  1. Hi all, I am just starting out to recover illegal charges by Halifax taken from my son`s account. S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) sent 24 April. I have already recovered £1180 from them in regard to my wife`s account, took 74 days to get full refund. They just seem to roll over they agreed to pay full amount over the phone to me and took 13 days to replace money in account. Will keep you all posted on how we progress. For information purposes, if you send Postal Order for £10 with SAR they just return it, and send you all the statements for the past six years. Just make sure that you double or even triple check when totaling all the charges, ( I found highliters very useful). I do believe that you can also include any interest that they may have charged, I included them, and was reimbursed!!. may be an oversite by them.:grin:

S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) posted 25 april, I will keep you all posted as I progress. Don`t give up it`s YOUR money success Halifax £11800
  3. Hi all, having had my first success in reclaiming £1180 in illegal charges from the HALIFAX, my son has asked me to take them on again and try to get his charges returned, (as he is even worse than me with his finances this must amount to an even greater amount) S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) sent 24 April. my claim took 72 days to completion. I will keep you posted success: halifax 1 ... £1180
  4. :D:D Thanks everybody, keep up the good work. :D:D
  5. All charges returned to my account on 26th. March 74 days from day I sent 1st. letter. All I can say is follow the plan as laid down, and don`t change it, it works, and it is simple. thanks to one and all!!
  6. On Monday 26th. March my bank account increase by the sum of £1082.00, returned monies the Halifax had removed from it. 74 days from the day that the original letter sent, quite surprised how easy it was, and how easy they gave in, it must show that charges are not legal. Thanks all on site with special thanks to Crashbandicoot. Look out NatWest, you`re next on my list followed by AA motor insurance.
  7. Today 6th March Halifax offered £1,182.00 in full and final settlement. SUCCESS !!!!!!!! I have accepted as this is more than they have charged me for letters sent, so I am assuming that they have added interest to final sum, they say that I will have cash within 14 of their receipt of complete acceptance form. they also say " You`re responsible for managing your account to prevent any more charges. you need to know that if the way you use your account means you are charged again, we wont give you the charges back and may close your account". so they still dont admit to any illegal charges. thanks for all the help and support from every-one and in particular to crash, I will post a final message when the cash is back in my account
  8. thanks for that Crash. because of unpaid DD`s my motor insurance have charged me £20 for delfaulting on monthly payments, at the time I was unaware of this until I recieved my bank statements. Can I use the same proceedure to reclaim these charges from the insureres?
  9. I have discovered that I have missed one charge and also Interest charged to me from my claim. Can I add this to shedule with LBA? or start another claim?
  10. They acknowledged letter 23 Feb. forwarded it to Customer Relations dept. I will still send them LBA on 15th day
  11. Hi all, I am just starting to claim back £1121.00 from the Halifax, so far they Have provided me with my last six years statements and returned the £10 Postal Order that I sent with my 1st letter. I mislaid the receipt for it and had some problems getting my cash back, but my local postmaster remembered me buying it and cashed it for even though I am not Halifax plc, so be warned KEEP RECEIPTS. Will be sending second letter of tomorrow. will keep you informed as we progress:eek:
  12. Hi, I have just started my action to get my charges back from the Halifax. I sent a copy of letter1 on the 28th of Jan along with a Postal Order for £10 asking for a list of charges over the last 6 years. I received their reply on 1st Feb along with my P.O. (made out to Halifax plc) stating that they had ordered all my statements for the past six years, and as this was all part of Halifax services there was no charge. So far so good. 46 pages of statements began to drop through my leter box in an irregular basis the tenth and final one about 19th Feb, I don`t know the date as I was away from home from the 12th to 19th but they did not all arrive in page order I then had to check through each one to colate the charges. I also had a problem cashing the returned P.O. as I am not Halifax plc. and I had misslaid the reciept for it, eventualy the local Post Office manager did cash it for me, (so be warned, KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS). My next step now is to send letter 2 of asking for £1121.00 th be returned to me, as yet I am not looking for interest but will do if they delay:) I will keep posting as I progress.
