  1. Thanks for the advice J&W, we know a dog trainer/behaviourist in the village so we'll speak to her
  2. This is a great scheme, I'm going to tell all my friends who are dog owners about this. We have a lovely, but sometimes fiesty border terrier. And this is why if we see other dogs in the field, we put him straight back on the lead, but unfortunately the other owners don't think to do the same and so we can find outselves in a very growly situation as the other (usually bigger) dog comes bounding across to have a play and a sniff. Unfortunately our dog was attacked when he was minding his own business at the weekend, which may make him very timid or even more growly, so the yellow ribbon will come in handy if we find this is the case. At least until we can get him some training. Can also sympathise with the leg gnashing - had the same last year!!
  3. Hi andy and bankfodder Thanks for your help. Yes it is small claims. I tried to google court compensation and such like but all that came back was no-win-no-fee pages. I've just googled wasted costs and it's very helpful, cheers.
  4. Hi everyone and happy jubilee weekend Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I wasn't sure where to post it. It's really a general court question. I had to attend court twice earlier this year due to my lettings agent claiming I owed 3 months' rent, of which I was trying to prove it was only 1 month's (I had bank statements showing I'd paid). I paid the 1 month I knew I owed, as I was moving house and didn't want a crappy reference - the agent then stopped the claim, as I was due to go back a third time (their solicitor and supposed evidence was a joke so the case kept getting put back). Anyway, I have a shop which I run on my own and so was unable to open whilst I had to attend court. Can I claim compensation and if so does anyone know how I go about this?
  5. Too right 45002! I'm sure my previous landlord would be happy to, was with them for 5 years, and been with this joker for less than 6 months.
  6. Hi Mariner, thanks for your reply. The agency we are looking to get a house with have asked for £35 each for credit checks etc, which is fair enough. Obviously we have had to put our current letting agents down on the form for a reference, but if they demand £200 for it then I am going to tell them where to go. Just wanted to check that it wasn't something they could enforce.
  7. Hello all, My husband and I are looking for a new house to rent. One of the houses we went to see was with the same agency as we're with now. When we got there we were given a letter stating that it would cost us £200 to just start the referencing process. I've been renting houses for 15 years and I have never had to pay a letting agent to write a reference when leaving a property, let alone £200, and if we were to take up this new house with them (which we're not) £200 for the agency to write a reference to themselves!! Has anyone else been in this situation? What are our rights? As far as I'm concerned they can whistle for it but I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything legal I can throw back at them to say they can't do this?
  8. I had a Cahoot loan too from 2003 until a couple of years ago. I remember the massive hike in interest (how could anyone forget), but just thought as it was a flexiloan then I had agreed to it. Hoping I still have my statements from when I claimed back my PPI 3 years ago!
  9. Thanks Slick. What if the court were to not apply another stay?
  10. HI everyone so my claim was stayed until May 30th in the end, but i have to apply to the court for further directions by the end of next week (good job i was sifting through some old documents and found the letter from the court, I'd completely forgotten about it). I haven't recieved anything from them saying it has been stayed again (I usually have by now), so i need to wing off my letter. As Martin said, I'll say that nothing has been settled but what else do I need to include in the letter? Thanks in advance for your help.
  11. Hi everybody Hope you're all well. I have a dilemma, I unfortunately have a current account with Cahoot, and have just found out I've been charged 2 x £30 for being £1.89 over my overdraft (to cut a long story short, it apparently it crossed a statement period). I asked for the first charge back when it was applied but haven't heard anything back, and have now just found out about this second charge. I've been charged a few times in the past but haven't sent them a letter requesting my money back yet. What I want to know is, should I try and get this £60 back for these 2 charges now (as in my head it seems easier, because of the meagre sum I was in excess and with it only being £60)....or should i whack em with a complaint and try and get them all back? I'm just thinking my letter would be put in the huge pile that's growing by the day, if the sum is in the 100's. Or could I do both?
  12. Hi everyone It's been a while.... So after my court case being put on hold from Aug 07 to Sept 08 and then to Jan 09, apparently after 30th Jan I need to write to the court to ask for directions. Does anyone know what this means and what I have to put in the letter? Thanks
  13. Thanks alanalana! Just want to get my cheque through first before I post on PPI successes
  14. Just to let you know I received a letter from Abbey today saying they are going to refund my payments and interest to the tune of £1780.55!!!! :D:D PLease could someone change the title to WON? Thanks
  15. Does anyone know how I attach a scanned document to a thread?
  16. Hi Lula, I'm at work at the moment but i'll have another look at it when I get home and let you know. From what I remember though, they basically what to know every single detail of my circumstances at the time I took out the loan.
  17. Hi everyone I sent a letter off to Cahoot about PPI a few weeks ago and they have sent me back a questionnaire they want me to fill in. I've had a scout around the forum and it seems I should decline to fill it in, given they should have enough information on me already. Is there anything else I should include in my reply? I don't want to miss anything out.
  18. no haven't had it check yet but have got details of the prescribed terms a cca must have from moneysavingexpert, so will have a look at those and check against mine. I sent my letter off last week anyway, asking for my ppi back Here's hoping...
  19. Hi Sparklez, just found your thread from the PPI successes, well done! I am pursuing a PPI claim with Cahoot also, although it has taken them nearly a year to send me my cca. Anyhow, when you received all the info from them, was there anything that said you signed up to PPI or any reference to it? From the info they've sent me I can't see anything about it (even on the cca). Did you challenge them on this?
  20. I asked on the moneysavingexpert forum and someone replied saying i'll probably have to start paying the DD again seeing as I have now got the cca (regardless of it being outside the timescales). I'm going to send them a letter asking if they can prove that I opted for PPI, because from all the information I've had from them - some of it being every action I've ever made on the website - I can't see anywhere that I've ticked (or unticked) the PPI box.
  21. No they haven't defaulted me, I haven't heard anything off them since the phone call, which I find a bit strange. my next payment is due soon though but i suppose since they sent me the cca i should pay it. Thanks for the link though, I'll have a read through.
