  1. HI Myself and my partner are on a DMP, and one of his debts (Approx 6K) is on his Nat West Credit Card. Because our exisitng basic bank account wasnt really suitable (due to no branch nearby) I have just changed to a new basic bank account with RBS, not realising this was connected to Nat West. I am now a little concerned that we have both arranged for our salaries to go in from next month and that this would give them access to our money to clear the debt if they so desired. I will add we have not had any threats from Nat West and they appear happy with our monthly payment also could they monitor what we spend our money on, I am having to go to spain in sept to try and sort out some legal stuff in relation to my late father, dont want them thinking i am spending my money on holidays ? Am I just being paranoid ?
  2. I would contact the ACAS advice line for confidential advice - and do nothing until you have spoken to them Acas 08457 47 47 47 Acas - How can we help?
  3. I am writing to Nationwide today, to complain about my O/D being slashed in half without me even receiving a letter. The effect of this has made me accrue charges for bounced items, interest and an increase to my credit card debt Doubt I will get much joy......... But I will have a go
  4. Why not phone the ACAS advise line - its confidential http://www.acas.org.uk
  5. Sounds like you have it all sorted, however, it has been used in court that a sign saying "beware of the dog" is an admission of guilt that a dog "may" be dangerous- this was used in a case of a greyhound called Billy who was seized under the DDA in the 1990's. I have been at the forefront of the DDA since 1990 (and the rumblings of the legistration before this) and have sat in court whilst the police will pull every trick they know to get a destruction order - Luckily Billy escaped the death penalty - but I would warn any dog owner of the perils of displaying such notices on their gates/fences. what may seem light hearter humour to us dog lovers (ie I can get to the gate in......) can be used against you should you fall foul of this law. May I also point out that the DDA does not only apply to Pit Bull Types (only under section 1 and 4b) Section 3 refers to any dog that causes apprehension in a public place (note, an injury does not have to occur) The DDA is a very dangerous piece of legistration, not to be taken lightly. I am glad you have sought advice - and hugs to the dogs x
  6. I would be happy to go for a co-ordinated attack, it has cost me well over £300 in charges, and forced me to up my debt on my Nationwide Credit card, which I was been trying to reduce.
  7. Contact Trevor Cooper Solicitor as soon as possible Doglaw EDIT In previous DDA cases it has been deemed that if you display a sign warning that your dog may protect the land being entered into, then that is an admission that your dog is dangerous.
  8. I have an account with Nationwide, which is in OD at the moment (authorised) but reducing by £80 p.m. I have today spoken to the CCCS as I am struggling with debt, they have advised me to open another bank account and transfer all salary credits and DD's for priority debts...but NOT my credit cards They state that I must not let my bank know this as they may call in the overdraft BUT I also have a credit card with N.Wide, they have told me to stop paying all credit cards whilst I await advice from them. My question is ~ when canceling my Credit Card Direct Debits should I include my Nationwide credit card or leave that DD set up, for fear that if that is not paid by my bank (Nationwide) they will call in the Overdraft ? thank you in anticipation
  9. I have recently been a victim of nationwide cutting my O/d without notice - I had a £4k OD that was I only discovered was cut to £2k when I went onto the online banking and thought "what the hell is going on" as I had many bounced DD's - I rang them immediately and they said they had sent a letter ? I am now in an arranged OD for a lesser amount of originally £3400, reducing by £80 per month. Yhey made me make a payment from my Nationwide credit card for £700 to reduce my OD down to £3400, so i am paying interest on that as well as the charges for the bounced items AND I may add, I am an ex branch manager for nationwide, my years of loyalty, working through lunch hours, early morning and late night counts for nothing with them ! rant over !
  10. I own a property (mortgaged) and want to let it out, I have to go for an interview with my lender (Halifax plc) next wednesday to discuss. However I am trying to find out what the criteria is for them to agree this. They will not tell me anything over the phone. I have a few concerns 1) we have a secured loan 2) we are struggling with the repayments (although we have never missed a payment or been even a day late 3) my income has halved since taking out the original mortgage 4) we are re-locating, so i will have to give up my current job and look for a new job we are going to stay with my mother and this will be rent -free (with just a contribution towards gas/elec) until we back on my feet. The original mortgage was for £132000, with a secured loan of £25000, the property value was £158000 when we brought a year ago. We have just been turned down by the for a further advance (on affordability) so not sure if this will go against us ? any advise on how we should approach this would be appreciated thank you
