1. Have a look at the Npower Boycott Facebook page. There is someone on there whose story mirrors yours. It would seem that it may be a more common occurrence than you think
2. Fingers firmly crossed that you find something wrong.
3. Here are the statements. They don't make pretty reading in the early years (but who takes a loan when they have got money) However the account was overpaid regularly in the later stages Forgive me as clearly I am not the sharpest tool in the box but as the PPI was mis-sold how can the opening balance be for almost £15,500 when we only borrowed £12,000?
4. Ok. I think I understand what you say. However if all the arrears were cleared at this point how could the account then be £1,300 in arrears according to Black Horse in March of the same year?
5. Hi ims thanks for your detailed reply. The crux is then that the PPI repayment did not in fact reduce the balance of the account. As for the interest before the first due payment it was a few days. I am at work today but will scan up the statements when I get a chance. Once again thank you for your help.
6. Could I ask another question? Would the fact that they added interest before the first payment was actually due have any bearing at all. It would mean that the initial amount was in fact more than stated on the agreement.
7. Hi ims. Yes there was a letter I will dig it out later and post it up. From what I remember they took around £2400 to clear arrears and then sent us the balance of about £1780.
8. It is already the subject of a formal complaint. That is what finally produced the statements. Do I need to mark my reply letter as a Formal Complaint and would you suggest posting it here first for opinions?
9. Thanks Brig. The whole of that page is extremely confusing. Payments in and out, interest refund and other things. The important thing is that their own figures seem to hang them. The problem is how do I get them to admit it?
10. This seems to be the offending page. It appears that the PPI refund of £1,780.67 was actually ADDED to the account and not subtracted. I have noticed another post with a similar problem. Could this be the case there also? I have calculated that by using their statements as evidence (totalling the payments made to the account shown on them) that payments made are £19,017.27. Add to this amount the PPI refund and whatever else should be credited from the above statement page. (I would be grateful if anyone could decipher it) then we have overpaid by quite an amount. At the moment I have a letter written and ready to go detailing the above but would greatly appreciate opinions as to what I am stating being right or wrong.
11. Not a SAR but the result of the letter sent in post#50. We got statements from them for the duration of the account. There are a few discrepancies i.e interest added BEFORE the first payment was even due. Amounts added back to the account after a PPI refund in 2010. All very strange and of course it would now seem that we have paid far more than we should have and according to them still owe over £8,000. We did SAR them a few years ago but they sent over 4,000 pages of documentation in no particular order for every account that we ever held with the Lloyds banking group. It was just too overwhelming to sort out.
12. We have received back what we assume is their response. The first thing which is obvious is that there were interest charges added to the account BEFORE the first payment was even due. Then during the period of the PPI refund in 2010 there is a mysterious sum of almost £1,800 added to the balance along with this there are 3 payments of £200 which are showing on the statement which we have made since the mysterious sell off to IDEM which then show as a zero balance ???? In other words they have not appeared as a credit after the sell off which is stated as a write off on the statements. I will go through the statements and total up the total amount paid but I an confused about where this is going. Just a footnote IDEM have not had any payments yet, should I write to them explaining what is going on? Please could someone look at this and give me some advice. I have added up all of the figures on the agreements It would appear that in total the amount paid on this account is £25,520.89. the amount due was £20,820.00 However there is some figures from the time of the PPi settlement which are very confusing. Payments in and out of the account which do not make any sense. This would appear to have caused the discrepancy. The problem now as far as I can see is that IDEM now hold a secured loan (mortgage) on our house and Black Horse appear to have washed their hands of the debt which figures apparently show is overpaid. How do I now sort this out?
13. Further to the post that I made yesterday there is a response below these documents which appears to have been made by an employee (or maybe ex-employee) of Npower The process that they made us all work is not compliant in the slightest. If a customer receives a late bill and are eligible for back billing, then their account should be worked out to the penny. This should include every payment the customer had made, (if what they were paying every month covered their consumption then they would get nothing). Every meter reading we received, price changes, tariff discounts and Direct Debit discounts had to be worked out manually and back billing would be applied. In some cases this would have to be worked out over years. They were not compliant in many ways, but the main one is the calculator they made use didn't take any of these thing in to account. Straight away they are breaking the law! The process that they forced people to do was just like SAP unfit for purpose. It rewarded people who were quarterly receipt of bill payers but penalised people who had paid continuously by Direct Debit because in most cases they were in credit when they were eventually billed up to date and they would get nothing. In fact they would be lucky if they if they got their own money back! Every account i was made to work and issue back billing refunds were incorrect, but they made us send them out anyway. The accurate billing rules would appear to mean nothing to Npower who are one of the signatories to them.
14. Found these online, They explain how Npower work out back bills
15. Have a look here. Don't know if this is the type of thing you are looking for http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?428543-npower-class-action-anyone-interested&p=4579879&highlight=npower#post4579879
16. There is some proof that Npower are guessing the amount of usage for late bills. If you read a couple of other Npower threads you will find where this information is.
17. If you ask the question on here https://www.facebook.com/pages/Npowe...923480?fref=nf Perhaps someone can answer what meters start from.
18. Had a letter back today just asking for the £1 fee for the paperwork.
19. Have a look at the post made on this link on 5th July. This explains how late bills are worked out. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Npower-Boycott/232440386923480?fref=nf
20. Perhaps they should. I wonder if the same sanctions etc. will be applied as they were for Wonga?
21. I wondered why it had gone to IDEM and not SCM. Perhaps this explains why. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2680068/Fury-banks-send-Wonga-style-legal-threats-customers-MPs-condemn-dishonest-distressing-tactic.html
