  1. Meant to add it might be that in the next couple of days you get a letter from Nationwide offering you a settlement, you might not. Some people have, some haven't. By acknowledging it, it means that they have got it and have at least glanced at it so it is in their system and will have to be dealt with.
  2. Mine has been acknowledged today too. Now they get 28 days from the date it was considered served (which will be on your letter, mine was the 20th and I filed on the same day as you). That means they have 28 days in which to either pay you off or say they will defend the claim and go to court. All it basically does is buy them time to decide what to do. They could come back 1 minute before the 28 day deadline and decide to defend the claim, thus allowing them more time. Don't get angry about it, it is just the process. The ball is in their court.
  3. Just a question on this. My sister applied for a loan with Lloyds TSB through her online banking. It was accepted and she had to just re-input her password and the loan was in her account instantly. Now she has never had to sign any paperwork for this. As the CCA request states: "2. A signed true copy of the deed of assignment ...." how would this stand? Just curious... Thanks!

    Nationwide

How weird after you said on my thread that you hadn't had anything done to your account. Looks like it is common ground now.
  5. They only did mine after about 3pm today so you never know. Mind you, I checked it about 50 times a day!!
  6. Claim acknowledged this afternoon. Game On.
  7. Yes, enjoy reading through them (highlighter pen at the ready!), get them on the spreadsheet and send the preliminary letter. It has never felt so good looking for those charges, I can tell you that! It's exciting when you find another!!

Hi and welcome If you have all the statements then there is no need for you to do a DPA request - you can jump that step and just use the Preliminary Letter that is here: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=671 Hope that helps
  9. I am in a bit of a similar situation with old accounts in that I have moved. I sent mine with my current address at the top and in the body of the letter put something like: "Please note my previous address until 2004 was xxxxxxxx ... " and underlined and bold-ed it. If it will work, I don't know as I have had none back yet!!
  10. My moneyclaim was issued on the 15th, heard absolutely zilch since. Oh well, hurry up 4th July when their 14 days are up (although I have no doubt that they will have acknowledged it by then!) Keep us up to date with yours
  11. I would send it to the same person. I did that and then they escalated it to the area office...still got nowhere mind you!
  12. I've done a DPA request for mine too - I *think* I only have 4 but as we settled the mortgage 2 years ago I have nothing to lose by asking. Still no response to my DPA, sent 8th June. Will be following this
  13. So presumably then, if the debt is unenforceable, you cannot go after unfair charges otherwise you would be admitting that you do actually own the debt, regardless of whether they can find the paperwork or not? Or am I so completely wrong?!!
  14. Contact ACAS before you do anything - they will be able to advice you. http://www.acas.co.uk/ Hope that helps.
  15. That is exactly my point. For every one of ME (who is claiming charges back) there are probably hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people like my husband or my mum who won't - simply because they are either too scared (believing it won't work) or can't be bothered. So although this site survey suggests banks have paid out over £750k to people in refunded charges, it is pennies to what they are charging customers day in day out. So endeth my rant and congratulations
  16. You'll probably find they have until the 4th July, like mine. I filed on the same day as you and they said, in the acknowledgement, it was deemedserved on the 20th with 4th July being when they have to reply by. I will keep an eye on this as we are both exactly the same
  17. Not paranoid at all about opening another account, just sensible Hope it goes well, keep us updated.

  19. The DPA request should be fine. Good luck and keep us updated.
  20. I think that a lot of us feel exactly the same with all these institutions. Keep us posted - you'll be fine
  21. Just wanted to say what a fantastic thread this is...am reading with interest about CCJ's being set aside. All I can say is that I have learnt so much on this board, I wish I knew 4 years ago what I know now and I can't thank you all enough.
  22. Postal order will be fine I would ensure it is crossed, if I were you. Good luck
