2008 regs/CSA Codes of conduct/Enforce the rules.
blipvert replied to OnMyWayOut's topic in Debt Collection Agencies
What I'd like to see is some proper investigative journalism done on this industry, perhaps in the form of a TV programme and aired primetime terrestrial. Clearly, any decision for a TV company to initiate such a program would require their appetite whetting but its all here but it does require a trawl to find it all. Perhaps site moderator could add a searchable keyword so threads that would elicit interest for the makers of a TV program could find them easily. I think fuzzybobble mentioned earlier, with a looming recession, people affected by the misconduct of DCA's is going to increase and there are plenty of vulnerable people out there. -

mmm. interesting. Can one just go straight to the ombudsman ?. I have some recordings, I'd love to go 'straight to the top' and ask the question: Please confirm this conversation complies with OFT/CPUTR guidelines. These recordings have been indepentantly verified as 'being off the scale' regarding the guidelines.

Jess9909, usual stuff, DO NOT WORRY, however, if you do feel compelled to speak to these 'people' then buy yourself a digital recorder that can handle both sides of the conversation. My advice would be tho, spend a few hours trawling this section of the forum and glean knowledge, which will ultimately be so enlightening to you (knowledge is power) and will lead to their un-doing. I joined this site roughly a month ago and the advice has been awesome !.

>>Postggj - yes I have done S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) to no avail. I am awaiting a response from Information Commissioners Office regarding a complaint that I have made because Equifax allowed 2 DCA's on to my credit report without my authority.. Is that right, DCA's are prohibited from looking at your credit file unless they have authority from you ? -
I use a Tevion digital recorder that I bought from Aldi ages ago for circa 22 quid. It came with an input socket to accept a phone line (all I needed was a doubler). There are many digital recorders on the market, I guess if you buy one, check it comes with a phone-socket-plug thingy/jack lead. I too have some highly incriminating material but am keeping the powder dry for now so to speak.

I would like to gauge if any other CAG'ers who are on a DMP have had issues with Natwest applying interest on an old current account which is now the subject of a DMP. TIA

hello dashforcash they are some pretty serious figures you have posted and would daresay you are already 'holed below the waterline' and that hole must be plugged. Get yourself into a 'holding position' before you sink. I've found the CCCS really good at negotiating with getting interest charges frozen (how much are they a month in your case) a Co-Op cashminder account is fantastic, no fees at all, they will not entertain overdrafts and all on-line management should you require it. My only gripe with CCCS is they can sometimes be a bit pedestrian in dealing with the more aggresive DCA's that are well known on here. This only happened in my case after one of my creditors (foolishly imho) sold my debt onto one. However, they work outside of OFT/CPUTR guidelines so just tell them to **** orf. Should it come to it there is plenty of advice on here. It is truly amazing how much you can save when you put your mind to it, your nett is high, i don't know what your priority costs are but be aggresive on payback. I now do my main shop in Aldi (brazenly) but it is interesting to see other customers 'dolled up' who pack their shopping into Waitrose or M & S carrier bags.

Hello OldGlory. They are at the stage where they are being extremely obnoxious and making all manner of threats. Can anyone tell me, do they do the 'bad cop, good cop' routine as part of their psychological harrasment ?.

On that website describing an SD, it says one of the reasons to get it 'set aside' is: > The creditor failed to comply with the rules and prejudiced the debtor in the process. er, what would that cover ?.

I know banks and building societies sign upto a thing called 'the banking code'. Can someone tell me what DCA's sign upto please. I beleive its the OFT 'Debt Collection Guidance' but would be interested in the knowing if any other 'legislation' applies to these bullies. TIA

Well, I'll keep an eye on this thread because my CITI letter implies the same.
