  1. Thank you... If this is the case though surely some people would choose not to pay the whole debt off as it seems to make no difference if you do and the default dissappears after 6 years anyway? Or is that not the case? (I am paying mine off by the way, I am just curious)
  2. Hope you can help me?I have been working in my new job (Investment Banking) as a contractor for a year now and got offered a permanent role. When then did a 'thorough' credit check they asked to see my Credit Exeprian report which has 6 defaults on there (from when I lost my job a few years ago and couldnt keep up with repayments and STUPIDLY buried my head in the sand). Because of these defaults they have decided to withdraw the offer of a permanent role AND end my contract.I have been making regular repayments without fail for 2-3 years now on all these defaults.My questions are:a. if i manage to come to an agreement to settle the account will the default STILL STAY on my report until the 6 years is up?b. if im making regular repayments can they change the default 'level' (its at 8)?c. is there any way to get these defaults removed?I fear this is going to affect every job I try to get now... in my day the credit checks werent so stringent but it seems now times have changed.Really appreciate any advise you can give me
  3. I may have to move home and am worried that landlords will not accept housing benefit. I am told that if you cant rent privately then you go on a waiting list which may take years and in the meantime they will put you into a B&B. This would mean losing all my furniture, my dog and everything! Do many landlords accept DSS nowadays? Do I HAVE TO DISCLOSE it? I know alot of lettings agents run Maras reference checks (and if they did I do have TWO Guarantors) but would me being on HB be a no no? Any advice please? Very upset and stressed Thanks
  4. Hi I have been in my HOME for nearly 5 years now but the lettings agent made the lanlord re-refernce me. I am currently unemployed and in receipt of benefits so I knew I would not pass the referencing also because my income isnt 3x the rent and my partner no longer lives here, so I managed to get two of best friends to be Guarantors on the property. Their referencing has gone through but I still had to be referenced. I was worried if the Landlord or Leting agent knew I was unemployed they would make me move out so I said I was self-employed (silly i know) but now they want my accountants details? They have served me a notice of possession until they get my accountants details and I get fully referenced. I thought the most important thing would be the gurantors passing the checks. I dont know what to do now. Please please give me some urgent advice as I could lose my home in 7 weeks time and be on the streets as hardly any private landlors accept HB and theres a massive council waiting list and I could end up in a hostel. Your advice is much appreciated!!!

  7. Hi everyone, hope you are all well.... Sooo I wrote my letters to HSBC and got a reply saying they cant look into it as i hadnt SIGNED the letters and returned the postal orders to me!!

  9. It certainly does.... I wont sign it. What I am asking though is am I after the original credit agreement form them that I signed years back and if they cannot find it they cannot enforce me to pay it? Also the above letter seems a bit aggressive have I the right to take that tone?
