Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering how it is that I have been contacted by a debt collector that called me from aa number that shares my area code? It's a real pain as I really don't want to talk to them but when I seen local area code assumed was one of my family or friends.

I didn't go through the security questions so didn't have to talk to them but just annoyed they can do these sneaky tactics.

Is this method all above board or should I complain?

Very little can be done...I would recommend you screen the calls by way of an answerphone...important calls and family/friends will leave a message...DCAs wont they dont want to be recorded.

Regards

Andy

Report them to the oft. Theyll be using a program like skype but with a plugin to show your local code.

This is so you see the code on caller display amd answer as you think its someone you know.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

If my advice helps you, click the star icon at the bottom of my post and feel free to say thanks

Hi, I think DonkeyD has hit the nail on the head it's "Mackenzie Hall Limited" making the calls, I have no reason to negotiate with them as the dispute is with the card holder. I will happily negotiate with vanguis as soon as they resolve my missed payment dispute.

They are well known for this. It is a deceptive practice. Report to OFT.

Is the account still with Vanquis, rather than having being sold on?

Hi, is using this tactic against the rules? If so I will definitely report.

Regarding the account I can confirm the debt is still with vanquis they are collecting on behalf. I sent a mail yesterday explaining that I will not fill out the income/expenditure & will only deal with vanquis regarding this account.
