hospital. There is a map attached with directions also for public transport, for which they provide two options. The first is by train. The second is by................ I kid you not. Not bus. Nothing for bus. Plane. Er, I don't think the hospital is that good
  14. I know. It's 3 now as one had to be put to sleep after one of the races. I like races, I've been to them, but this one to me needs to be made safe!!! Some might say it's because of the jumps that it is such a nationaly treasured race, because of the difficulty. I don't understand how animals dying year after year is something to be treasured. But that's just me. It seems so backwards when animal rights is something most people are educated about in this day and age. The nation went mad (and rightly so) when that loony put a cat in the bin. Where are they all now when 3 beautiful animals have lost their lives? Not turning a blind eye and counting their winnings I hope
