Hi all. I've tried to post before but I'm not very good at this sort of thing. After 2 letters we got an offer today on our joint account. It is just over £100 less than the £2100 we were after, but we are accepting anyway. The acceptance letter has no conditions attached at all. Can I right back saying we accept but only if they stop imposing the charges? Im also writing back asking for £800 on my account. Good luck to all.
please ensure that you have other banking facilities in place before going after them again, its not uncommon for them to close accounts of people who claim more than once

Thanks mate, yeah thats what i thought. It was a friend of my mums who had her account closed after she claimed £4000 back from them. I had a look earlier at the NatWest accounts and i was wondering if you can get an unauthorised overdraft charge with the step account, as theres no overdraft facility with it. Is that what makes that account a good one to change to?

well mostly because of the fact its one of the easiest ones to get approved for, even if your credit score is a little less than perfect

ok, first things first, who told you that they would definitely close your account?
secondly, for the most part , those that only submit one claim to hsbc dont have their accounts closed
and thirdly the natwest step acount sounds ideal for you, alternatively

the £54 interest isnt the 8% apr interest is it?, if so you cant claim that until you submit your court claim

unfortunately its quite complicated due to it not being controlled entirely from the bank, they can affect your credit file by saying that you owe them money, even if they decided to amend the file, the other agencies who reference from it would already have a seperate profile of you and so on, in any case even if the slate was wiped clean today it could be up to a year until you would see any benefit, and in some cases even longer

no-one has actually got to court yet, its their last tactic to dissuade you and make you get cold feet and give up, dont worry

watch this space, one of the other hsbc claimants has just been asked if the ombudsman can use her case to challenge the banks on such decisions, as they believe it to be unfair

no-one who has followed the advice from this site has lost a case , from issuing your mcol to money being in your account should be around 1-3 weeks

congratulations, you dont have to draft a letter, unless you really want to ofcourse , you can merely put a line throught the confidentiality stipulation, and initial it, then return the letter as normal

how much was the dr- interest , amounting to?
you're absolutely sure you went over your o/d? hmm....... sometimes the bank used to in the past have some leeway (sp?) over the charges, i had some refunded years ago , ofcourse they cant do it anymore, but maybe they looked at your accoutn and thought , well he looks

dont worry about confusing them, they will know whats coming anyway, the wording that you quoted is standard waffle, they have tp put this out to make it appear that everything is legitimate, and also to try and dissuade you, but you know better ,
yes hsbc have closed accounts down, but only as far as im aware for those that claim twice, dont seperate the refund requests unlesss the amount goes over £5k

never ever send cash in the post, as it may well magically "disappear", send a cheque and make it payable to hsbc plc

To be honest not sure where you stand if you have not already asked for yor interest back. I would just send a letter asking for the additional £59.00 (mine was an additional £64 and they have now said they will refund this so keep going!). The additional interest is an additional 8% on top of the charges you have claimed so in your case an additional £43.00 - would say you can not then add the interest charges on to your claim when you get to the MCOL stage but may be wrong - any other opinions???
the 8% interest is an apr i.e 8% of the amount for every year since the charge, so it will be more than £44

just booked another holiday to cornwall, my 3rd in 18 months, going back to mullion on the lizard, absolutely fantastic part of the world

i faxed them my charges breakdown and got my settlement two days later

not neccessary its a waste of your time, it wont help you to get your money any faster, so unless you feel especially aggrieved, dont bother

cant go back beyonf 6 years as they arent required by law to hold information this far back, which means that even though they prob do have it they dont have to disclose it to you as they can say they dont have it, so you wont see anything beyond 6 years

dont worry you will prob receive a letter from the court on monday saying the bank have filed a defence, followed by another on tuesday from the solicitors offering full settlement, nearly there
