  1. a lot of them manage to catch the startup call, so you need to reboot the system and press F8 as it is starting up (start on the BLACK screen) you will then get a message, you need to choose "Safe Mode with Networking" so that you can access the internet to download the software others have mentioned. or: while the software is on screen - press CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose "Task Manager" Right click on the application and choose "Go To Process" this will then highlight a exe name (normally jumbled letter eg asdfjkht.ese) note this down, search for it in Safe Mode and delete. Also, delete all your temporary internet files, as they normally live in there
  2. you could always look at Calculate UK Postal Barcode Checksum it might help there arent any dates or times in the code
  3. I had the same thing with NPower, for £750 of debt. the prepay readings showed a much lower usage on the same appliances. spoke to them, they said they needed a year of readings to compare. got back in touch after the year, explained the situation and they cancelled the debt and credited back what i had paid.
  4. I Got this from RMA's annual karaoke competition album
  5. Well, halifax kept to their word, the money has been refunded today
  6. all it took was the one letter, can't believe it. feel like i am floating on air at the moment!!
  7. *********** WON IT *********** Had a letter waiting for me when I got home from work offering me £1591 on a £1355 claim. I think even though I was only claiming for 12 months, they have gone all the way
  8. OK, this is in effect, a two part story. The first part is in the fact that I was mis-sold an additions account. i queried this with the bank and promptly received a refund of 9 months account charges, just with a visit to the branch. i am now starting the process of claiming back 6 years of account charges. if I win, this will be a massive amount, probably in the region of 6K, so fingers crossed. Will keep you updated
  9. break up of relationship, resulting in reduction of household income
  10. Well, yesterday I sent off my first letter, with a breakdown of charges on my bank account for the past 12 months, totalling £1,355 stating hardship Will let you know how I get on
  11. once again, because no one is bowing and scraping to him, out spouts the vitriol. I am sure the bank employees do not come on here to get abused and ridiculed by you, as it is you on this thread expressing the insults. The DWP have admitted to you that they send your NI number as a payment reference, yet you still seem to think it is the banks fault that this is visible, and you complain that your online statement matches your printed statement. shock horror, your bank is showing an accurate record of the transactions against your account, how dare they. no doubt some feel it is good riddance to you also
  12. Which I would understand and agree with if the post I quoted had also been removed, however, it has not (post #48 on this thread). Can I ask, was my post reported for some reason which resulted in its moderation? I am not trying to be difficult or a "trouble maker" I am just trying to understand the systems in place
  13. can I ask why I have had a post removed, I was not insulting toward anyone
  14. TONGUE IN CHEEK MODE you wait ages for a mod, and two come along at once lol END TONGUE IN CHEEK MODE I must say, that is an impressively fast response to the report post button *applauds site team*
  15. I offered them 3.1 on a 4.1k balance. they carried out the credit check and took my incoming/outgoing over the phone. I had to chase them a couple of times, but they did come back and accept the offer. My advice would be, stay reasonable, be polite and state your case, there ARE cases where they will listen, and help. hope this helps
  16. What is the point, seriously, of gas pre-pay meters. I had one swapped in to pay off an outstanding debt in the region of £500 NPower installed the meter, sent me my gas card, and then I waited. As soon as the meter was installed, I turned the gas tap OFF, no gas at all was being used. I also topped the meter up with £60 toward my debt. While waiting for NPower to finalise my gas bill and send the debt to the meter, the credit was ticking down with the standing charge. I then get a bill through the post with £15 quids worth of ESTIMATED gas usage on my PRE-PAY meter. At this point, I lose it with them and tell them to take the meter out and disconnect the gas completely. I pay them £500 in F&F and wait for the confirmation that this has been closed. I today get a bill through saying I STILL owe £50. £13 of that being on this usage, opening reading is 0, closing reading is 0. standing charge of 37p per day. so, if you have a pre-pay meter, they will let you put credit on, you will watch that credit go down and then top up. and even then, you STILL get bills through the post. speaking to an advisor a little while ago, she told me that people can STILL run up massive amounts of debt on a pre-pay meter. how retarded can a system be!!!!! and apparently, no matter what you put onto your meter, even if it is ALL supposed to be for your debt (like mine was) it will retain 30% of that credit for gas usage, without you being able to change that
