  2. Statements received yesterday (30th May). A quick scan indicates that I've got about £201 to claim back, which is nice. It's pretty confusing though as there's little to no information there. I've just looked for "Charges as notified" lines, and totalled up the figures. It's strange though as one month I was charged £28 for going £20 overdrawn and the next I went £200 overdrawn and didn't get charged. I'm waiting for the Credit Card statements and then I'm going to kick ass.
  3. Phoned the Halifax to check if my letter had been passed on to head office. They confirmed that it had, and that they were generating 6 years worth of information for me. I asked what charge, if any, they would make and I was told "None sir!" After logging on to my online banking I see that they've charged me a fiver. I doubt this is going to go smoothly though as I've requested information on multiple account and two credit cards in one letter.
  4. Letter handed over to branch manager on Sat, 13th May. I received a letter today, from the Halifax, listing all of my bill payment/money transfer instructions. I don't know if this is a standard mailing (did anyone else get it?) or if they sent it instead of my request for charges information. Is it worth a phonecall to find out if they've received my letter?
  5. This happens more than you think. I would recommend that you alert the other customer (it should be possible to identify them) and that you alert the Halifax. Make it clear that they're in serious breach of the DPA, make sure they know that your confidence in them has just hit zero, make sure you drop in the line "that their other customers should be aware that their personal information isn't safe in the hands of HBOS". This will stir up a hornets nest, expect many departments from HBOS to get involved, and also expect to get your charges paid back in full very quickly and probably a bit more besides (they want to keep you on side). That's my recommendation, as someone who has to deal with these cock-ups when they happen.
  6. Oh I'll be sure to keep you posted. I've met with our chief data protection officer to discuss the process with them, and they claim that a typical subject access request normally takes a single person a full 35 hour week to complete. However, if an individual specifically requests information (rather than a full request) which can easily be retrieved, we normally provide that for free - to avoid the high costs associated with a SAR. Of course each institution is different, which would explain why Halifax do charge a fee. I've also been warned against just requesting all of my data as they may avoid sending me the statements as the information flow is relating to transactions rather than me as an individual. Which I found interesting.
  7. Thanks for the info. -Hand in to a member of management - check -Get managers details and signature - check -Forward a copy to head office - check (easily done as I used to work there :o) As for the two seperate letters, won't I get charged the £5/£10 fee twice if I do that? Actually, you might be right, if I remember correctly, credit cards are dealt with by a completely different part of the bank.
  8. Good moaning, I'm just about to embark on my quest. I'm not expecting there to be large figures involved (probably sub £200) but I've had so many problems with the Halifax recently (they charged me silly amounts for paying my credit card 2 hours (yes, 2 hours) early and I paid 4 times the minimum amount too), than I'm pleased that I've finally got the opportunity to stick it to them. I've read through the FAQs, I've collated the documents from the library, yet I've still got a couple of questions. I've multiple accounts with the Halifax - Current, Joint Account, 2 savings accounts (I don't expect any charges here), and 4 credit cards (Actually only one, but as I had it stolen/lost it a couple of times I was re-issued with new creditcards with new numbers. So, my question, can I used the standard DPA request letter to request information on ALL of my accounts, simply by listing all of the account numbers at the top? If this is possible, then how would I provide details of my credit cards (I of course don't want to list the full 16 digit number on the letter)? I plan on handing the letter in to my local branch tomorrow (do I have to address the envelope to anyone in particular?). Thanks for reading.
  9. Just for info, HBOS don't own Natwest. The parts of the group that you're interested in are: -Halifax -Bank of Scotland -Birmingham Midshires -Clerical Medical -Intelligent Finance -Sainsbury's Bank -St Jame's Place Bank
