Hello everyone,

Today I received a letter from Moorcroft about overdue debt to Orange of £80.99. This is the first I've heard of it.

I phoned up Orange and while they were very nice about it, they were also pretty useless.

All they could tell me was that it was pertaining to my old account.

After my original 24 month contract ran out I had a look about for a new one, the best I could find was with Orange again

but to get it I had to set up a new account and cancel my old one, so I did.

This was in September, I phoned up and cancelled it as well as cancelling the direct debit just to try and avoid a situation like the one that seems to have arisen.

I've spent a good hour or two threading threads here and elsewhere about these jokers so I'm not as worried as I initially was

although I'm not looking forward to potentially years of threats.

So my question is what is the best way to start off this farce?

Thanks

IMO I would simply ignore moocr@p and deal direct with Orange.

Check your credit files and see what is on there, and if you get no joy with orange, vote with your feet.

Don't entertain Moorcr@p, deal IN WRITING with Orange and make them sort out their mess.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thanks for the responses, I've posted a letter to Orange and will cc a copy to Moorcroft just to cover myself and not give them cause to believe I'm ignoring the situation while at the same time not directly dealing with them, it's probably a waste of time but it's only the price of a stamp.

If Orange won't play ball then I'll try the Subject to Access Request.

OK, but there really is no need to wast 50 or 60 pence on a stamp to moorsoft, they are as toothless as my 89 year old neighbour, all you will do is rattle their cage and they will continue to believe they are important enough to receive correspondence from yourself.

They can be ignored. Deal with Orange direct.

You are probably right and I will not send them any further correspondence.

Update:

Moorcroft - standard automated threats.

Orange - I finally got a response.

Thank you for your letter into the Correspondence Department. Your Letter was in relation to an outstanding balance you were unaware of. I can confirm I have passed your information to our Collections Department to look into your issue.

I'm not sure exactly what to make of that, hopefully the Correspondence Department have something to say and don't just point me towards Moorcroft.

@BRIGADIER2JCS I don't doubt it :)

I've still not heard anything more from Oranage/EE but have received a lovely letter from 'midas credit services' who claim to be "part of the Moorcroft Group", I'm very sceptical about them actually being more than just a name and a logo though.

They are making the same 'Litigation Warnings' and again extending the deadline. It's getting rather dull, I almost want them to actually try and take me to court for £80, I expect it'd be quite an amusing day.

Tis true I'm afraid Moorcrap and Midas same group.

Court for £80 is too exspensive and would not be looked on favourably by a judge.
