:mad2: hi,wonder if anybody can help.

i have recently changed from a prepayment metre to a smart metre and now my bill has went from £30.00 a week to £70.00 a week,contacted utilita and they said something is using electric between 4am and 6am which is nonsense and want £250.00 for a new metre if this one is faulty.

any help would be greatly appreciated,

I would suggest that you first of all get up early and have a look at the meter at that time and if your heating isnt firing up get back on to them and complain that the meter is faulty and you demand that they come and inspect it. There is no charge for this - that is the law but some companies try it on, same as they trya nd charge for smart meters or say that you have to be on a certain tariff to have one. Cobblers..
