  6. Yeah i had a letter of acknowledgment after my LBA, i had to send that special delivery. My first two letters were not signed for even though they were delivered recorded..was a bit of mission trying to get halifax to even acknowledge they had got them.
  7. Cheque cleared for £166, and ive put a claim in for the other half. So just waiting for them to respond.

I have recieved the cheque and the money has cleared, im now £624 better off, I should be able to pay off one of my cards now. Thanks
  9. Well Capital One have refunded half of the £356 to my account, so i gave them a call to see if i could get the rest out of them, no luck so im putting a claim in. The guy i spoke to suggested that i should ring the Financial Ombudsman and if they think the bank has acted unfairly then they will refind me the rest, I cant see it happening myself.

  11. OK , thanks for the advice.
  12. I checked my account and ive just realised they refunded me £40, do i just continue claiming the original amount of £356, bearing in mind that i sent my LBA after the refund? Surely they should have contacted me about this partial refund?

Recieved a letter from MBNA, saying i will recieve a written response within 28 days from the date of the reciept of my complaint. Also provided is a number for Gareth Tunnicliffe, Customer Advocate. I assume this is a standard response to the preliminary letter? Ps. Can the thread title be changed to be more relevant to the stage that im at? Like psbuk v MBNA etc. I didnt think it was worth starting a new thread. thx
  16. Just received the standard letter from Robert Udy saying that the charges are fair etc. Is it worth ringing or not? Also is the 14 days from when its sent or delivered, sry if this has been asked before. thx
  17. Yep, thats the onyl reason ive been using recorded, just for my reasurance. It just helps me keep track of everything, well thats the plan anyway.
  18. Thx Good luck with your claims.
  19. Ok thx guys, I always though that they had to sign for each item, now i know. Ill be using special delivery from now on. They might as well not bother having Recorded delivery, if thats the way it works. thx
  20. Sent off my preliminary letter and it was delivered on the 20th May. Ill keep you posted.
  21. I sent my DPA letter on the 25th April, a couple of days later it showed that it had not been delivered on the Royal Mail website, so I tried again the next day, and so on. I phone up Royal Mail, they tell me it will have to be classed as lost, fair enough i thought. When checking my bank statement i find that the cheque had been cashed on the 11th may. I call Halifax, apparantly they have no record of a letter or a cheque, they obviously havent a clue whats goin on. How the hell can Royal Mail deliver a 1st class recorded item, and class it as lost? Luckily i get a call from Halifax explaining that they have now found the record of that cheque being paid in. I still havent got my statements/list of charges yet, should they have sent them as soon they cashed the cheque?
