  1. No I don't believe it for 1 minute but a lot of these DCA staff act like they don't know
  2. Fredricksons should not be ringing you at work as per OFT guidance but they either ignore the guidance or don't know about it. I had a letter from them a few weeks ago asking me to contact them. I knew who the letter was from straight away as I'm a debt adviser and recognised the address. When I rang them they said it was for a Vodafone debt from 2001. When I told the guy on the phone I had a pay as you go with Orange back then and also explained that a debt that old would be statute barred, he asked me for proof I was with Orange. I quoted the parts of the OFT guidance that I use on a regular basis and he argued the toss then tried to offer me a discount if I agreed to make a payment.
  3. Thanks Honeybee. I sold the house in 2004 so if there are any statements I haven't had them. I forgot about the endowment until recently and never had anything back from it when I sold. I'll contact The Britannia and see where I get with them. Will they still have that information after 9 years?
  4. I took out an interest only mortgage back in 1999 with Verso, part of The Britannia. The mortgage was sorted through a financial adviser who advised me to take interest only rather than a repayment mortgage, and he sorted the endowment policy as well. I remember there was a big thing a few years ago about endowment policies not clearing peoples mortgages and want to know if I can still claim back on the one I had. I can't remember the name of the financial adviser apart from his first name, or the endowment provider, it was Scottish something. If I contacted the Britannia would they be able to provide the information and would I have a claim. The house was sold in 2004
  5. Hi, can anyone help please. I received a letter earlier this year telling me Barclaycard had taken over my Egg credit card & PPI. I rang Barclaycard and told them I didn't know I had PPI and to cancel it which they did. I asked for PPI to be refunded in Feb and had to fill in a questionaire which I sent back. I was told last week that my claim has been rejected as I ticked that I wanted PPI on the online application, (May 2003). From what I can remember, I think I had to tick this box to proceed with the application even though I didn't need or want it. Barclaycard have told me to go to the FOS if I disagree, which I will be doing, however I just need to know if I need to get an SAR before doing so or if I can just complain to FOS without an SAR.
  6. Same here. I didn't receive the letter Virgin sent advising of the change so the first I knew was when I looked at my bank statement this week and my direct debit payment had gone up from £55 a month to over £130. I rang Virgin who said they had written in February and they are within their rights to do this. They said it was so the balance would be paid off quicker and I would incur less interest. My concerns are that loads of people wont be able to afford these increases and many probably went overdrawn in April.
  7. That all depends on Royal London, to be honest it has been a bit of a shambles. They originally sent the cheques to an unknown address earlier in the year but they were never cashed. They claimed that was the address they had on their system although they have sent letters to the correct address in the past but they claim they have no record of the correct address. As soon as the letter turns up I'll post the calculation
  8. Hi, they said they will put it all in writing, they refused to discuss over the phone. When we were told the amount they asked staright away if we wanted to make a complaint
  9. Hi, hope someone can help here. In 1983 my parents took out a policy with the Refuge for my eldest daughter and paid in approx £1200 over 15 years which returned around £3000. When my other daughter was born in 1993 they took one out for her, then 2 more (1 each) in 1995. They paid around £400 into each during the 1st 5 years then paid lump sums of £1200 each into the 2 taken out in 1995 & £1100 into the one taken out in 1993 and left them to mature for the 15 years. At the time they were told the policies would earn interest at between 5 - 7.5% each. These policies matured earlier this year but because of an error on the companys part we have only just tracked them down. We have been told that the 3 policies will only pay out a total of £6800 which seems a bit low. The Refuge was taken over by United Friendly & is now owned by Royal London. Can anyone advise on this please as my calculations make the interest on the policies less than 2%
  10. Yes, we have storage heaters as there is no gas supply where I live
  11. On 06/11/08 I was visited by a salesman from Scottish Power, I was with British Gas at the time on an economy 7 tariff. The salesman from Scottish Power said he could save me money and I signed up to economy 7 discounted energy with a Direct Debit of £40 a month with an estimate of £480 a year. However between Dec 08 & Aug 09 the total charge has been £645, this means for a year it will be nearly £1000. I was only paying £720 a year with British Gas so it has not saved me money at all. Scottish Power have offered £25 compensation as they said the salesman has misled me regards the tariff. Can I take this any further.
  12. Had a reply from Otelo, I nowhave to write to 3's Glasgow office to Emma Warwick. Letter has gone off and I've also asked them to respond in writing, not by phone. If I have no joy there I've got to go back to Otelo
