  1. I stuck to my guns and got 2 x charges refunded. I used the template letter on this site refusing a one off charge refund that The Halifax offered me. I had a telephone call when I told the Halifax I would borrow money to take them to court if they did not make a full refund. I was that if I accepted both refunds would I consider that matter closed. I thanked them for their good customer service and accepted the refund of my money. Keep with it and don´t lose heart.
  2. The Halifax like most banks chance their luck. I work in an environment where I can refund charges. It is simple to do and is largely up to my discretion. It seems to me there are a lot of 'jobsworth'' folk who work for the Halifax. I was charged for two failed direct debits, purely my own fault. I made a payment out of my Halifax account that I should have made out of another account. I fully explained this to them and as a token of goodwill, they have been offered reimbusement for one charge i.e. 39.00. I have politely told them what to do with it. The veiled threat in the letter is that they have a right to close my account. Great if that's what they want to do. The message I believe is to be bold and stick out for a refund of charges. Xina
