I have applied for a job with lloyds (halifax section)..i was very honest on my application as i have 2 defaults on my credit file from payday loans from last year. Both paid off and i have got myself back on track finance wise. As i said was very open from the start and also said during my interview about them and was told it was better to be honest (which i had done!!) Anyway.. i know they do a credit check but how strict are they? I have no ccjs etc and have taken control of my finances again. Im just worried as if they offer me the job i know it is subject to the checks, and leaves me in the lurch with my current work..i dont want to hand in my notice just to be told ive failed the credit check. Anyone have any experience?

Hello there,

I went for a job with RBS with no CCJs etc, just a few defaults. They turned me down. I can't say it would be the same situation with you, of course, but I would assume they might be quite strict.

Best wishes,

Seq.

Thanks. Did they offer you the job first or state that you were turned down due to credit?

Don't they require your permission to do that? If so, then you will know if they credit check.

Oh yeah, they sought my permission. I didn't think my file was that bad. This is well over a decade ago. I was in my early 20s and not very financially versed back then!
