  1. I have been paying Barclays for at least 8 years on a county court judgement. I never hear anything from them. I tried to call today to find out what the situation is, as it can't be too far from being paid off. I tried several 0845 numbers, before eventually getting through to someone who took all my details, but would not discuss anything as they did not have security questions! She said I must go into a branch with a passport or suchlike. To be honest, I'm furious. They are happy to take my money for years but refuse to discuss it with me. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions as to what I can do? I don't want to go to a branch as it's very inconvenient & they'll probably tell me they can't help anyway!
  2. Well, statute barred letter was sent. Received 2 letters today, 1 dated 11/04/12 saying that they had closed the acount & sent it back to their clients (Equidebt) & another dated 12/04/12 offering a 50% discount for a full & final settlement! DCAs really are the pits aren't they. Anyhoo, everything will be ignored now, until some bottom feeder comes along in a few months! At least I can get rid easily. Thanks to everyone who's helped.
  3. What about the situation where a default has previously been issued & the creditor is paying via a DMP. Is the last payment date the SB date or the 1st missed payment e.g. 1 monther after the final payment?
  4. Hi again. Received the paperwork back & to my surprise it is a copy of my original agreement, complete with signature etc. I just have a question regarding statute barred now. I have determined via CCCS, that they last made any payments on 17/03/06. I believed that this would be the start date for SB so it now would be. I've now read on other threads, that the SB starts from the date that the first missed payment was due. Could anyone clarify which it is please, as I would like to get the SB letter sent off asap. Thanks again
  5. Thanks dx, this is actually the first time a discount has been offered, so as you say, having received the CCA request, they've probably dug a little deeper & seen that they have no proper paperwork & the debt is almost SB, so are trying to get anything they can. I will send the in dispute letter just to be safe & give me more ammo for when MuckHall or some other bottom feeder comes sliming along in a few months time.
  6. Idiots! Received 2 letters today, 1 saying I have failed to make a payment arrangement, but that their client (Equidebt) has extended my deadline. (How kind of them). Letter 2 offers to reduce the debt to about 35% of the original sum. I have a better offer for them, send me the CCA! Anyhoo dispute letter goes on Monday. I'll send one to Weightmans & a copy to Equidebt. I assume that's correct?
  7. Yep, prety much what I was thinking. Thanks for the help all, I may be back with the CCA if they ever send one!
  8. Last payment date. Ties in with what I found out from cccs.
  9. Yes DX, confirms SB in March. What could they want though? I sent the CCA request, they haven't replied. They could reply by letter & I'm not getting involved in calls with them.
  10. Hi again. Time is nearly up for the CCA request now & no letter, but I had an answerphone message from Weightmans today asking me to call. I'm minded to ignore them as I fire off the dispute letter next week anyway. Sound right?
  11. Thanks, will do And just a final one, I will definitely NOT be restarting the clock on this becoming statute barred?
  12. Can anyone confirm who I make the postal order payable to? I'm sending the request to Weightmans, but they are collectiong on behalf of Equidebt. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the replies. Would they still be able to go do a CCJ even with a CCA request outstanding?
  14. Any particular reason dx? My credit rating doesn't bother me, as I have gradually paid most of my debts & have no intention of going down that road again. This seems to be a debt that nobody picked up or chased & I thought those dark days were all behind me. If there's a good reason to sign up, I'll do it.
  15. Dunno dx. TBH I don't trust them & would be wary of any info I might have to give. As I now know it's not SB i would suspect it is. The last payment was made under a CCCA debt management plan in 2006 & Equidebt have been sniffing for about a year.
  16. Hi all. Equidebt have been sending letters & making calls off & on for a debt. Originally it wasn't that specific, so I ignored & answered all calls with "in writing only". They now claim they have made a financial link & have passed it to Weightmans to further harrass me. Weightmans have now sent the letter threatening court action or bankruptcy, along with a financial declaration form (as if! lol), as I have ignored them, so I suppose it's time to take action. It's a bit of a pain as if it's the debt I'm thinking of, it becomes SB in March next year anyway - I actually thought for a while that it already was. I've prepared a CCA request & made sure that I have added the "I acknowledge no debt to you..etc" prominently. Are they likely to be able to provide this as it was an RBS credit card originally issud in the late 90s? Anyway does this seem the right thing to do? Any help appreciated.
  17. It does happem a lot, you'd be surprised how many "suspiciously high" gas readings in particular come in for checking at price rise times. The vast majority don't overdo it but a few try to suggest they've used more gas in 2 months in the summer, than they used in the past 2 years! I don't blame them & very few are ever challenged.
  18. Actually got through to a human today & it looks like I might have been worrying for nothing. The guy I spoke to said that the website will often try to charge you the whole new price, but that they gave a few hours grace anyway for delays & the like, which only seems fair I suppose. thanks for the help.
  19. Thanks for the replies. I thought about cancelling & rebooking, but the cost is £7.50 & then the price for booking again is now £45.00, it was initially £20.00, which is why I booked early. It's at Manchester Jetparks3, which as far as I can tell is owned by the airport. Looking at the rules, it says they charge any overstays direct to your debit card.
  20. Hi there. We've recently had the time of the returm flight changed by the travel company by 2 hours. I'd already booked the parking, allowing a reasonable time to get back. I know, in hindsight I should have allowed many more hours, but It's not a mistake I'll make again. I only just thought about the parking, & when I tried to change the booking. I was quoted an extra £25.00 for the 2 hours. We don't go into a different day. Anybody have any thoughts on what's likely to happen if I just leave things as they are? Will they deny us exit from the park & charge?
  21. It shouldn't be a problem Clio. They will make a claim to BG for all of the payments & add them to your account. I presume they have sent you a new key so that your payments will now be correctly dealt with. Fortunately there are far fewer problems these days than there used to be, especially now that almost all token meters have gone.
  22. Possibly Ladys, although the threshold for when you're better off on E7 is quite low. I think its about 28% night usage, but don't quote me! If you're below that though, I can't see they'd have a leg to stand on. I know that some areas only fit E7 prepayment meters & they have to be recalibrated via the key, so that they are still 2 rate, but both rates charge the single rate price. The old Seeboard area off the top of my head but not sure.
  23. Did they use the readings you provided to open the account? Usually on a change of supplier, the previous company provide the readings & any change from them has to be reagreed. Also, you say you weren't billed for 3 months, but that is the normal period of time indeed many are now on 6 monthly bills.
