  1. It's a bit different when the shoe is on the other foot though - Morrisons recently did me out of £20 on a bungled cashback transaction which I only found out about by viewing a statement and could I hell get my money back of them as "it was my mistake for not checking the till receipt amount before leaving the store" this was despite me having an option of them phoning my bank and having a switch reference number for them to phone at the store - they said I would have to write to head to claim etc etc etc. In short I'll never get my money back unless a go through a long drawn out process - So in light of this I suggest to Cdrsilver that he keeps the item of a set period without using it and wait for them to contact him - it was their mistake, why should he do all the leg work?
  2. I've had this happen once to me with Natwest - they were really helpful about it, they told me the check had been lost in transit somewhere and that I should request that the cheque issuer re-issue the cheque and as he (my employer) banked with Natwest they would guarantee the money should the cheque ever resurface and be used in a fraudulent transaction. Just before this time and not relating to the lost cheque I had gone overdrawn and was about to be charged a hefty fee but they waived it as a good will gesture and that was without me asking. I'm sure if you go direct to your bank they can help you out in someway in terms of a free overdraft whislt the issue is sorted - they wont howevergive you the money on definate terms as the cheque is lost - how can they cover themselves and how could they present the cheque for payment themselves? Go to your branch ASAP!
  3. Right OK, I'll have to request the policy details anyway as I can't find them anywhere, apparently I may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere after reading a few things on this forum! - Thanks for the help:)
  4. Ah right I see - now. I thought the gap insurance was something a bit different. Thanks for clearing that up! So all insurance monies would paid directly to me and I pay off any outstanding finance money out of it? That sounds right doesn't it?
  5. I know this may be a silly question but it's my first car and I've not got much experience with insurance LOL My question is: I bought my car on finance and I have Gap insurance. I bought the Gap insurance with the dealer and it is under written by AXA - my normal road insurance is fully comp from Marks&Spencers (Who I'd recomend to anyone) - in the event of an accident and the car is written off, who do the insurers pay the money too (both Gap and normal)? Me or direct to the finance company:confused: It's just been something I've been thinking about and I've asked other people and nobody seems to know LOL! Thanks for any time guys:)
  6. Yes and the Natwest basic (step) account has an online transfer system which is free so I think the topic poster here needs to have a chat with an advisor at his bank as to what features his bank actually has and how to use them. You can also initiate transfers of money to any account via Natwest telephone banking too. Natwest are one of the best highstreet banks around. They don't issue cheques with the step account because there is little or no need for them given the transfer options they have listed - it would be a waste of paper!
  7. Hi! Thanks for moving this but I already made a duplicate here once I realised my mistake. Can you merge/delete?
  8. Well we phoned Martin and co and were told we had to email/write in any complaints or query's so I did email them explaining the situation last Friday and I've yet to hear anything back from them. I'm about to email them again now.
  9. I posted this in the wrong forum so I'm reposting here! Hope you can help:) To cut a long story short I vacated a property that I had been renting for six months over 3 weeks ago. At the time I was told that my deposit would be with me within 2 weeks....fine I thought! Can I just add that I paid my rent by standing order every month on time and left the flat spotless. When I had not received a cheque I called the letting agents who informed me that because the franchise had been sold they did not have my money! I have not received my deposit back, not because the place is damaged, they aren't disputing that I am due my £595 pounds, but because they can't work out who should pay it! You see I signed a contract and paid the deposit with a letting agents but not only was the property I was staying in sold whilst i was living there the letting agency was also sold (it operates under a franchise scheme so the franchised office was sold and is under new mangement but the original letting company, "Martin & Co" - a nationwide letting agency still exists) I phoned the new office nad the manager tells me she does not know who should pay me the money: The old landlords The new landlords The former franchise operators The new franchise operators I have a signed contract with Martin & co letting agents along with a receipt for paying the deposit money to them. In the contract it says the money will be held by the letting agency so they must pay me back right? Are they allowed to do this? I am fuming. I have lent this money from elsewhere and at the moment I do not know when or if I will get my money back!
