  1. Did you bring your Pgen account with you to this address? At least they have offered to resolve this issue with you for you overpayments. Those electric wall heaters cost a fortune to run and only work if your at home all day long, even on E7 tarrifs they worked out badly effective for warmth vs costs(for me). How did you buy somewhere that you couldnt get access to your meters? Seems a half and half situation because one of the first jobs when one moves into a new place is to get meter readings and send them into the supplier. I hope you have some luck resolving your overpayments, Pgen are a fairly decent supplier in that area and should issue you a refund providing your consumption has deacreased accordingly:)
  2. On a PPm meter you Pay a standing charge per day, everyday, I believe Bg PPm standing charge is 19p per day, Are you using a quantum meter? You should be able to check the unit rate you have by pressing the blue button until it shows you the Kwh rate, from that menu you should also be able to see what your weekly standing charge is. I was with a customer last week with no debt on their meter who was paying £8.50 a week standing charge. Easy answer is to get off the ppm meter and take advantage of the lowered unit rates compared to a ppm.
  3. I cant because I work for em,, Advertising isnt allowed. Sorry
  4. Every utillity company will make you pay MORE for being on a prepayment meter Evey company without exception. If your happy paying 25 - 30% more per Kw then who can complain. Personally I sat there with a tarrif sheet from every uk distributor and worked out who was the cheapest and how,, then I got my prepayment meter removed and my electricity bill has deacreased from £15 a week Down to a £33 per month dd and I have a credit with my supplier.
  5. My gas provider is 35% cheaper than the standard Bg tarrif and Id have to pay in advance, Where's the saving? I pay 2.15p per kwh on a monthly direct debt:) with no standing charge.
  6. What Upset me about your Advertising NeilP was that You diddnt tell your potential customer that you would make a commission off the sale PLUS a percentage of what that customers spends every month. Are you on the 6% scale or the 8% bonus per customer? have you had the Company boxster for a month yet? If this site is supposed to help folk out then it involves the members being honest to the posters. Uwarehouse have a list of complaints with Energywatch longer than almost anyothers Except Bg. Uw aint the cheapest provider either;)
  7. Lol the whole thing with a 'fixed' direct debt is that its the same ammount EVERY month so hell yeah you will build up a substancial credit during the summer. You use that during the winter months when your gas useage increases threefold. From my expirence most decent companies (bg excluded) issue credit back once per half year and I get a cheque back from my provider twice a year but I happily continue paying them the same ammount every month.
  8. This is the direct problem with PPm meters,, and why 3 of the top suppliers have been Directly accused of bad business by energywatch, Scottish Power Npower and Powergen have all been accused of back charging PPm customers because they cant get to all the meters in time to keep up with the price shennaigans they all play.
  9. There will be a multiplication factor involved in your gas bill, I think with SSE its x1.5 to convert units to Kwh with a kwh costing 3.11p for the first 1143kwh the price then drops to 2.75pkwh. Although you should be able to check this for yourself by ringing them on one of their 0800 numbers.
  10. When you left your previous property was it empty for a while? What has caused your excessive debt is the daily standing chare on the PPm (PrePayment meter). I moved into a property with a PPm meter that had been empty for a months and there was a debt on the meter of over £700 on the meter. I obviously got the meter reset by my supplier. When you have an enforced installation of PPm meters the company can basically set the unit rates at whatever they see fit to repay the debt. Obviously when you left your property you should have informed your supplier and continued to repay them. Uriel
  11. No customers are allowed to switch utillitys providers, whilst there is an outstanding debt listed on their premises. NeilP should know this fact already as he should be an accredited agent through Energysure and legally shouldnt be advising you to switch through his website to a company he gets paid commission from. Again sorry to bear bad news hannahsmygirl but you gotta clear your debt before you can leave Npower.
  12. All gas piping from your meter outwards belong's to the national grid, No they dont need your permission to take a sprue off the pipeline as it doesnt belong to you. Why not ask your neibours how much they paid for connection fees? What your recipt means is you paid £600 to have a gas supply installed and for the labour involved with the new gas distribution. No have no legal ownership of the pipe nor any rights to allow or dissallow others to utillise your distro. Sorry I hope that helps,, I know it aint positive but maybe you should have spoken to your neibours and mentioned it and come up with a price for all 3 flats to be connected as im sure that would have significantly reduced All your costs. 13. Hi Guys its my 1st post here but Uswitch Victims are people I meet day in day out as Im an area manager for one of the largest utillitys companys in the Uk. I have massive issues with them as a service provider, the information they give you is sketchy to say the least, no where on ANY of the comparison sites like uswitch do they show you a unit rate,, all they tell you is how much cheaper X company is. One thing I have discovered about uswitch from working within this industry is their Top listed providers (funnily enough) ALWAYS seem to be the Companys who pay largest ammounts of commission and those companys who pay very little commission always seem to be lowest on their comparisons. The really crazy thing is most folk will accept a reduction of their direct debts by a company like this not realizing that someone has missed the In in the middle of DD. Once a customer is in debt to a utillitys company,, they cannot leave them until the customer has paid back the debt and Ive been unfortunate enough to witness A nameless company break somones door down with the police present (while this person was away on holiday), and install prepayment meters at whatever unit price they saw fit, I dont work for this company but I still felt ashamed at having to be present to witness (we were the local distributor for this person) but not their supplier.
