  1. I Think the b......s have been very clever - I am sure something is in the air with the test case etc. - they have now got this new charges thing - ie the £1 per or the £5 per day - if they have to refund all the charges then all anyone can do to avoid these new charges is to use their refund to clear the overdrafts - Halifax get their money back!!!!!
  2. hello sorry to butt in - but not show where to mention this - have just been reading an article about a man in US who bought some fags with his bank card and was charged 23quadrillion $ - when he got it sorted out with his bank - he had gone over his over draft limit (of course) but the point is he was charged a fee of 15$ for being overdrawn - isnt this about 8 quid!!!!
  3. hello just as an aside to current posts - can anyone explain when a direct debit is returned unpaid (due to a couple of quid short) what have hsbos actually done to earn their 35 plus 28 quids
  4. Could anyone help me with any information regarding banks taking charges out of someones job seekers allowance - son has just got stung for a £30.00 charge out of £45.50 benefit!!!!!
  5. many thanks for advice - will try to get something sorted in the morning - had already began claim for refund of charges - got to lba stage, then the OFT thing kicked in !! previous charges on claim were for 588 - but a further 60 since !!! How come they can have business as usual - ie still raking in the charges - when all claims are on hold to decide if they are even lawful thanks again best wishes everyone
  6. Hi everyone not sure if this should be a new thread actually but anyway.....account will go overdrawn tomorrow and 3 more DD's to come out before pay day which will of course result in 4 x £30.00 being taken. Already have 1k overdraft - does anyone have any experience of asking Hal. to extend o. draft slightly, even just temporarily - heartily sick of this lot!!!!! thanks and best of luck to you all

    What next?

The way I see things at the moment is..the banks have won, albeit temporarily.. they do not have to pay out any refunds, and from what I can gather, the court test case could take an awful long time to come to any conclusion...in the meantime, business as usual for the banks... they can still rake in the charges. Surely if they have been granted a waiver, then charges should also be put on hold
  8. hello in the same boat - lba time now up but too skint to go any further - I am wondering if, by the time I can afford it, another couple of weeks, will it be too late considering that all claims are now on hold - or will the fact you have sent the lba be classed as a registered complaint best of luck
  9. If LBA has only just been sent - will this still class as a registered complaint or will it need to go to court stage - any advice really welcome thanks
  10. I would think if this lot is now suspended - the banks should also suspend the charges......
  11. hello there very best of luck with your claim - hope the cash is with you very soon - could you tell me the best address to send the SAR to get the statments please. Thanks
  12. hello everyone posted my SAR on 23 April - still not heard anything and the £10 cheque no even cashed!!
  13. hello everyone does anyone know how I can get statements on line for last 2 years - have registered for on line banking but can't locate them on the site many thanks and good luck !!
  14. hello just wondering if anyone knows how long Hal. usually take to cash the 10 SAR fee - sent mine on 23 April and still not cashed
  15. Does anyone know how long Hal. usually take to cash the £10.00 SAR fee - sent my 3 weeks ago but not cashed cheque yet. and the best of luck to everyone
  16. Hello I too am panicking in case they close my account - have only just sent the SAR - but acc. is just on the 1k overdraft limit> seaside lady - I note you said they are not allowed to close accounts in retalliation - do you have any legal stuff to back this up - by the way congratulations!!
  17. hello everyone best of luck with all your claims - I am claiming for my son for the sum of £30.00 - he went over by 1.54 and had 30 quid took out of his account which is only 45.00 a week Job seekers allowance - they have ignored 2 letters we have sent so have now posted the LBA - it will cost them a lot more than 30 if they don't cough up soon !!!
  18. Have had an account with Hal. for 22 months now and not yet sure how much I have racked up in charges. Got repaid from Yorkshire Bank in December, but wary of taking on the Hal. as I have a 1000 overdraft which is always near the full limit. Does anyone have any experience of Hal. closing accounts if you reclaim the charges, and demanding the overdraft to be paid back immediately. The very best of luck with everyone's claims
  19. I did not realise that the dca's buy the debts for so little - is it really only 10%
  20. Hello all Just wondered if anyone had any experience of Halifax closing accounts - did a successful claim against yorkshire bank last december - now want to tackle Halifax - but I have an overdraft of 1000.00 which is always very near the last few quid - just don't want them to close the account and demand the 1000 back. best of luck everyone
  21. hello caro I wish to you the very best of luck with round 2 of YB - I claimed from them last december. Just wondered if you could help with this one - I have an account with Halifax now. Last week my friend gave me a cheque for 50.00 for some work I had done - put it into the Halifax on 1st March. On 9th March got the cheque back from Halifax saying it had not been honoured - as my friend has loads of cash in the bank could not think why - went to see him- he contacted his bank - tsb - who said he had missed out a whole cheque book and started a new one with my cheque, so they thought one had been lost or stolen, so stopped all cheques from the new book. All was sorted out. In the meantime, before I knew the cheque had been stopped I went overdrawn twice on 5 march once for 5 and once for 8 pounds - now been slapped with 2 x £30.00 charges!! I am keen to challenge this with Halifax, but as I have an overdraft of £1000 which is always near the knuckle, I am fearful they will close the account and want the 1k back - which is impossible. Would really welcome your advice as you have been so clever and forthright with YB, and |I really admire you for that. Once again, best of luck. Janice
  22. hello there Just wondered if anyone could help with regards to Moorcroft - my elderly Mother had a call last week from Moorcroft with regards to an outstanding debt of around £1100.00 with a mail order catalogue - they quoted an address which my mother had no knowledge of, and an account which she has no knowledge of - they had the right name but the wrong address, and when I rung them they would not tell me how they had got my mothers home tel. no - this was really puzzling - I rung the mail order firm to check any accounts at my mothers address and there was nothing. I have since sent Moorcroft proof of my mother having been at her address for many years. As yet they have not responded but my mother is in a "bit of a state". Would really appreciate any advice with this - it is obvious that someone has used her name but not her address to get goods. Many thanks
  23. hello everyone Just wondered if anyone could help - I have recently settled with Yorkshire Bank for charges incurred (took 6 months though!). I have had charges to my account with Halifax and was considering starting a new claim with them - however, I have an overdraft of £1000.00 which is constantly used ( in fact always within a pound or two !!) if I began the claim would they ask me to clear the overdraft or close the account - would really appreciate any advice. The very best of luck with all your claims. J.
  24. Congratulations to everyone who has won so far and the very best of luck to all those still waiting - have a very happy christmas everyone - and hope that your cases are settled very soon. best of luck J
