Annoyed at £6 charge when money out then money in on same day

Being a pensioner[to prevent £6 charge I usually leave enough money in account to cover the interest charges.

 

 

This time I knew my pension was due on 19th which unfortunately clashed with an outgoing

leaving not enough to cover the interest charges.

 

 

Fool me thought [what cat did] that the incoming pension would cover it - no such luck.

 

 

Seems the computer processes all outgoings, apply charges then processes incomings on same day.

 

 

I think this is criminal.

Send a formal complaint to the Bank's Head/Registered office and explain pretty much what you have above, let them know that you feel you have not been treated fairly and ask them to refund the charge.

Isn't it standard accounting for it to be done that way (debits before credits)?

 

I would make a friendly and apologetic call to somebody from Customer Services first of all, explaining that you didn't realise debits would be processed before credits. You might find that they will be willing to waive any incurred fees as a one-off.

 

Failing that, you could make a formal complaint. But unless you are complaining about financial difficulty I would avoid basing your complaint on BCOBS.

I have had the £6 charges before, they refunded them for me when I asked them if they though it was justifiable.
