  1. Hitby, Make sure you have a full written local engineers report either by an independent engineer or local Renault dealer, make sure who carries this out are themselves qualified with IAEA, IMI and so on, and make them aware it may end up in a court room. You don’t want to be in a position where someone tries to bamboozle you with all the technicalities of a motor vehicle. Be prepared in advance and let the fiancé company and garage know what your doing and for them to expect the bill for the inspection fee. Good luck don’t let them get one over on you!
  2. Delboytrotter, Try these links should provide you with official recalls and so on: http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/index.jsp?makeName=Renault&makeId=D6 http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017820 Hope it helps & good luck……..
  3. Sorry for delay, you must get the faults confirmed via a written report by a Local Qualified Independent Engineer or the local Manufacturers Dealer, I know it may cost but with these types of companies you really do need a full report carried out by a qualified person (I do not mean Fred in the Shed). Build a concrete case first then throw the car back at them. Don’t forget the Sale of Goods Act and you may even be able to reclaim your inspection fees, just an idea. Good Luck.
  4. I would approach the warranty department at Ford UK; see if they can do something with your local Ford dealer (offer a replacement vehicle or costs towards it). Know it sounds silly but make sure they have accepted that the Drive shaft is covered by their warranty due to failure. It may even be worth speaking with the commercial vehicle side of Ford, making sure they understand the “off road” problems and costs involved. Good Luck.
  5. Bexster30 – I would recommend contacting a local Qualified Independent Engineer, He/she will be able to give you a full report based on his Independent findings. Make sure they are Independent and qualified and members of such recognised organisations such as The IAEA, IMI and so on. Cost could be anything from £60 to £150 but as an Independent Engineer their reports can be used against the garage as leverage or should you need to go to court they will be accepted as expert witness reports. Again make sure they are qualified and listed with the relevant institutes. In these sorts of cases usually you can recover such fees from the garage.
