  1. Purchased a Sofa from Sofa Workshop 3 year ago & took out a Guardsman policy at an extra cost of £165.00 to cover any stains rips that may happen, covered for 5 years. My grandson threw a cup of juice across the couch over 2 months ago & I contacted Guardsman.Guardsman representitive on the phone said she would send me a spray to treat the stains & I had informed her that the couch was nubuck before she sent out the spray."Yes, just use the spray " & if it didn't work, there would be a form to fill in to send off to Guarsman for someone to come inspect the couch. Had to fil in the form as the spray made the stains worse & the rep from Guardsman that they sent out said, they should never have sent out a spray for a nubuck couch & the couch was now ruined & all cushions needing replaced.Unfortunately, the colour of the nubuck is no longer available so they could not replace the cushions & they said it was not cost effective so they were sending the claim to the underwriters for a final decision.Decision came back with an offer of £2,840 to choose another couch or £1,400 cash. I loved my couch so opted for a replacement, only to be told at Sofa workshop ther couch has now gone up in price.I contacted Guarsman who said that was the offer, but they had infact deducted £44.00 from the offer which was infact £2,884 the deduction being for having to send someone out to inspect the couch when infact it was through no fault of my own that they had to as they should never have sent out a spray. Also, they said that as I have made a claim my Guadrsman policy won't continue for the other 2 years that are left on the policy.Went to sofa workshop to choose another couch & the closest I can get to match the existing one is an extra £600.00 or thereabouts, which includes a payment of £277.00 to bolt the couch in 2 like the 1 I claimed on as my hall is very narrow. Can someone please advise me on my rights here as come the end of the day I am not happy about having to fork out nearly £600.00 to replace my couch when I had an insurance policy anyway & was Guardsmans fault at the end of the day for completely ruining my couch. Regards & thanks in advance.
  2. Vents are on the side of the laptop, & so are not blocked.Heat is generating from directly underneath the mousepad & YES,if you read my post, you will see that I wrote I bought the laptop, & the thread states PC world & they did sell it to me.Excuse my lack of knowledge, but who is soga & the fan has been replaced but still the same fault.I'm quite pc literate just not clued up on my rights !
  3. Bought an HP laptop in September last year, went in to knowhow for repair 10 days ago as seriously over heating to the point that the laptop would burn your leg from underneath leaving a mark like a burn from a hot water bottle.Received this laptop back this morning & exactly the samr problem.Phone knowhow & they said they will just have to take it back in for yet another repair.Explained that I am going on holiday & need to take laptop with me, but they say that they will not issue me with a new one, & that my rights for replacement expire 3 weeks after the laptop was bought if anything goes wrong. Please, what are my rights with this faulty laptop ? Many thanks in advance
  4. I spoke to the manager of the Birmingham store yesterday and they are going to collect the sofa tomorrow and I will recieve a refund...great news but got to wait 14 - 21 days to get it.
  5. I had Graham and the store manager Gary from the camp hill shop out on Thursday and they said that I had two options, 1. to have them stitched at the shop or 2. they would order me two new coushions. I had phoned up consumer direct before them coming out on thursday and I was advised that I was within my rights to reject the sofa as it was faulty and I was entitled to a full refund, repair or exchange. I told them that I wanted to reject it and as I bought it online I have to deal with the people who take orders online and not my local store so I am now waiting to hear back what the responce is going to be and should hear tomorrow (monday) I shall update then and let you know how it goes with them and what the outcome is, I just hope I get my money back so I can go elsewhere to buy something of a better quality.
  6. Ordered a new suite ( 3 seater sofa, Footstool & chair ) from DFS online & it was delivered from DFS Birmingham to her home 3 weeks ago.Now noticed that the stitching on 3 of the cushions has not been finished off with the stitching properly & a hole is appearing on 1 of the cushions & stitching coming away on the other 2.On phoning DFS Birmingham store this morning, they have said that they will send someone round to have a look next week & fix it on site ! I'm not to sure about this being done, as it appears that the cushions were faulty to start with & they are certainly not just going to hand stiitch the cushions on site .Please help, this suite cost over a thousand pounds & I'm at a loss what my rights are.
  7. 2 pairs of very expensive Laura Ashley curtains dry cleaned at Euroclean.Apart from being delivered back to me at a date later than promised,on hanging them back up I have noticed that the linings are showing beneath the curtain, obviously shrunk, & that there is no thickness to the curtains as there was & that the colour has faded to a lighter shade than they were. What can I do, please help ?
  8. That's great news Mediaseller,I wish you all the best.I have a lot of experience with ADHD,my son was diagnosed with this when he was 7 & now at an age of 22, he still has it.It's a minefield out there with information on ADHD & when my son was referred a couple of years back as an adult, turns out that he is on the autistic spectrum showing signs of aspergers, but still has ADHD. Regards
  9. Well, I hope at the end of the day I will say positive things about Sofa Workshop.I ordered a Caruso sofa in leather in November last year, & have had to chase it all up myself, & I still don't have my sofa.I was informed today, that they will deliver next week, but as it's a courier service they can't tell me till next week when it will be delivered next week, till next week !! Was all paid for too according to the Edinburgh store who took my payments, yet I was asked for another £58.00 on the phone today.I said that they had not taken into account the vat reduction, but was told, they actually only received £400.00 of my order & the rest went to the administrators ! I guess in many ways I'm lucky to be getting my sofa at all, & was also informed that had I cancelled, I would have lost all my payment. Roll on next week.
  10. Ask to be referred to a psychologist. The most prevalent symptoms of ADHD are inattention and distractibility and/or hyperactive and impulsive behaviors.
  11. It would appear that the Kings Road store is handling all back orders.Contact them & ask to speak with either Anna or Melvin. It is Anna & Melvin who are having to explain all to everybody with existing orders & no doubt take some stick from a few very angry customers, but, it's not their fault, they are merely trying to let existing customers with orders placed know that they will eventually get their sofa. Well done Andrew Cussins.
  12. Still waiting on my refund from Brora, & noticed the day after my complaint to them, they changed the wording on their descriptionof the boots to leather sole with rubber protection.Just had another look today & they have reverted back to their original wording of leather uppers& soles for the boots.I did inform Trading standards of my dispute with Brora & they mailed their answer back to me stating that Brora were in breach.I just can't believe that Brora are up tp their old tricks again with the wording on their site that the boots have leather soles.......Misleading yet again some more honest people!!!
  13. Brora contacted me by phone today, they have received the boots & have issued a refund, but the refund will take 10 days to go into my bank account.
  14. Just had a call from Brora customer services.I have to send the boots back & they will issue a full refund inclusive of return postage so long as they are returned signed for so they can be tracked.
  15. 120 Jobs lost & 20 stores closed including where my sofa was ordered & paid for. Contacted Kings Road store today in London, (I'm in Scotland where all stores have closed) I have been advised that the company has been bought over & all order books from the stores closed are now being looked at with a view to honouring all orders made, & I have to wait till next week if I don't hear anything from the company before I call back as they can't tell me anything at the moment. I'm delighted in a sense that I will receive my much awaited sofa but not so delighted on the money I paid out at the time of order which was Nov 08. Having a grump day !
